@@anubusx Ik. Just a foolish theory :) But I am kind of excited for the film. I don't watch too many movies anymore because of trash quality. But the hype for this one is perfect for me.
I really thought out the movie and how I would go about taking innocent attendees of a concert out.. I'm sure my version I created in my head is way way worse than the carnage unleashed in this movie. My body count would be in the 200's by the first song the artist chose to sing. It would be glorious ....I mean tragic and unnecessary....yeah what I just said
the scene where josh hartnett and the woman who says " your daughter's never gonna forget this day" , i believe that is a flash back to the time when she was kidnapped at the concert like you said. wearing the same clothes but lanyard makes it look like last time they had vip meet and greet passes or something so the kidnapping happened after that.
Nah, this happens at all the same concert theyre at currently. The dad probably gets them backstage to meet lady raven and try to leave with her so they can escape the “Trap”
A bigger twist would be there being no twist and the plot unfolding exactly the way that's implied in the trailer. The audience is already primed to expect a twist so it'a a subversion of our expectations to not even have one.
I wouldn’t mind that “twist”. The big twist is that M Night already spoiled it in the trailer . It would be funny if the end of the movie is Hartnett putting his kid to sleep and then he goes in the basement to murder the man on the video and there’s a TRAP 2 where he has to Escape from a kid’s birthday party or another social gathering 😂
Yeah honestly that's always a possibility and I wouldn't mind a straightforward plot with a natural conclusion. The subversion is not to subvert. I like it! Thanks for the comment! Cheers
He has a wedding ring and hes taking his daughter to a concert that a mother would take there daughter too, my theory is that he isn't the Butcher but the Butcher killed his wife and the guy in the basement is the Butcher or knows who the Butcher is which is why he has taken his daughter to this concert, to try to trap the actual Butcher. The rest of my theory is a lot of what you are theorizing about the sixth sense sequel. Its hard to say for sure bc Trailers can be so deceptive, that older lady cop/detective was definitely in the shot where you see a hand grabbing a knife off the counter, you can see her blue undershirt in the shot so I feel like she has been to his house. I am suspicious about the daughter as well but I could be wrong
I hadn't caught that! Interesting that there is someone in blue in the shot where we see his hand dragging across the table. I like your theory, you might be right. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it! Cheers!
The scene where he asks if she'll be okay while he goes to the bathroom. Definitely foreshadowing there. I heavily believe this current concert is happening in his mind and that something did indeed happen to his daughter at a concert. I love the idea of connecting this to Cole from sixth sense maybe the spirit of his daughter helping Cole to "help" her dad. I think this trap is all psychological.
I love how the vendor has knowledge of there being a trap set up for a Serial Killer because that's who I would let in on the trap if i were the Police.
telling him the police are watching will make him act paranoid and that is why he was told that, the vendor is the police and this is how they figure who the butcher is.
Another plot twist could be that the "movie" is all playing out in Harnett's head like the movies Identity and Shutter. Maybe something happened to his wife and/or daughter (Harnett is wearing a wedding ring in the scene where he picks up the knife from the table) and he had some psychotic break and what we are seeing is only playing out in his mind. I'm not gonna lie though, seeing Haley Joel Osment speaking with Hayley Mills, who seems to be the lead detective on The Butcher case sounds AWESOME! "I see dead people" never sounded so good, lol.
Around 4:02 Josh has a backstage pass necklace, but when he is with his daughter he wears no such pass. Hypothesis: His daughter disappeared the first time they were in the concert. Much in the future, the father thinks he will find a way to find his daughter again & he gets a backstage pass by lying that his daughter is a fan of the artist. The Asian guy looks like a hostage the Butcher took. Josh thinks if he finds the Butcher, he’ll find his daughter.
I Think it’s most likely that this movie fits in with the unbreakable series. You know the one where at the end he sandwiched in that secret society… the police trucks in this trailer, looking an awful lot like the trucks from that society. I think it could be something like the movie The Cell. Possibly they’ve already caught Josh Hartnett’s character and he’s in the Institute and they’re going into his mind and setting up a situation to reveal where his last victim is being held. I also think it’s kind of insulting that anyone would think that Night would reuse a twist like “they were dead the whole time.” This man has made some of the best twist movies. Give him some credit.
What if the guy he has in his basement is the butcher and he took his tickets, which are linked to the butcher so hes afraid of being accused of being the butcher?
Anyone notice the audience, crowd are dressed RETRO? Like Michael Jackson shiny white jackets, FLANNEL BUTTONED shirts?, kinda, 90’s-2000’s fashion? That threw me off! Vinyl fake leather jackets, Levi jackets? Retro tennis shoes? So maybe Josh’s character is looking back?
The scene where the lady mentions her daughter. His character is wearing a crew badge. So my assumption they are watching her daughter go back stage when she says that. Since both are looking outward and not at each other. which makes me think she’s real.
Haha wow I can't tell you how much this made my day. I'm going to print your comment and hang it above my computer for encouragement. Really appreciate the kinds words, bud. Cheers and thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
I like this theory, but I think Josh is actually the medium Hailey Joel played, and is there to catch the butcher, all the theory on this movie are amazing though I'm excited for this
I would love to see Bruce Willis in one more M Night movie, but given his condition I'm not sure they'd do it. And they'd also have to tie in Josh Hartnett's character to the East Rail 177 Train aspect, right? Because David Dunn, Mr. Glass and Kevin Wendall Crumb were all connected by the train, right? So Josh would have to be as well. Cheers and thanks for the comment!
@@CordellPotts It's sad but yeah I think this is probably why it won't be an Unbreakable tie in. Or at least one that features David Dunn. Cheers mate thanks for the comment.
A couple things are puzzling - there is a shot of Josh Hartnett and a young woman wearing badges like they are part of the singer's tour - what's that about. If he's taking his daughter to the concert, why is he wearing that (doesn't have it in other shots). And There is this closeup of Hartnett, sort of in a red shade and imposed on him is the image of an older woman so I went to IMDB and see that the cast includes Hayley Mills who was an actress in old Disney movies - she has to be close to 80 now. What role does she play in all this?
My guess is that Josh Hartnett's character either purchases or lifts some sort of backstage passes to evade the police, and this is from that sequence in the movie. And I think Haley Mills probably plays some sort of detective, or perhaps someone who is somehow connected to Hartnett directly.
It's clearly going to be that Hartnett has the butcher in his basement and gets killed over it. Hilarious comment at the end about the merch guy knowing all the deets.
I've heard a few people mention that Hayley is going to play some sort of detective in this. Guess we'll have to wait and see how that all ties in. Cheers!
I think there is meaning with Hayley Mills from the Parent Trap movie about a pair of twins. Meaning twins somehow play into this movie. I'm guessing that Hartnett's character are actually twins, with one of them being the Butcher. I'm also guessing there is more than meets the eye about his daughter.
I agree theory 2. I thought the same thing. Haley joel will appear in it. I think JH his character is re living a knightmare but is also onnthe hunt. He is bloodthursty for that butcher. It wouldn't surprise me if JH is like a dexter
You might be right, I've heard a few people mention this possibility. But then I guess they'd have to tie Josh Hartnettt into the 177 Train right? Weren't David Dunn, Elijah Glass and Kevin Wendall Crumb all connected by the 177 Train (or was it 117 train)?
The inital guess you had was that the daughter who is 13 or whatever was involved? That would be the twist? That josh didnt do it himself but that his daughter also helped? What would be twist? We thought it was one people but it was 2?
How come NO ONE IS MENTIONING THE SINGER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PLOT? Why would she agree to a FAKE CONCERT? He is NOT THE KILLER, HE IS PROTECTING/ WORKING WITH THE KILLER.
I think the singer "Lady Raven" will be a reference to The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. The songs she sings will all refer to the Dads backstory, and this fits with the daughter being a ghost because The Raven is primarily about loss.
I'd be fine with that honestly. I love Shyamalan as a filmmaker so I'm down for wherever he takes it. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Cheers mate!
Haha actually this is not really that bad a theory, it would be interesting to see an adult Cole who's kind of turned to the dark side. Thanks for commenting, cheers!
This theory is far more plausible than your initial theory in your 1st video. I think you may be on to something. I really like the trailer and Josh Hartnet is giving just enough where the story can go a few different ways. Hopefully, the film delivers on the setup 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
The 6th Sense theory is likely 100% accurate. Did you know the 6th Sense was released 25 years ago on the exact date Trap will be released. August 6, 1999? Don't believe me, look it up. M. Night is trying to pull a fast one. I can't wait to see this movie.

Nice video, nice thoughts. I think he wants the perfect day for his dead daughter. So he constructed this trap for her murder. At the end someone asks him about his name and he sais "my name is cole". We notice that he found family, butcher killed her and her biggest wish never get through, a concert at her birthday. Cole contact her and went on a concert she never will forget. Butcher will prisoned by police and cole leaved the scene.
Hear me out….what if the daughter is the butcher 👀 she killed her mom, couldn’t stop killing and the dad feeds into her urges by kidnapping and holding victims for her and in this day they’re just out taking a break from murder.
Appreciate the theory it was pretty entertaining and it sounds like it would be pretty good movie but reality is you were way off like a lot off but still an interesting concept I like it
Alright so a couple unsolved things that bother me... the issue that riley had with the other girls. .. what was it why was that mom so stuck on it ... two his mother... i was sure we were going to see some scars when he took his shirt off as a sign of abuse.. but we didnt.. so i think it was to expose his bulging veins when the tasers went off... just like the beast..maybe they are brothers so they both had issues steming from the same abuse.... seems more plausible in my head then being in the 6th sense uni... or better yet maybe m night finds a way to string all of his films together.. would love it.
Interesting! So then the girl in the trailer would be Cole's sister, or perhaps step-sister. That's not a bad theory. Cheers and thanks for the comment!
Anyone notice the audience, crowd are dressed RETRO? Like Michael Jackson shiny white jackets, FLANNEL BUTTONED shirts?, kinda, 90’s-2000’s fashion? That threw me off! Vinyl fake leather jackets, Levi jackets? Retro tennis shoes? So maybe Josh’s character is looking back?
It might just be lighting or something but in some of the shots of Hartness first taking his daughter, he looks more "clean shaven" than in shots where he goes into the mens room and other close ups. May be it's just lighting.
That’s just due to them filming scenes out of order. There’s movies where haircuts are in different stages from one scene to the next despite (in the movie’s timeline) taking place within minutes of each other.
Didn’t M Night say everything that’s taken place is taking place in real time so His Daughter being a ghost or a Flashback Wouldn’t fit also it wouldn’t have any actual impact to the plot also we know the wife’s alive so that ruins the the butcher killed his wife theory
All of the theories put here have turned out to be incorrect. TRAP is part of what I now call, The EastRail Saga. I’ve gone through all the movies and there is so much more to this movie and the others. But I will leave one tidbit: This isn’t a spoiler if you’ve seen this scene in Glass. Joseph Dunn: (Psychometry data) ""We're gonna salt bae your ass."" "It's definitely going in the book." David Dunn: "What is that anyway??" Joseph: "It's an internet guy...he's a butcher who salts his meat in an elaborate way." David: (few lines later) "That's all he does is season meat??" 😈 Yup.
This guy is cool. No pimping online Monopoly for 20 minutes before getting into the actual subject. Plus, he doesn't have a big goofy fat face and obnoxious voice. Nice work dude
I want this movie to be amazing but I don't think even Josh could save this over thoughtout script. The twist is the actual trap is done in a way that is unbelievable because 1 the police presence is not a carefully hidden "trap" that will spring when the butcher shows up and 2 there is more than one butcher, actually, and listen up to because this is from a source who actually cast the movie, there are 3 butchers. 3 butchers who kill and make brisket like no one's business.
I think he's the kid from 6th Sense, his daughter was killed, and she is leading her father to find her killer. But honestly I really like both your theories and hope that at least one is true.
I love how you youtubers all pretend this is your theory when in reality you're all watching each other's videos and stealing each other's theories lol nobody thinks for themselves anymore.
This might be way out there but if you listen to the movies main trailer song “ Release” The lyrics are I reach for something when there’s nothing left. Plus there’s other lyrics in there that can either be tied to a tragic love story or someone on a vengeful mission and they’re trying to make sense of it. That’s what I took from it but I could be wrong. I was just trying to think of why they would put that song in the trailer.
Okay so now with everyone giving away the ending and who the Butcher is - man, what has happened to M. Night. He went with the Captain Obvious and everyone waiting for the neat twist, the big plot flip are going to be so "is that all there was to it?" Maybe NIckRB you needed to write this movie - liked your twist theories better.
The first twist is that the main focus of this movie is really just highlights of his daughter's concert. The second twist is that it's really bad and makes absolutely no sense.
just saw this movie, you have interesting theories, but the movie is far of what you expect, its actually a pretty bad one to my likings yes there are some twist but not as wild as you hope and most are actually kind of dumb and lame, this is not peak shyamalan at all, this is one of his very weakest works. The trailer is also misleading, the concert venue is only the first part of the movie, the second part is outside of it and its mainly there the movie takes a massive dive in plot and logic. the final plot eventually is also nothing wild or wow, its all pretty bland. one of those movies i wished i could have my time and money back
It’s not weird it’s the way the trailer was edited. Every shot you see in the trailer is mismatched. Not accurate to the actual events that take place in sequential order. 🤦🏿♂️
Red. M. Night used the color red in the sixth sense to indicate something important is being shown. He used purple in unbreakable. He seems to be using red again in the trailer for this movie. (Hartnett’s iphone, the bathroom stalls, the fire alarm the colored lights on the audience.) coincidence or something more?
Maybe Josh's character is just a dad whos daughter was killed by the butcher and hes hunting down the butcher solo style for revenge and his daughter is a figment of his imagination

That's one dark theory but it honestly would make a great twist. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Cheers!
I had time on break and re thought it lol. Please re read my
Original
Appreciate the theory it was pretty entertaining and it sounds like it would be pretty good movie but reality is you were way off like a lot off but still an interesting concept I like it
lady raven is the butcher
nice work
keep it up
I really appreciate the kind words! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Cheers mate!
Napkin chessboard pretzel twist
Alright so a couple unsolved things that bother me... the issue that riley had with the other girls. .. what was it why was that mom so stuck on it ... two his mother... i was sure we were going to see some scars when he took his shirt off as a sign of abuse.. but we didnt.. so i think it was to expose his bulging veins when the tasers went off... just like the beast..maybe they are brothers so they both had issues steming from the same abuse.... seems more plausible in my head then being in the 6th sense uni... or better yet maybe m night finds a way to string all of his films together.. would love it.
What if Josh Hartnet is actually Cole’s dad, who was absent in SS because Cole’s mom divorced him?? He may too young to be his dad though 😛😬
It was alk a dream of shamalan. That’s the twist
New trailer came out though so it proves it's going with no twist
If y'all watch it that means Josh harnett the killer just tryna get out
I REALLY Think you're Ciose to the real story of this picture.
Unbreakable connected to this movie? 😮
mi teoría es kue la niña es la carnicera, vende tomahow, filetes y salchicas
He is the butcher.
What if the twist is the daughter knows he is the butcher and helps him trap his victims and helps him get out of the stadium? hmmmmmmm.
It sort of reminds me of the 2017 movie Dimension 404
So he's the kid from the 6th sense and his daughter was murdered but he can still see her.
But I will leave one tidbit:
This isn’t a spoiler if you’ve seen this scene in Glass.
Joseph Dunn: (Psychometry data) ""We're gonna salt bae your ass."" "It's definitely going in the book."
David Dunn: "What is that anyway??"
Joseph: "It's an internet guy...he's a butcher who salts his meat in an elaborate way."
David: (few lines later) "That's all he does is season meat??"
😈 Yup.
What if the daughter has a multiple personality disorder and doesn’t know that she’s the butcher but the dad knows and is trying to protect her…?
Maybe the Vender has something to do with it?
WHAT A TWIIIIIST
The theories are all WRONG
the daughter is the killer
That would be really disturbing, and it would make one heck of a twist! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Cheers!
Yours is very intriguing.
@@Atomykpimp
Well....after the 2nd trailer that released yesterday I think we are all wrong. 🤣
@@CordellPotts agreed!!!
That doesn't add up. Josh pushes ppl. And hurts ppl without context or fear of being found
I love how you youtubers all pretend this is your theory when in reality you're all watching each other's videos and stealing each other's theories lol nobody thinks for themselves anymore.
True indeed

This might be way out there but if you listen to the movies main trailer song “ Release”
The lyrics are I reach for something when there’s nothing left.
Yup. Saw it for myself. So awful. NicRBs theories would've made a wayyyyyyy better movie. But Josh H was good.
The first twist is that the main focus of this movie is really just highlights of his daughter's concert. The second twist is that it's really bad and makes absolutely no sense.
just saw this movie, you have interesting theories, but the movie is far of what you expect, its actually a pretty bad one to my likings
yes there are some twist but not as wild as you hope and most are actually kind of dumb and lame, this is not peak shyamalan at all, this is one of his very weakest works.
The trailer is also misleading, the concert venue is only the first part of the movie, the second part is outside of it and its mainly there the movie takes a massive dive in plot and logic.
the final plot eventually is also nothing wild or wow, its all pretty bland. one of those movies i wished i could have my time and money back
The concert isn’t real
Hayley Mills plays a doctor. Not detective. I bet psychiatrist/psychologist/profiler…
So far fetched
You might be right, I did get a bit over analytical. We'll find out in August! Cheers
Wrong man
Weird. Josh has a pass around his neck in some shots and not in others.
Blame Continuity. They’re the ones who needed to catch that 😬
It’s not weird it’s the way the trailer was edited.
This doesn’t age well. So wrong.
This movie is terrible just saw it
