Like in this case I’m getting that maybe the main character is actually a schizophrenic or super paranoid so his inner thoughts are getting the best of him or maybe he is dealing with a loss and all of this is just figments of his imagination or a “trap” to gain control of his personalities. Just saying. Overall a great movie idea and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.

I thought the same thing but maybe not avenging his wife but another daughter or possibly avenging his wife and daughter. Showing him moving between the guys in riot gear is ballsy if he thinks they are there for him.
Trap is the most excited for a Shyamalan film since Glass. Unbreakable was a movie I watched a lot as a young teen and is never talked about enough. I agree with you that I think this will connect with The Sixth Sense.
I think it might be way too convenient. As great as "The Sixth Sense" was, to me, I hope it remains a standalone story that never gets a sequel. It doesn't need one. The way it ended was perfect.
Okay all real M. Night Shyamalan fans will know that in the extras on The Sixth Sense DVD, he explained that he used red to signal that Dr. Malcolm Crowe is actually deceased. I understand how other films have used red but if we are in M. Night Shyamalan’s world, then I’m leaning more towards this being a kind of mental prison instead of the obvious ‘Trap’. If he uses red to signal something that isn’t obvious to the viewer, it makes me feel like this isn’t going to be a typical killer just trying to evade police (which is obvious).
Definitely. And for the sake of being obvious, whether you like M. Night or not, he is a good and experienced director. He's not gonna put the films big reveal in the trailer unless he's using that to throw us off from what's really happening
Gonna call it now, he’s not the killer. The M night twist is that it’s gonna be someone completely different but the main character will still be somewhat a killer.
I could see it being an alter of Kevin with Kevin talking to authorities. The other thing I could see (If anyone could pull it off, Shymalan could) is Hartnett's character not being The Butcher in the end. I don't know how you do it, but I could see him pulling it off.
It could be something like a reverse 'The Crow' where a Raven carries the soul to the afterlife... It could all be happening at the moment of his death, and this metaphor is the Raven guiding him on, making him come to terms with his evil... rough thought.
They wouldn't reveal him to be the serial killer if they didn't want the audience to be lulled into a degree of security with that fact. The twist is he's the bait for the serial killer because he 'fits' the profile of their victims.
I think its more likely a grown up cole communicated with a murdered victims ghost and cole tipped the FBI/helping the FBI. Cole being a deranged serial killer would completely ruin coles backstory and the sixth sense in general.
I read that it could possibly be a secret sequel to The Sixth Sense. How else would they know the killer would be there unless.....one of his victims reached out to a now adult Cole who is helping police catch serial killers with information. It wouldn't surprise me if M. Night is trying to build off of his older movies. It worked with Split and Glass
The 6th Sense theory is likely 100% accurate. 6th Sense was released 25 years ago on the exact date Trap will be released... August 6, 1999... Don't believe me, look it up. M. Night is trying to pull a fast one. I can't wait to see this movie.
What if the twist is that he is indeed the butcher, but he is like a Dexter type character where he kills other serial killers and extremely bad people, hence why he had that look of glee in his eyes when he was looking at that individual chained up. Maby he lost his wife to a killer and now he goes around taking out other killers he finds out about.
I like this take. And what if the lead detective is his mom? A real family affair… a “trap” set by his “parent,” so to speak. But is it really a trap for him, or does he maybe have a twin? Or is mom in on a multi-generational secret… like they have a secret power to know who to catch and kill (other serial killers, etc.). All of that would make it interesting to see where his daughter fits in. This could be really good, I have high hopes for it!
Or, he is not the butcher but a copycat butcher. The real butcher is the Dexter type killer. The police figured out about the copycat and is using him for bait. Harnett gets caught in the end, not by the police but the real butcher. Who then goes on to explain everything that didn't make any sense.
In “Glass”, Mr. Glass mentioned towards the end that it wasn’t the culmination or final battle of sorts, but an origin story. But who’s? Bruce’s son? Could this be connected in that way? I’m definitely intrigued.
I don’t get it, they set up a trap waiting for him, but they don’t know what he looks like? And if they do know what he looks like why don’t they just go in and get him? Curious to see how they explain this implausible scenario

My guess for the twist is this is David Dunn's son. He doesn't have his father's unbreakable body but has psychic abilities and turned into a psycho that butchers other psychos.
Wouldn’t mind the twist being Haley Joel Osment character from sixth sense talking to Josh Harnett character as he was the dead one who helped the real butcher get away his murders and ended him killing Josh’s daughter and him to cover “loose ends” and the whole trap is for the true butcher. Intriguing. The 6th Sense theory is likely 100% accurate. 6th Sense was released 25 years ago on the exact date Trap will be released. I can't wait to see this movie.
Hayley Mills' character is Dr. Grant... Calling it... They are there to catch him, but not because he is the Butcher. He has the Butcher chained in his basement because he was a cop who went coocoo for coconuts when his wife, Riley's mom, was killed by the Butcher. Dr. Grant is his psychologist. Or not... LOL
Why does anybody share a secret? Because once you know a secret, there's a part of you that really wants to share it. Some are able to resist that and keep it under wraps, others not so much.
The color red shows up a lot in the sixth sense and represents the barrier between the ghosts and the real world. Maybe something to do with the red clothes and titles in the trailer?
The 6th Sense theory is likely 100% accurate. Did you know the 6th Sense was released 25 years ago on the exact date Trap will be released. August 6, 1999? Don't believe me, look it up. M. Night is trying to pull a fast one. I can't wait to see this movie.
I really enjoyed the trailer and when it comes to M Night Shyamalan's movies, I'd rather someone take a risk and come close than play it safe. Even in his lesser received films there are elements and/or scenes that stand out as great, so this is definitely one I'll be checking out.
I've worked on this film and in addition to First Ontario (formerly Copps) Colliseum in Hamilton Ontario, some of the stadium scenes were shot at Rogers Centre (formerly Skydome) in Toronto. The scene with them parking the car that you pointed out the traffic sign above them on the overpass, was actually the Gardiner Expressway in downtown Toronto. There were a lot of locations in and around Toronto. I think you're right (I don't know about the Haley Joel Osment connection...) there's more to this plot than meets the eye for sure! I can't wait to see it in theatres!
The title may imply it's a trap for him, but I think that it's a trap for someone else. He may also be a part of the police force or he's retired. I also think another family member like his wife or even the elder ones play a key role in this movie.
Red in The Sixth Sense was used to symbolise the spirit world and its influence upon the real world. Every time you see red, a ghost trapped in limbo either accompanies it or appears shortly thereafter. Shyamalan is probably putting his extension of the Unbreakable universe to rest or, at least, off to the side and now is looking to expand upon The Sixth Sense, which honestly, I'm surprised he hasn't done sooner. I firmly believe Trap is extending The Sixth Sense universe and opening the door to more projects with Cole as a focal point.
My guess is that the twist is that he is not the main serial killer. There is a second serial killer in the arena that they are actually looking for and there will some type of conflict between the two killers lol.
The real trip of the twist of this film. Is the butcher is actually father & daughter's doings. You did say, M's promoting is daughter's work throughout film. Simple to make you think it's only Joshs character.
I hadnt thought about it til now but with the use of red i thought about the cell. What if they are inside the mind of the killer trying to find the victim
The twist will be its a sequel to 2010’s Devil, and instead of being of trap in an elevator the Devil as the lead investigator has trapped him in the concert
Yeah it’s definitely Rogers Centre. As a Jays fan I spend a lot of time there. Very recognizable. Some of the interior might be First Ontario Centre, but otherwise it’s Rogers

Or not... LOL
Reasonable twist!
I feel like the concession worker was apart of the plot to catch him. First, why would he know what the feds are doing. Second, why would he share?
Why does anybody share a secret? Because once you know a secret, there's a part of you that really wants to share it. Some are able to resist that and keep it under wraps, others not so much.
The color red shows up a lot in the sixth sense and represents the barrier between the ghosts and the real world. Maybe something to do with the red clothes and titles in the trailer?
I'm not gonna lie I would be down for the return of Haley Joel as his character from sixth sense using his gift to help the police.
Parent - Trap. Get it?? 😂
Actually, one of the actresses in the movie was in the original Parent Trap. Hayley Mills...
While the interior of the concert venue is filmed within First Ontario Centre, the exterior shots were filmed in Toronto outside Rogers Centre.
I fully agree on what you said about m night continuously grinding and doing whst he loves. I enjoy his movies
the lead detective is his mom. leavin this here :D
I was thinking the same
Smells like Michael Meyers but without the mask.
He kills on the stops on the tour.
The interiors of the arena are in Hamilton, but the majority of the stadium exteriors are the Rogers Centre in Toronto
i don't know; something's not adding up here; i mean they if he's the butcher, why does he have this victim kidnapped in lieu of killed?
I feel like if there is a twist, I think the twist would be that there is another killer there and that’s the one they are looking for
Josh Hartnett plays twins. One a Detective and one a serial killer. Maybe
Watching TheTrailer I Thought...
"That MoFo *IS* Whom They're Lookin' For!"
15 Seconds Later, TheTrailer *REVEALS* What I Thought!
and 45mins in you'lll realize THATS not true either lol
TRAP = PART .. wow
I recall on the commentary of the 6th Sense, M Night loves using the color red on the set, typically an object, when setting up an tense scene
7:05 , could be that prices these days are so stupid that it makes better sense for one parent to take the kid.
No matter how it goes down, I think that he and his daughter leave just like normal.
Part of me thinks the singer is the one they think is the killer
Repeating someone’s name back to them is a way to instill trust and confidence.
M. Night can do no wrong imo, his movie are always watchable.
Avatar the last airbender is an abomination of a film
But still watchable!!!!! Watchable to say how bad it is but watchable non the less
Watchable if you leave all logic, reason and your brain at the door.
This looks pretty good. You called it when you said it's a mix of good and bad. When it's good, it's so good.
He just needs to stick to him being him. Small budget films in confined areas. and Keep the tension coming.
I’m a Shamalyan fan until I die. The Village for life!
The village was great. The twist wasn't huge but still satisfying and I remember being gripped thought the whole film.
Signs was my favorite movie. I got nightmares from that movie!
I want to see THIS version of the movie because what actually happened is way worse
its great to see Josh hartnett back in movies. he took a break for a while.
3:50
Not to mention he just gives a random vendor his name
I hadnt thought about it til now but with the use of red i thought about the cell. What if they are inside the mind of the killer trying to find the victim
That would be an interesting plot and I'm here for that!
The 2nd trailer that came out shows so much more!
The twist will be its a sequel to 2010’s Devil, and instead of being of trap in an elevator the Devil as the lead investigator has trapped him in the concert
That would be so dope if they were able to keep that part secret!!
Nothing will ever be worse than the happening. This looks good.
Unbreakable=Green, Split=Yellow, Glass=Purple, and Trap=Red
But red also significant in Sixth Sense. Would be cool if this film connected Sixth Sense and Unbreakable universe
he made the excellent "the servant" series on Apple TV.
He has dabbled in the "streaming game"
Twist is he’s not the butcher killer it’s someone else random but he’s psychotic and thinks he’s the butcher killer
Bringing Haley back would be pretty cool.
Not gonna lie that monopoly go transition was clean lol
M Night drew me in with this one, interested to see if Coop makes out😭
Unbreakable-Split-Glass peak cinema
I am so excited for this movie... I love M. Night Shyamalan's writing and style he for the most part always keeps you guessing.
A lot of this trailer looks to have scenes in downtown Toronto, and the venue looks to be the Rogers Center.
Yeah it’s definitely Rogers Centre. As a Jays fan I spend a lot of time there. Very recognizable. Some of the interior might be First Ontario Centre, but otherwise it’s Rogers
What if cole is another person the organisation is keeping an eye on as well as this serial killer who also has some powers
