Robert Plant is easily one of the greatest singers of all-time. Jimmy Page is a fantastic guitarist, John Paul Jones rocks the bass and keyboards like no body else's business, and John Bonham is the nastiest beast on drums, with a flare that swings like no one else can.
Robert Plant used his voice as an instrument better than any other singer ever.
sometimes denigrated as a musician but I saw him last year and my god he is so clever in his mid 70s knowing what he is capable of(which to be honest is still way more than most of us are capable of) and still in a most musical way using his voice

I agree. Most of what passes for music these days is just sound and noise, alot of it computer created. They aren't musicians anymore, just technitions.
I've been lucky to see it all live from the Beatles to the Stones to Pink Floyd to Hendrix to Cream; Led Zep is the GOAT "rock band".
Some things you can't compare. They all hold their own pinnacle in a diff way.
There's still great musicians making great music. You just have to look a little harder than before. That's thanks to the suits that only care about easy money.
I always say this is possibly their best song, possibly the best rock/blues song ever.

The last waltz I believe was longer.. but you had to play long back in the 70s.. ala the band, Allman brother's, Leonard skanard, etc.

You know that man is some serious eye candy! Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands ever! LOVE THE ZEP!
Can you imagine being able to perform this way after already being on stage for 2 hours. They were pros! Their concerts were always several hours long and there were no breaks. There was no dancers to eat up time. There were no costume changes either. You can hear the toll that this evening took on Robert's voice in "Stairway to Heaven" which was performed at the end of the concert since that was the one everybody was waiting for. An interesting side note is that the money they were supposed to get from the box office for this concert was stolen. No body ever was charged for it, although their manager always believed it was the guy who managed the ticket counters at MSG! I believe they lost around $200,000 dollars, a rather large sum of money in 1973. Love You Jayy!!!!!!!! I enjoy you so much!!!!!!!!

Just to clear up a mistake, this song was performed early in the show, JPJ still has his jacket on, and "Stairway" was perhaps 6 or 7 songs in. "Whole Lotta Love" closed out the show, which was common until Kashmir came along. I encourage you to check out any of those songs from this performance along with "The Rain Song" and "Dazed and Confused." Each one highlights the extraordinary talent and versatility of this incredible band. One of the greatest live performances ever.
Went to see them in 1976 at Tampa Stadium, but a storm broke out over the stadium and rioting started...(we were walking in a bit into the first song, but before we made in they shut down all the lights and it was crazy...almost got crushed in the packed hallway leading to the inside of the stadium.) We were so bummed out! At least I got to see the 'UnLedded' tour at the Miami Arena in '95 and then was lucky enough to see Jimmy Page in Raleigh, NC in 2000 with, 'The Black Crows' -lotta Zep tunes and Jimmy was in rare form -just awesome!

i saw at their last ever concert knebworth 1980 i cried all the way through they did a hour and a half oncore
Knebworth was 1979. The last concert was in Berlin 7th July 1980

The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd ........ and those 4 bands all can be traced back to the blues.

Back in the 70s when VCRs first hit the market. I bought this concert/movie. It cost a little under$100 but was worth it. I still have it on tape, DVD, Blu-Ray and downloaded to my external hard drive. I took my girlfriend to see this at movie theater in 1978. My ALL TIME favorite band and favorite concert movie

@@colourfaze86 you mean Manzerak did, just like JPJ, the Master. John Paul Jones was a session bassist/pianist/Mellotron/any damn instrument that was needed on 60+ #1 hits BEFORE Led Zeppelin. Give the man his due. Everyone knows he is the best. Jimmy Page says he is the most naturally talented musician of the 4 of them.....let that sink in. The other 3 are John Henry Bonham, the greatest, the King, lol. Robert Plant. Jimmy Page. All of them at or near the very top at what they do. After Led Zeppelin, JPJ became a fantastic producer. Anyway, have a good day.

They played this during their concert at Arizona State University in 1973. It was the second time I'd seen Led Zeppelin . The first was in 1969 in Pasadena, Calif.

Maybe this would be the time for a cold, cold shower. I was there in 75 and 77 live, in the same place as Led Zeppelin. They were astonishing, amazing, magical, and never duplicated. Just a life changing experience! ♥️♥️😭♥️
I wish I was born just a couple of years earlier. I grew up in the 70s, but was only 13 in 1970. I never got the chance to see Led Zeppelin live!! I lived on Eastern Long Island and never went to Madison Square Garden. I used to go to Nassau Colliseum and the Calderone back then.
The studio version of this song from Led Zeppelin III may well be the most mind blowing blues-rock recording ever made.
So happy you got to see this finally - it is the finest performance of this song and my favourite plus there’s Robert Plant to look at in those jeans! I saw that look you gave girl - I was exactly the same 😂

I KNOW all genres. I was the ripe age at the right time for ALL genres..a tennager in the 1980's which was the beginnings of rap. Rap comes from rock n roll believe this or not. My household as a child was all of rock n roll. As a teen in the 80's I had a younger brother that gravitated to rap. Because of him I got into Snoop Dog big time & everything that was hip at the time..absolutely loved! I can say 100% that the rock n roll genre will always be here to stay in my heart deeply. Rap is a genre that can go.I will not miss. I am well rounded in rap. I can say that rock n roll is dear to my heart.🔴
I would suggest “Kashmir “ live at Knebworth in 1979 and “Achilles Last Stand” at the same concert.

You should check out another great live Zeppelin performance... "How Many More Times" (Danmarks Radio 1969)... they were so young but it is such an electric performance!! Zeppelin is my fav and the greatest band of all time!!!

Sweet girl- I’m an old gal- 72 and I love the way you sway when you are listening to a ballad- have you listened to The Moody Blues? ‘Nights in White Satin’- ‘Tuesday Afternoons’- love songs abound with is group- they also can rock out- their first hit was in 1967- I was 15 and I tell you I’m still in love with the lead singer Justin Haywood- ‘Nights in White Satin’ the lead singer wrote when he was 19 and very much in love. The white satin sheets he sings of were a gift from her. still drool watching him sing-🥲. Also I saw your reaction to Procol Harum- these bands are of my generation and I listen everyday to as many as I can. You seem so sweet and you are really listening to so many different bands.
