Probably my favourite Dirty track, along with theresa's sound world. Like you said, a true SY classic. Thank you for yet another great acoustic reinterpretation of a great song ;)
This song in particular have beautiful chords and arrangements, thanks for doing in it acoustic, cause only in acoustic you are able to appreciated. Never thought was so so beautiful. All this job you have done with the SY cover thing is pretty special. I seriously think this covers are independent from the actual songs and have their own personality and a strong artistic value. Only an artist will be able to do it...
I didn't think Sonic Youth could get any better and then I found your page. You've shown me that I can play these songs on my acoustic guitar too and you include the tuning in each song. Thank you so much.
Thank you my friend - really appreciate the words! I only tried to bring in another dimension to the SY universe - something unseen and unheard of. Or at least for my part. To solve the riddle and get in deeper into the real core. I feel it has made an improvement on my guitar-skills so to say. I'm only thrilled if these covers makes you take them on yourself! Thank you!
Nice work, bro! Sweet cover. You've inspired me to learn this one. Just heard this song for the first time tonight (at 45 years) and cranked it and let it wash over me. Such a great tune. Keep it up.
Adam Barnett - Thanks a lot, much appreciated. It’s never too late (age-wise) to get involved with the SY catalogue :) I myself will turn 43 in four months and still their sound makes me remember the first encounter. But everything’s a blur and it’s the same sound and feeling as back then at the age of 17 :) Let me know if you need any help tutorial-wise even though my version is somewhat alternative :)
Thanks a lot, appreciate that :) I have done a few on electric - "Brother James" and "Theresa's Sound-World" but I find it more interesting to do the songs on acoustic because it opens up for the structure of the song when it's not covered in noise - not that I do not love the noise :) But I really wanted to learn the songs and so acoustic seemed like the right way to go about it. Some day I might do them all on electric though :)
You're very welcome - I should, and I am, thanking you for watching and commenting :) JC and Theresa's Sound-World are my favourites from Dirty. JC is so unlike anything else and the noise sections in TS-W are just mindblowing.
I know how you feel. Back in the days when I started listening to SY nobody I knew did the same. But don't think about it. Put on the SY records one at the time :) I have done a lot of the songs from CiS - you can find them somewhere scattered around in my videos :)
Hey man, your guitar playing is amazing!!! I've never heard teen age riot or sugar kane on acoustic before until I saw your videos. I've always wanted to play those songs but I don't have the skill or the sheet music to do so. Is there any advice you can give to someone who is trying to get better and play those songs or is there way I can to those songs as well? Thanks in advance.
Thanks a lot my friend - appreciate those words! Before I started this acoustic project I too couldn't find any SY acoustic cover versions and so I just found the acoustic way the best method to try to solve the tuning-riddle so to say. I leave it to others to judge if I succeeded :) Nevertheless I've personally learned a lot about the SY-universe and a lot about tunings too. I mean, a lot of these tunings are not correct or the songs are not played as they should but to me that doesn't really matter because I felt the right way was to combine the best of Thurston, Lee and Kim. My best advice would be to find the song you want to learn, find the right tuning (or ask me), and then just try to follow when you press play along with a lot of video-watching (SY live shows, my versions or others). That will get yo a lot of the way. And feel free to ask me any time! Good luck!
Thank you sir, appreciate the words :) From the beginning I decided not to sing due to the fact that it might ruin everything, haha. I'll keep my focus on the guitarplay :) Thanks!
I have seen all your Sonic Youth's covers and in all of them your sound is awesome. Thanks from Spain
Thank you sir, appreciate those words indeed! :)
I'm really glad (and quite amazed!) that you actually watched them all - nevertheless I thank you!

Thanks! I've always loved that break section ever since I heard the song for the first time. It's so calm and yet buzzing. Thanks!

My God that tuning seems like it would be painful to get into. Both E strings up to G?

Thanks a lot Newton! Appreciated!
Great job man, but you should really start singing over these tunes!
I have done Reena yes. You can find it in my videos :)
Let me know if I can help you in any way.
It's a cool song.

Ángel Castellanos Martínez - that’ll be the GABDEG tuning.
Haha! :)
