    Just did this. Followed along w/ a lot of pausing during disconnection of TCAM module from wiring. It worked! Thanks for this video!

    Thank you so very much for the backup battery Velcro mount tip 😄 This is such a useful hack. I did need to watch a different video to learn how to remove the C-pillar trim, but it's easy once you know how

    Thanks! A guy in another video tried this and it didn’t work for him but it did work for me. This difference might have been that he re-energized the TCAM after just 2 or 3 minutes whereas I waited over 10.

    Thanks, this made me able to fix the problem in 15-20 minutes instead of calling a tow-truck and have it sent to the workshop.
    Sent a mail to my service technician and he called me back and said this was exactly what he would have done, and that he could do a rollback to previous software verision if I wanted. I said that if it happens again I will come in for that.

      Thanks for the comment! Just had my first service done (cabin air filter) and tech said they are all rolling back TCAM software to previous version. More stable apparently.

    Thanks!!! My dealer 4 hrs away and reset myself. Works!! I got stranded because I use the activity key. Know now to only use the full key so I have the actual key to get it.

    Brother you are a life safer, it works and yes, please wait 10 minutes to plug back the tcam

    Excellent video thank you. I know which tools to carry with me and how to do it.

    Thanks for the video. I did this once and fixed my problems. Someone on the polestar-forums suggested making sure the car is actually dead when you unplug the 12V battery, as it could still use the DC system to power car systems. The blinking red light in the mirror is a good indicator. If the car isn't completely dead, pulling the TCAM battery will not help. Unless you leave it out for a long time.

      @mingng3482 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, or the charge port light…easier to see if you’re at the back of the car waiting to disconnect the tcam battery

    • @mingng3482
      @mingng3482 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the video! I discovered it’s easier to release the battery tab with a screwdriver in the metal cutout slot right above the tab

    Well done.... It's a shame on a new vehicle that costs with all the packs £61600 in the UK.. this is necessary once let alone multiple times.
    Thanks for showing us how to make it easier to access this battery... Should have been more accessible at time of manufacture.

    Nice! Thanks for the tip. I was wondering what kind of trickle charger port did you use? When/how often do you use it?

    • @prannermedia842
      @prannermedia842  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a standard trickle charger connector I bolted to both terminals. I hook it up to the charger when I go away and won’t be using the car for a week or two (or more).

    • @thomasgriffin4714
      @thomasgriffin4714 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the car is charging from the EVSE, I assume a trickle charger isn't necessary? The manual says to set the charge to 40% or 50% and leave the car plugged in when storing for 3 months or more. It sounds like you are not able to charge during storage and/or you don't think the 12v battery will last 3 months.

    What’s the reason for having to disconnect the 12v first?

  • @rayf9194
    @rayf9194 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    On a nearly $100,000 vehicle, here in Australia anyway, this just should not be happening!

      Name a car brand that does not have recalls, shortcomings or other repair issues etc in ICE or EV format. The reality is that all new brands and vehicle models are almost always more reliable than their predecessors, especially considering the increased tech in the newer offerings.
      We are in a new technology phase for almost all brands involved in EVs. Growing pains are going to occur for all. Are they devastating? Not with the vast majority of P* users including me. Do some issues occur for some users? Yes. Are they decreasing overall?... it seems this is the case.

    Thanks for sharing! Any idea if this issue is happening on MY 2023 as well? Hopefully PS can offer a permanent fix for it. Maybe a OTA update 🤞?

    • @prannermedia842
      @prannermedia842  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don’t know. I have a 2021 and only needed to do it once. My ownership experience has been almost flawless. But as I can see online, a few haven’t been so lucky.

    • @jameshetfield5894
      @jameshetfield5894 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t heard of it happening to any of the 2023 cars on the forum.

      @@jameshetfield5894 I just got brand new 2023 XC40 recharge P6 last week, which is basically a same car, and it had this issue from the moment I left the dealer :(

  • @georgiosevgenios7510
    @georgiosevgenios7510 ปีที่แล้ว

    I assume that the issue had to do with TCAM malfunction (No LTE service)? Additionaly, does this work for XC60 2023 as well? Thanks

    • @prannermedia842
      @prannermedia842  ปีที่แล้ว

      It might, if it runs on Google Automotive. But I’m not sure.

    Hello. What is this fixing?

  • @irvinbrown724
    @irvinbrown724 ปีที่แล้ว

    Has this been resolved with MY23 on v2.3, or is this still a common issue?

    • @prannermedia842
      @prannermedia842  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve only had this happen once. It may have been resolved as I haven’t heard much about it lately.

    Please I have some questions can you help me

  • @rarelyaccurate6252
    @rarelyaccurate6252 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did this resolve whatever issue you were having?

    • @prannermedia842
      @prannermedia842  ปีที่แล้ว

      It did. I had the issue once more so the hack was useful. Just parked to shop and took the battery with me. Came back a while later and put it back in and solved the glitch.
      I think recent software updates have fixed the issue for most PS2’s.

    Instead of disconnecting the 12V battery, I think it would be much easier to disconnect the fuse that feeds the TCAM unit. Anyone know which fuse, though? :)

    All, please do not do this. If the state you live in has a lemon law, this will void any refund or arbitration.

      I’ve only had to do it once to fix Google maps not knowing where the car was, but I did read on forums that quite a few had to do it more than once. Some even keep tools in their car to do it on the road! My experience has been almost perfect. I hope yours is too.

    WTF so I'm hacking TCAM in my $100K brand new car because Polestar can't get their stuff togetherz. Appalling!!

    Should’ve gone to Tesla

    • @haveaseatplease
      @haveaseatplease ปีที่แล้ว

      And loose your steering wheel or glass panoramic roof driving it out of the showroom? Or to sweat uncomfortably on the plastic seats? Tesla is a nice software company, but not a competent car manufacturer.
