good video, I don't think anyone has done a video like this yet. you are still visibly a bit nervous on camera, but hopefully you will settle in and get comfortable. just keep putting stuff like this out and I think you will be successful.
Could be. I've seen it before. Id try doing some thermal paste and cleaning any dust from the board and fan. But its possible that card was used for mining and the memory is bad.
I would just hold out. I refuse to pay the prices people are asking. I am seeing old cards like the rx 390 going for $200+ and it's just not worth it. I'd rather have a ps5 then spend $200 on a gpu that old.
Whoever you are on the right you look just like my neighbor if he was 20 years younger and made tech videos 😳 really helpful video tho. I’m afraid of spending any money I’m not ready to lose on eBay and that includes GPU kind of money.
Hey thank you. We will never forfeit our integrity. I've seen so many channels lose subs and respect after they traded their integrity on a product for the money.
There are definitely alot of mining cards on Ebay. If the seller is selling several of them at once is an easy way to spot them. I bought a mining card recently and plan to do a video on how to spot a mining card and what risks are involved and see if I've lost any performance because of it being mined on.
Great video. One thing that I like to do first, is check the bios. A lot of these Ebay cards were used for mining.
That actually is a good move too. I thought of that during editing. Thanks for mentioning that! I will pin you!
How do you know through bios that it was used for mining?
@@gary1213 any update?
@@211Mik3 no
@@gary1213 was just curious was thinking about buying a used card on eBay but scared it’s gonna die from mining because idk how to check bios
I'd be too nervous to buy a used card and I've never used Ebay. Thanks some good info to know though for those that do 👍. Good job
Well if you ever let your card go for 5 years you can do these things as well to ensure the life span of your card.
@@TechTeardownYT - Some good advice 👍

Thank you so much for those kind words. Yeah still learning, still getting comfortable. But glad to have all the feedback! It helps! Cheers!

i just upgraded to a used gtx 1070, mine suddenly have ghosting and some 'green artifacts' popped up too, is it also because of dried thermal paste?

why was no Thermal pads on the memory or the fets?
With covid, gpu prices are way up. I’m trying to buy used to save some money, but I don’t want to get screwed by a scammer. What should I do?
