When a song makes you wanna cry each and every time you hear it I think it doesn't matter who the guitar player is. And sure the glory always goes to those that composed it and the singer that let the feelings come out
Tears running down my Face right now .... when i hear this Song ..... Jon Lord was for me the Best Organ Player in the whole Rock scene ..... and now ... he has passed .....
hey BROTHER, I love your voice, I love your soul, I love everything about YOU. You just MADE a great song a GREATER song. Take Care, I'm here for YOU and God's speed !!!
great video. Love Deep Purple. Deep purple music never dies .someone correctly said Deep Purple rules FOREVER. Its evergreen. Love to hear the songs still after so many years.
Feeling the need to convince others that somebody is not as "good" as someone else is just the product of your own doubt that this is actually true. Incredible song, incredible playing, incredible solos - !I! just felt so much better :-)
I think Blackmore's original solo in this song is one of the best in history. It's not an example of virtuosity, with distortion, fast pace or scale changes, agree, but Ritchie's sensivity is just unreachable, so the solo fits perfectly into the song's dynamic and environment. Even though Morse and Satriani versions are great, the original still wins. Simply magnificient
cool expression expression of sadness I know only few songs like this, maybe every part of this song is brilliant - a guitar solo, vocals&words, a saxophone.. tribute to blind man...
damn, that organ solo is just too musical! no shredding, no showing off, but still perfectly awesome ... think I'm just going to watch it yet another time :D
dont know why ritchie did not like this song. its great. and i love this version, ian is right on. several bands have recorded this song. BUT NONE can perform like mr gillam.go ian, love the song, and thank you deep purple for performing this great song.
After Steve Morse joined the band, much of the song was re-written, and the song is usually extended to around 7 minutes when performed in concert with him, often including a HIGHLY COMPLEX EMOTIONAL GUITAR SOLO, while the original song was only 3 min. The guitar parts for the song also mainly consist of some improvised licks by Morse between the song's lines, while Roger Glover and Don Airey play the main rhythm section. AND YOU STILL FIND A GUY NAMED PATRICKMICHELS who says SM is over playing!
Ce sont des monstres ces types ils peuvent vous la faire en 40 versions elles seront toutes inoubliables des legendes vivantes profitez en y en aura plus beaucoup des comme ca
As much as I love Ritchie Blackmore as a guitarist I must say that all records that Steve Morse has done with Deep Purple has been great! "Rapture of the Deep" is one of the best rock albums since the year 2000 !
go boys, hell yeah.im sure ritchie is having as much success with his witches group.i dont know how you catagorize the crap he is doing. but this is awesome. thank you members of deep purple gettin ian back.love it.
A classic that still leaves me wondering why it was dropped and not included on the Machine Head LP. It was resurrected in later compilation releases, and has been included in many DP shows since.
I'm not disappointed of his performances, it's impossible to be disappointed with such a guitar... The guy is just great; but I still think Ritchie's solo for this song is the best, just because it is the proper. That is all I wanted to say,I don't want to make a discussion about this
@vegadj The concert was at Sunrise Musical Theater in Ft.Lauderdale/Fla. USA. You should get the DVD - called "Perihelion". Saw more than 20 DP Gigs. Maybe one of the best concerts of DP ( All other can say what they want - Steve is a ( the ) significant improvement - even he ( has to ) play some liks from RB.
I love this song, ever, since the first time I listened to it a long, long time ago, live. It's just fucking great. And this particular version, with Jon Lord doing the mid-song solo instead of Morse... buah, it's great!
@Chriscocodrums - I can't really think of any really slows songs from Deep Purple except this one and Soldier of Fortune. Anyway both are not only among Deep Purple's best songs.. but among the best "rock ballads" ever written. Atleast in my book !
" If you're leaving, close the door
I'm not expecting people anymore "

I miss you Jon Lord. This is one of the best live versions I've ever seen. Deep Purple songs will last forever.
When a song makes you wanna cry each and every time you hear it I think it doesn't matter who the guitar player is. And sure the glory always goes to those that composed it and the singer that let the feelings come out
I would personaly say that the solo in this song is just perfect. I can listen to it over and over again, simply genious
If heartbreak has a sound, Steve has captured it here with his beautiful guitar playing.
Tears running down my Face right now .... when i hear this Song ..... Jon Lord was for me the Best Organ Player in the whole Rock scene ..... and now ... he has passed .....
