DISASTER STRIKES: The FIRST Drive Of My Jag F-Type Goes VERY Wrong

  • I bought a 2014 Jaguar F-Type S that had been sitting abandoned in a tree row for the last year. The 3.0 V6 was questionable at best and when I got to the shop it actually started. Now I've replaced the engine and it's time to start it up and take it for the first drive... the first drive didn't go as planned, now I'm more worried than ever I might be getting a 4th engine for this car!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    Common Questions:
What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Goldwing, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus
What do I do for a living? Make TH-cam videos.
Can you wheelie? No, I suck.
Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.
Where can I keep up with you off the bike?
    Instagram: WatchJRGo
Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)
Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.
Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.
Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.
Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo
Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

If I am not mistaken, you mentioned the car was tuned with pulley from VAP on the original motor. My guess might be if you didn't reinstall the VAP pulley from the original motor (and it didn't look like you did) if the ECU is running the tune file on a motor without the pulleys, this could account for some of the issues you are having. Have you tried to contact VAP to see if you could get the original ECU file and flash that back or did you transfer over the pulleys?

Those nasty, wide rims 👍 will have some effect on steering. Toe them nearly parallel, and barely toe out.

Steering on my 2017 F Type is not heavy in standard running mode, there is more weight when it is in dynamic mode. Having said that Jag had switched to electric PAS by2017. Also worth being careful when using an OBD reader. After using mine and disconnecting the car continued to run a routine and the systems would not go fully into sleep mode when the car was locked, until I disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes.

Doesn't jag have a clear flood mode that allows you to turn the engine over several times without it starting? Running clear flood or manually disconnecting ignition to turn engine over several times before allowing to start should be protocol on an replacement engine. This allows the oil pump to fill all caveties with oil before starting under ignition.......or is this not necessary on junkyard replacements.....
