One day my wife and I were driving somewhere and this song came on from my Ipod. She asked me this was and I said Gary Moore. After the song was done I noticed she was crying. I asked what was wrong and she said "The song is so beautiful". We would drive from the Boston area to Northern Michigan twice a year and if this song came on the "random'" playlist she would repeat. Teachers teach...at least the good ones. l bet she lives on in perpetuity every time you hear him. l hope it led to others like him (Joe Bonamassa. SRV, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Gary Clark Jr to name a few) excellent music.
This live version sounds a million times better than the record version. Watching the emotion and feel Gary displays on his face and puts into his guitar is in itself a pleasure to watch and hear.
I must say that just this live recording he has an exceptional sweet guitar tone. Tried to find the same recording on Spotify without any luck to hear it without TH-cams compression. There are other live recordings of him that are really good, but this has something the other are missing. Just when he bends those notes to perfect intonation and it's just the right amount of treble so it's sweet but not ear-piercing. Ok, so after that rant; Anyone knows where to find the recording with better sound quality?
Fucking magical song.. you listen to it over and over and everytime its more magical then before..his voice as well . Thank you brother for this. It makes your heart shiver. Just like today s music...crap all over.. fuck we ve gone so far from all this beauty. R.I.P . Gary. God bless you always
Been listening to blues all my life, nothing cuts it like this version,,, of this song,.,by this man. So much passion so much skill. The heart and soul of the blues in 6 minutes and 46 seconds has never been better expressed. RIP Gary
What a pity Gary moore is no longer with us. He died way too soon. In the words of Billy Joel,s song 0nly the good die young. Live fast die young when you,re a famous singer or guitarist playing to packed houses.
This is the only artist I know whose live performanse exceeds even his studio recording! I'm always at a loss for words when I listen to this. This song and this performance is a blessing from Heavens!
I'll have to add Mariah Carey and her live performance of "Without You" to this. She definitely way surpassed her studio performance as well. Those guys just "feel" it! God bless them both!
They both always had "IT". It's incredibly difficult to quantify or explain but, when you hear it? You KNOW damn near immediately. UNREAL performance here! He wasn't as much as a semitone out on EVERY single bend. My God. RIP Mr. Moore. You are FAR from forgotten!

I found out about Gary Moore only a few years ago. I heard a tribute to him by Joe Bonamassa. I was fascinated & looked him up. I never heard anyone like him. I listened to everything I could by him. His playing literally brought me to tears. He touched my soul. I think he is the best guitarist I have ever heard. He blows u away & takes u to another world. There just aren't enough words to describe his talent. He holds a special place in my heart. I only wish I could have seen him in person. What a disappointment I never got to. RIP Gary ❤😢
I play guitar, but have never really heard Gary Moore before. Then, a few weeks ago I find a guitar pick outside my storage garage that says Gary Moore on it. I try the pick and love it, so I decide to look up Gary Moore on TH-cam just for giggles. Wow, I am very impressed. As a matter of fact I feel like I have a new guitar hero. The way he got into that solo is the way that all musicians should get into their solos. And that crying sound from the guitar, man... Just a great musician. R.I.P Gary Moore. No one has made a guitar sound as good as Gary Moore!
Tone and feel.......the man poured out his soul to the audience every time he hit the stage. Insane guitarist, soulful singer and great showman.....I'm just lucky enough to have seen him live 2x!
RIP Gary Moore!!

The best blues solo composition ever written. R.I.P., Gary.
Я, радуюсь, что это песня набирает так много теплых голосов. Какой музыкант и исполнитель , это вовеки..
God I can't stop listening to Gary. Every couple of days I have to play Gary. God rest his soul dear Lord..

@Ghetto. Gary died in his sleep at age 58. February 6, 2011 of a heart attack. In Spain I believe but I've forgotten the city.
Then he lives forever.
me too. often i wonder why i am a bit down, and then i realise i havent been in my car and listened to Gary for a couple of days. Story of the Blues is my fave .
Amen brother amen
It reminds me of my dad who’s been living without my Mom since so many years after she passed away. He chose not to remarry saying he will never be able to love another woman so much and it’ll be injustice to both of them!!
This is one of the masterpiece of guitar!!
It's hard to realise that this kind of genius like Gary are no longer here to create, play and sing like this. R.I.P. Gary

whistles of chirping birds, the beauty of the

This solo made me cry like a little baby...
That’s the blue
He’s an absolute master of both the guitar and the vocals. The guitar supersedes at times and then the unmatched vocals. Gone too soon! Thanks Gary! We love you so much! We will continue to celebrate your music as long as we are alive!

Before she retired, my english teacher recommanded our class to listen to some of Gary Moore's music. If it wasn't for her I might have never heard this masterpiece.
Teachers teach...at least the good ones. l bet she lives on in perpetuity every time you hear him. l hope it led to others like him (Joe Bonamassa. SRV, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Gary Clark Jr to name a few) excellent music.

Trust me, if you ever turned a radio on you would have heard it
This live version sounds a million times better than the record version.

Yeh he was one of the greats shame t had to end so sudden would probably still be playing 🥲🤩
What a pity Gary moore is no longer with us. He died way too soon. In the words of Billy Joel,s song 0nly the good die young. Live fast die young when you,re a famous singer or guitarist playing to packed houses.

RIP Gary ❤😢
I can't believe I only found him 2 days ago. This song has touched me to the core. I need a time machine.
Same here- I saw Bonamassa perform Midnight Blues… was blown away!

You were a great guitarist.
+Leather Louis The story about the pick true though?
***** Absolutely. Found it outside a Palm Springs storage shed 😀
