When the M in MTV still stood for MUSIC. Man these were the days, I swear! I LOVE that I grew up listening...being privileged to listen to Blind Melon, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Candlebox, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, etc...Music will never be this way again. Thank God for TH-cam and old Cd's! ;)
JennSDMF1979 I hear ya on that. I think I was born a few years too late. I'm only 24 but THIS is the kind of music I like, I have an older brother that I shared a bedroom with until I was 13 when moved out so because of that THIS is the kind of music I grew up listening to and still listen to today. Unlike the crap that comes out today
One of the greatest songs of the 90's. Just a simple riff, simple lyrics, and something about the lighter side of life that we should all be able to relate to at some point. RIP Shannon
+Zetsubou Aaron Thank you for your attentiveness to my comment. It feels nice to be pat on the back. I just happened to agree with +Shaun Gaetz comment. I was never a fan of the top 40 shit either but how could I not admit that it did once upon a time give airplay to great music and bands. As far as I'm concerned, Primus, NIN, Mudhoney, Radiohead are not that "POP". Interest on these bands led me to other bands which are played even less therefore, I was given the chance. However, I really must agree with you with me being out of touch...you have no idea. Say "Hi" to your mum for me!.
Oh my god.....I want to cry every time I hear him sing. :/ They sound even more beautiful singing live just like this. Calm and collected. It just calms me and makes me forget everything that ever bothered me in my whole life....
Absolutely love this kids vibe ... I'm a lot older then him at the time and really dont like this era but damn he resonates and i just luv hearing him. Dont know what it is and dont understand why ... I believe he was once in a lifetime talent.
I wouldn't say he's a genius, but whether anyone wants to admit it or not this hippie dude left us with a great song that'll live on. I'm glad for that :D
do you remember? do you rember driving to college in your EH civic in 1999? with this song quietly in the background as you chat about girls and your shitty part time retail store job to your buddy nick in the passenger seat. i dont, because in 99 i was 3. but i think thats the idea mr regular is trying to get across.
wow there is nothing like the 90's!!! I'm still discovering phenomenal music from this time period, while I can only find a handful of decent bands from the last decade.
So I'm fifteen and I heard this song on this wonderful radio statiion, on the edge. Just wanted to tell you that people will constantly look for music. Music never ages!!
What? They did make it big? They have a few hits and I think most ppl know of them at least in my area. They just stopped growing because the lead singer died of a coke overdose.
So many people whining about how music sucks now. Obviously, you havent been digging deep enough. Good music is still present today, you just have dig a bit deeper. And the nice thing about music is that it is timeless. So, all the old music that you enjoyed will always be with you. So in a sense, you're never without good music.
SiphiliSx everyone has always said that lol. Have u heard them do me and Bobby mcgee?? it's on youtube ..they did a little as a warm up, but also as a joke because of him supposedly sounding so much like Joplin 😀😉
I honestly think the government killed Shannon or had something to do with his death. R.I.P Shannon we love and miss you, you made such a huge impact on my life and many other people.
I never cease being amazed....amused....fascinated by ^^^^^ ooooohhh^^^^^ most of what is ^ and ^ what is not! ALWAYS be amazed/amused/fascinated. Thanks for being you........................
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watching the puddles gather rain And all I can do Is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view But it's not sane It's not sane I just want someone to say to me Oh, oh, oh, oh I'll always be there when you wake, yeah, yeah You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today, hey So stay with me and I'll have it made (I'll have it made) And I don't understand why I sleep all day And I start to complain that there's no rain And all I can do is read a book to stay awake And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape Escape Escape Escape All I can say is that my life is pretty plain You don't like my point of view and I'm insane It's not sane It's not sane I just want someone to
Those artists with true talent are always taken from us too early. R.I.P Shannon, Jimmy, Dime, Ron, Randy, Cliff, Peter, and all the others who have left the world a poorer place for their absence,
I will always love blind melon!!Their music has a great influence in my life.. thank you shannon hoon, and you have truly written your words in the face of today...You will live forever in our hearts!
I love this song, and miss this era, such great music, and so peaceful... Makes me sad to see him so full of life, but it also make me thankful that he shared what he could before he was gone.
All Of blind Mellons CDs were amazing, , aLL FILLied with deep and meaningfull lyrics I could relate to my own life. On ther charts they may have been a one hit wonder , But evry cd they put outwas like a greatest hits, Ican listen to all of them from begining to end
What a great tune .Saw them at The Mean Fiddler Harlesdon NW London in the 90,s .Live they had it .This stuff can,t be measured.Don,t listen to anyone who thinks they know what path good sounds will or will not take. There just pissin in the wind, they don,t know it but they are .
I miss the 90's too bro no wars on two fronts, no worries about money, just sitting back and smoking down listening to great bands. yeah those were the days
I just meant that it's something simple to remember and one can pretty much sing along to the whole thing after hearing it about 3 times. Prime example. I remember hearing it when I was 6 when it came out in 1995 a couple times, and didn't hear it again until 2002 and still remembered it word for word.
I remember seeing this performance in 93 when it first aired. It was when I was still in High School, I think I went out and bought the cassette tape the next day!
I live in Indiana and am like 30 minutes away where he grew up. I actually know tons of people who grew up with him, and it kills me to know i'd never be able to meet him now. I'm going to his grave sometime next week. =( R.I.P.
so much talent came out of Lafayette, IN in the 80's...Shannon Hoon, Izzy Stradlin, Axl Rose - they all went to high school together! Shannon had an awesome voice. This song is definitely in my top 5 favs

Man .... that voice ...
My heart melts when I listen to Blind melon. But my heart sinks when I think how Shannon past away. Touched many people for sure xx
Great performance! These were the days when MTV was still worth watching.
One of the greatest songs of the 90's. Just a simple riff, simple lyrics, and something about the lighter side of life that we should all be able to relate to at some point.
RIP Shannon
This version always brings me tears. So pure and beautiful..
he so soulful. I haven't seen all the old live music in live I forgot. look at that talent so effortlessly.
one of the best voice's in music history , honestly this could never be replaced with and sound better
This has got to be one of his best performances! His voice is so clear and clean! He had a magnificent voice!
I love how shannon always plays with the lyrics live.
i had the pleasure of seeing them in 1993 at the Milton Keynes bowl supporting Guns and Roses. - splendid.
once upon time in a time not so far away, music was real, it touched our souls, made us smile on those gloomy days. What happened to these days?

¡Qué buen tema!
I love this song!
#BlindMelon #NoRain
Melon was a welcome relief for many of us from the grungefest that overwhelmed rock in the 90's. It was refreshing for me personally.
Amo essa musica *-*
Oh my god.....I want to cry every time I hear him sing. :/ They sound even more beautiful singing live just like this. Calm and collected. It just calms me and makes me forget everything that ever bothered me in my whole life....
Shannon makes it look so effortless.
So beautiful 💕 Most underrated singer from 90s, along with Perry Ferrell ❤️
Que perron es escucharla en vivo, totalmente acústico, Una maravilla de los 90's

Gone too soon...but his stamp on music will continue...

I wish there was more from this performance....BLIND MELON RULES!!!
RegularCarReviews brought me here after referencing this sound specifically acoustic in his video
do you remember? do you rember driving to college in your EH civic in 1999? with this song quietly in the background as you chat about girls and your shitty part time retail store job to your buddy nick in the passenger seat.
i dont, because in 99 i was 3. but i think thats the idea mr regular is trying to get across.
Yes. This. Except I was in highschool, and it was 2000, and a 3.8 Thunderbird, and my buddy's name was Scott.

So I'm fifteen and I heard this song on this wonderful radio statiion, on the edge. Just wanted to tell you that people will constantly look for music. Music never ages!!
It still boggles my mind how this band never made it big. They were so brilliant.
What? They did make it big? They have a few hits and I think most ppl know of them at least in my area. They just stopped growing because the lead singer died of a coke overdose.
No words to describe those vocals, I try and try but can't imitate. Grande Shannon!
To all the great s. Jim Morrison ,Jimi hendrix,Jerry garcia,Kurt cobain ,shannon hoon ,layne staley,Scott Weiland we all feel your pain
And now David Bowie :(
+Rob Healer David Bowie died of cancer ....
I know I know, I was just adding to the list of the greats
What about Doug Hopkins from Gin Blossoms? He wrote "Hey Jealousy", Lost Horizons" and "Found Out About You".

So many people whining about how music sucks now.

just the way she said: "hahahaha, we have blind melon"... it was funny
May the lord of heaven look down on Blind Melon smiling with love and happiness. 🎉
He sounds like Janis Joplin. Creepy.
SiphiliSx everyone has always said that lol. Have u heard them do me and Bobby mcgee?? it's on youtube ..they did a little as a warm up, but also as a joke because of him supposedly sounding so much like Joplin 😀😉
70's and the 90's were the best eras of music!!! hands down!!!
I honestly think the government killed Shannon or had something to do with his death. R.I.P Shannon we love and miss you, you made such a huge impact on my life and many other people.

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watching the puddles gather rain
And all I can do
Is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view
But it's not sane
It's not sane
I just want someone to say to me
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I'll always be there when you wake, yeah, yeah
You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today, hey
So stay with me and I'll have it made (I'll have it made)
And I don't understand why I sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake
And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape
Escape
Escape
Escape
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
You don't like my point of view and I'm insane
It's not sane
It's not sane
I just want someone to

I think that was the calmest performance I've ever seen. Shannon looks so at ease. What a guy.

This live version always stuck out in my head, maybe more so than the video. I loved the video, but this is amazing.
They were really bringing the 70s back, its really sad what happened to the lead singer. Great talented band, much more than a one-hit wonder.
Excelente canção. Saudades do vocalista do grupo.
