    This song came on the radio in the car a couple of months after my wife left leaving me to care for 4 little boys from 1, 3, 4 and 6 years of age. I'll never forget looking in the rearview mirror as 3 of my boys started crying, even though we had only listened to just the beginning. I had to turn it off and explain I would never leave them. It's a great song but sometimes makes me tear up 11 years later, thinking about their sweet faces in the rear view mirror.

    It isn't until you hear the song, but you realize, he doesn't want to leave. He knows he has to, but he doesn't want to. The vocalization really helps understand what's going on with the inner struggle between having to, but not wanting to. But it's those drums and that coordination, that really makes us feel the anger and anxiety decision like that takes to make. It's a very powerful feeling that they have tapped into. When the listener realize it's an experience or an emotion, they can relate to. It will leave you speechless, at first. The thing about Zeppelin is. It doesn't accidentally hit you in your soul. It was designed to do that. As musicians, it is our job, to arrange music and words to elicit a specific response. And nobody, does that better, then Led Zeppelin.

      But there are good musicians out there. go check out Rhett Shull (th-cam.com/video/NVy4c4M-mBU/w-d-xo.html). Even Zeppelin used tech. all of those guys were inventing new devices and tools to make the sound they wanted. the difference is in the instrument. Page, jones and Bonham played more traditional instruments, kids now use computers as instruments. its a matter of taste. I prefer the sound of traditional rock instruments (guitar, bass, drum. heavy on guitar)

    I have not listened to this tune in a long time. I sit here and just take the magical journey. I have been listening to Zeppelin a lot lately and just gained a renewed appreciation for the talent, musicianship, and genius of these guys. We are all so lucky that they have left this musical legacy for us to enjoy. If I were to suggest something for the people who are just discovering this music, that would greatly enhance their experience. Find yourself some old school electronics to listen to it on. I would suggest a nice two channel set up . I used a pair of Polk SDA"s and a Carver amp. There is lots of other great choices from the 70's and 80's.

    Hey Jamel thanks for reacting to the best ever Led Zep song. Your reactions are always brilliant. I am an old English dude and I first heard this song when I was a teenager. It blew my mind then and it still does today. The power and emotion in Robert's voice is out of this world. Keep your great reactions coming man!

    Seeing how strongly you react to Zeppelin brings back that feeling i had when i first started listening to them in middle school in the early 90s. Even though I've heard the albums back to back hundreds of times, it feels new again.

    To me, Zeppelin is the greatest rock group, even over the Beatles, someone commented that you could pick any song(they're all good). Me and my friends wouldnt pick a Zeppelin song to put on in car, we would pick sides of a cassette(70's-90's tape device smaller than an 8track) from Zeppelin. Side 1 from Physical Graffiti, or side 2 of Led Zeppelin 3, were 2 I often picked.

      @@MidwestFarmToys Without the Beatles, there is no Zep. Every rock musician I've ever heard has said the Beatles are always in the room when they play. See, e.g., Steve Lukather, who knows from whence he speaks.

    • @relayerdave
      @relayerdave 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MidwestFarmToys I never talked about " better." I simply pointed out that the Beatles changed everything. That cannot be disputed. And yes, there are times when I wanna listen to Zep, and others when I wanted a Beatles tune---there are so many of them.

    Better late then never…..imagine being 13 in the mid 80’s and hearing this for the 1st time. That’s the summer I’ll never forget. Changed my life all other music was garbage after that. Then G n R hit the scene and I was blown away again. And thank them for kicking open the door for grunge…. The very last area of great music without a doubt. But Led Zeppelin will always be the gods of rock.
