BREAD PUDDING 1 Large French Bread 6 Eggs 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla Extract 1 Stick of Butter 1 Quart Heavy Cream 1 (14oz) can of Condensed Milk 1 (12oz) can of Evaporated Milk 1 & 1/2 cups of Sugar 2 Teaspoons of Cinnamon 1/4 Teaspoon of Nutmeg Rum Sauce 1/2 Stick of Butter 1/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar 1/2 Tablespoon of Vanilla Extract 1/4 Cup of Dark Rum 1/2 Cup of Whole Milk 1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar 1/4 Cup of Whole Milk (To mix with cornstarch) 1 Tablespoon of Cornstarch Start out by preheating your oven to 300°. Cut the bread into 1-2 inch cubes by first cutting the bread into two halves top and bottom, then cutting all the way down the middle from the top of each half. From there slice into 1-2 inch cubes. Place the pieces of bread on a large pan, and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. When done, place the bread in a large bowl allowing it to cool. Grease a 9x12 baking dish using the stick of butter. Only use enough to grease the dish. Melt the remaining butter in a container, and allow to cool. Gently scramble the eggs in a small bowl, then add them to a mixer mixing bowl. Add the 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, heavy cream, condensed milk, and evaporated milk. Turn the mixer on to a low setting, then sprinkle in the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Allow the ingredients to mix for about a minute. Pour the mixture over the bread in the bowl. Place a lengthy loose sheet of cling wrap over the bread. Take another bowl just a tad smaller than the bowl that the bread is in, fill it with a small amount of water, and place it on top the bread. Gradually add more water so that the top bowl presses down on the bread, allowing all of the bread to submerge in the liquid. Be cautious as you do this. If the top bowl is too heavy, liquid will spill out of the bottom bowl. Let this sit for 30 minutes. About midway through remove the cling wrap and gently fold the bottom bread to the top. Place another layer of cling wrap over the bread, and then place the bowl of water back on top. After 30 minuets of soaking, pour the bread into the baking dish. Gently press down the bread so that some of the remaining liquid surfaces. Cover with foil, and bake in the oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes. When the time is up, remove the foil, and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 20-30 minutes. During this time you will get started on the rum sauce. Heat a small pan on a medium low heat. Add the half stick of butter. When the butter has melted, add the brown sugar. Blend evenly. Add the 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Once you have a smooth mixture, stir in the rum. Let cook for a couple of minutes allowing the alcohol to cook out. Next add the 1/2 cup of milk and powdered sugar. Mix well. Off to the side stir in the tablespoon of cornstarch in with 1/4 cup of milk. Blend in evenly. Add the mixture to the sauce by pouring and stirring at the same time. Bring the sauce to a boil, then turn the heat off. Stir constantly for about five minutes. Pour the sauce over the bread pudding and serve. Enjoy!
Just made this recipe and it was my first time trying bread pudding. When I tell you there was nothing left, there was NOTHING left. The only thing I added was a 1/2 tsp of rum extract and rum soaked raisins. Phenomenal!! Thanks so much CN❤️
@@scr0711 the extract. The actual rum leaves too much of an ethanol taste to me with puddings. The extract has more flavor. But for the raisins I did soak in actual alcohol

Oh My God. I just got done eating my first piece of this fabulous bread pudding. It is the best bread pudding I’ve ever had in my life. VERY GOOD take on bread pudding. I also toast my bread before soaking it, to get the moisture out. I also melt a stick of butter and pour it over the bread before I toast it. It gives the bread a golden texture and a buttery flavor. I like Golden Raisins or Dried Cranberries, I let them soak in the custard, that way they are nice and plump when I add the custard to the bread. Oan I LOVE the special effects :))
I’ve made this a few times it’s awesome!! This last time I didn’t have time to cook for the last 30 mins and make the sauce so I put it in the fridge and the next day cooked for 30mins and made the sauce and it was perfect!! Highly recommend this!!

So I made this today. Bread pudding is one of my specialty desserts. I make it with pecan praline sauce. This one was different so I tried it. I found I had the same problem when I use too much heavy whipping cream in my sweet potato soufflé. It stays mushy instead of cooking into a firm custard. Had to cook it 30 minutes more for a better consistency. LOVED the flavor of the sweetened condensed milk. I think it will be a keeper, just waiting for feedback from the 75 people we served it to.
