    Not a breakup song. Although Plant didn't write it , he sung it in the perspective of leaving his wife to tour.

      John and Consuelo: glad you out that debate to rest because despite all that, wow! What a great version. Such power! Just freaking enjoy it. Used to blast this out our dorm windows onto the Quad in college in spring ‘69. It either got thumbs up and dancing or dirty looks.

    • @Databyter
      @Databyter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This makes sense. I never really thought it was a permanent breakup either, at least not a completely voluntary one. He is singing about forces calling him. And also the pull to go home. In my mind I translated this to the sort of relationship Old World sailors had with their Polynesian families. No matter how happy, healthy, and idealic, there was a call to get back on the sea, and a call to go "home". In my mind it is the requiem of the traveler who MUST travel to live, but Loves his woman and home, and sometimes they aren't the same thing. Databyter

    • @heliotropezzz333
      @heliotropezzz333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Databyter A lot of Led Zeppelin's songs refer to rambling, travelling or the lure of the open road. It's obviously a theme that appeals to Robert, and also relates to the nomadic life of musicians on tour. However the original song was written by Anne Bredon.

      I liken the band members to a football team.
      Robert Plant is the star quarterback.
      Jimmy Page is the flashy, talented wide receiver.
      Bonham on drums is the thundering, Hall of Fame running back.

During the reading of the will and what her wishes were they played this Led Zeppelin song along with Pink Floyd The great gig in the sky. She was a musician who played keyboards and guitar. Never really thought of as an acoustic guitarist (more a blurry=fingered, shoot-from-the-hit rock machine), Jimmy Page shows some pretty delicate skills on this one. He's up against considerable opposition on the burgeoning British folk and folk rock scene of the time, and you can detect it in his playing.

    Possibly my favorite LZ song. Mellow, then the mighty drums around Plant's screaming vocals. I respect the fact she got really into it at the end realizing what masterpiece it is.

    Get the words to the song. He’s singing about a place called Kashmir and JPJ made the music in his piano sound very Himalayan like. And so the music matched the story PERFECTLY. This group can not be criticized. They were and still are geniuses!!!
