Crazy how I was just looking for a comparison of oil pump and what power comes from the change. 20hp is crazy. Thank you for all your informational videos!
I installed a K24 in my MR2 about 6 months ago. Bought a Type S oil pump and never installed it. Now it looks like I have no choice but to put it in. Crazy gains...
I cant wait to bring you my car...its a 1987-1988 thunderbird turbocoupe but with a merc racing supercharged k20a2...the caveat is i have yet to find a clean tbird and the k20a2 is sitting waiting for a thunderbird lol but im defintely bringing it to you for tuning
Your car is super nice! Would you mind sharing info on the Hybrid racing cold air intake you are using? Which car/application is it for? Do you have any issues with the filter hitting the wheel well liner? Thanks in advance!
It’s not my car, but I have the same CAI on my Type-S so I wanted to weigh in. It’s a great system, and cause it’s silicone you can actually cut if needed which is what I had to do on mine since the SK2 Ultra Mani & SK2 Throttle body come out further than stock. I think I cut a lil under an inch to get it to fit. I also trimmed around the fender liner.
Well it's not "just an oil pump" it's the balance shafts or their removal is what caused the gain in power, I've heard K24's are rough af without them though so it all depends on your priorities!
Something I've always wondered....how is the RSX Type-S not rough af? What are they doing to keep it smooth without using balance shafts on the oil pump?
I’m on oem motor mounts for my Tsx and installed a ported type s pump from 4 piston and the vibration has been just a bit more noticeable but not harsh at all probably way worse with stiff mounts?
@@TheRealTypeC Okay, but a lot of cars came with the K20, right? Why is it only the RSX type-S that apparently doesn't have balance shafts? I could probably google this...but I'm already here. lol
Do you have any videos on a before and after a ported manifold and a bigger throttle body? I enjoyed your video on the throttle bodies which helped me with the choice. I ported the manifold on my k24w accord 4-6 and was curious on other k series ported manifolds.
Answer is ALOT. I had a K24A2 with a Type S pump that started knocking, couldn’t reuse the pump so I used the JDM K24A oil pump instead. Almost forgot that I had 75A engine mounts in the car when I started up the JDM K24A, opposed to not being able to see out my Broadway mirror at idle with the K24A2
That vibration is in the bearings weather or not there are balance shafts. The forces still exist. They just cancel out outside of between the balance shaft bearings and the crankshaft bearings.
20whp is just stupid for a oil pump... Its the only time I have seen something like that. If it would be that difference not a single stock pump k24 would surprass 220whp... The american whp are a joke himself. Seems like an add to gain oil pump jobs to me
i guess i dont understand why you show the x axis in MPH instead of RPM, kinda of makes it hard to comprehend whats going on. you did a 5th or 6th gear pull to 126 mph??? All those bolt ons just to restrict it all with that 2.5" exhaust?
it literally made 246 whp already....... running E on just a FBO n/a engine is an absolute waste of money. If this was a "fully built" k24 I'd say otherwise. Just the exhaust would probably gain this man over 10+ HP over the 2.5"
@@jackhofalot6705 all motor responds better than turbo a 300 Honda all motor would keep up with 400 hp turbo cars cause all motor has better throttle response TH-cam it there’s a guy with a build b series 270 running 500 turbo Hondas and Subarus
Wow, he'd probably get 80 whp by eliminating the alternator if the oil pump was that much parasitic drag! Or, maybe the correction factors are way different since it's been several months and the temperature and humidity are significantly different. Back to back comparisons would probably tell a different story.
This is the one modification I wish I could undo. Without the balance shafts now, I pretty much hate driving my car because of the extreme MVH motor vibration. 🫨
@@oleyeller3256 Yes, I hate it. I've got a beautiful, 500 HP turbo Civic, clean, just about everything done to it, Type-R replica, that I bought new in 2004. And I never drive it because of the vibration. And I'm pretty well accustomed to daily driving my racecars... I don't recommend the balance shafts delete at all.
@@groovezog666thank you for that info. I was doubting if it was the right call to not do k20 pump since it will be my daily! I’ve read a lot that people said it wasn’t that noticeable.
Was not expecting that much of a power gain from just the oil pump!
Cool to see the results
Thanks for sharing 👍🏼

20whp from just an oil pump is insane! Ive seen 5-7whp gains but 20whp is unheard.
That is nick with his usual bulshit. Testing cars in sumer and than in winter uncorrected... I dint know why he posting this dumb shit
Thanks for sharing this! Highlights the parasitic loss due to the balancer at higher rpms.
And people will still say this is fake
always thanks to see these interesting results, thanks friend
Still have to do mine! Very similar set up…. Nice to see the gains.
How much difference in NVH do you feel in the car without balance shafts ? I am curious how much vibration changes with just that swap
Great video. Love all the k20/24 videos.

Beautiful Civic. Great power from just a upgraded oil pump.
Love the informing videos . Such a nice EP3 .
Yup, Worth it.
Wow! Great job Nick!
That's actually amazing
Wow, impressive gains! Thanks for making this video.
Love your videos!!!! Have learned a lot from all ur videos. Keep it coming 👍👍
damn those are good gains
Did you get a new camera? This video look super HD for some reason.

Put an ati crank pulley it should help a lot with vibrations

Just needs a set of cams with springs and retainers now and send it to 8k. I'm sure it's a blast the way it is now though.

I don't forget The RSX Type S oil pump and the oil pump on the K20A3 in the base RSX are the same ones.
is that only in the rsx? k20a3 in the ep3 doesnt have it. just a big clunky one

Thanks for sharing this stuff! As always gave us useful info)
I'd love to see a similar comparison with a K24Z if it the opportunity ever rolls around.
Awesome, realy like the comparison videos!!
What are you redlining at with the new type-s oil pump?
Imagine that in my K20z3 full bolt at 9000 rpms I need to do this now
Won't make that much. It be like 230-240whp 160 165 torq
That is more than i expected. How much did you have to change in the tune?
the 4 piston oil pump is a little bit better than type s.?Or is not worth it..? Thank you..
Was it a ported oil pump or stock oem ? I have a k24a with a 4piston ported one so im curious
Something is definitely not right. But the fact that its not identical to old setup shows theres definitely a gain.
On the H22 you get 15 whp from removing balance shafts. About 5-7 whp with h22 type S oil pump. So 20 whp is real
Is there an equivalent pump for the K24Z?
How much more NVH do you get deleting the balance shafts?
I’m curious about NVH as well ☝️

👌👌👌
Would it make similar gains on a k20z3 ?
Damn K24 all the way! 😅
full 3" exhaust would of been another 10whp. still very solid
Maybe he likes having his torque
@@latuba2478 torque would be about same
How would torque change if you're changing what's after the collector anyway? It wouldn't affect scavenging
can you make a video based on ignition timing resulting the different from maybe 20 to 33 degrees across the map

Agree. Too much. 10 hp maximum. You need to consider air density, humidity and temperature difference to be the same to compare such little things.
if you have a z3 is the type a pump an upgrade worth while ?
I was just asking myself this lol
Hey this looks a lot like my old car lol wonder if it is!
test a hybrid cai vs stock or short ram

Will you please tune my car. Also have K24a2 in a civic.
Is he running kpro ?
Lol, yes.
with a 3 inch exhaust & e85 this car will make 250hp na
yup I tuned a k24 with 50 vtec and type s pump on e85 that made 259hp
it sucks there is no e85 in canada so its not an option for us
