I had a blank 4G icon for a week. My WiFi did work so hotspot was a temporary solution. Last Monday (Dec 28) I called my Polestar tech on Volvo and he asked me to come in and do an update. It took approx 20 minutes and my connectivity problems where gone. Not sure but the update could have had a fix for this so it may be recommended to contact your repair shop and get this.

Love my P2, but only had it 3 weeks, and it's been to the garage once (after effectively breaking down) and now having the 4g/ software issues you mention here. Feels like they have just released the car too soon.
Just a tip. I had my PS2 updated at the Volvo dealer. After the latest update, the internet was not working anymore. They spent 4 hours trying to fix the problem and I had to come back for more research this week. Tethering was also not working anymore so it was a bit annoying. I did a network reset in the setting menu. That worked like a charm. Besides the signal icon the LTE sign came back and so did the (Spotify)music Maybe this will help people who have the same issue.
For me 4G stopped working out of nowhere. Going to that screen just shows me the local T-mobile page and no way to connect, only to register. Even registering for an account then selecting the free plan doesn’t connect and throws an error. Really frustrated by the software in this car.

Fixed my WiFi by leaving the car parked up for a few days without use. The car goes into a sleep mode which resets a number of the cars functions. This fixed my WiFi and the fact that my connect button wasn’t illuminated.

Hi folks, these problems may have been fixed in later firmware updates. However, they do indicate a distinct lack of adequate pre-release testing for the updates involved. That is worrying. Supposing the steering or braking got messed up?
I have had the same mirror problem and also a peridoic problem . The car was booked in to the Volvo Service Centre for this and for other issues. The only issue the garage solved was the radar not reading road signs properly. They did a software update - it is now working correctly. I was told that the mirror problem is a known issue and Polestar are working on it. The other issue is the very poor milage 120-150 maximum - this was prior to the cold weather - Volvo garage said that they relied on Polestar to provide the software and that they had spoken to Polestar who asked me to contact them. The problem is I contacted Polestar in the first place about all these issues and they asked me to book it in to the Volvo service centre. So now in a tennis match. Can't get a proper answer from anyone or solutions !!! I too love the car but given the price etc I do not expect this level of support and issues. BTW no issues with connectivity via 4G but the same problem with wifi and also no Manual. Interestingly I looked at the manuals setting and there it said that the Manuel had been updated today (31/12), but still no Manuel on the screen.
This is a different experience to mine with Polestar support. They didn't ask me to book myself in to a Volvo garage, they did it for me. The garage then got in touch and already had all the information to get me booked in and fixed. Your situation sounds annoying. Mine, whilst annoying was at least sorted out professionally.
These issues are really irritating but we’ve had similar on our Tesla Model S for 4 years. I wonder if this is something that is still being looked at and nothing directly related to any specific car. We like your videos very much and are looking forward to our Polestar 2 arriving in the new year. Thank you for teaching us more about our new car
I have similar issues with 4G-connection since several weeks, reboot of the car system needed (20 sec. hold screen) to get it back working again and the need to reconnect the phone by first deleting the stored blue tooth connection in the settings of the phone. I have stopped trying to connect to home-wifi, it works to connect to the iphone hotspot but that is it. Apparently also the security of the home-wifi needs to be WPA2 or higher with AES encryption (not TKIP), your router needs that option. Possibly the 4G issue is linked to connecting and disconnecting multiple times (when stepping out of the car) while waiting or other reasons, which happens a lot in holiday times. The 4G signal is oke but multiple connecting/disconnecting seems a hurdle for the system. Reconnecting automatically can happen again but after a certain time.
I read somewhere you can toggle the mirrors by double-tapping the window key? Maybe with automatic mirror tilting disabled. So I'm not sure if that works, but if it does it might be a viable workaround. Of course it working automatically would be preferred :)
Yes annoying software - you're so right. Total loss of 4G signal, and then the connection network - even when 4G magically reappears! Loss of Google maps at random times, and again whilst actually en route (lucky I can read a map!). Not phone connection, no contacts... oh I could go on and on... AND - braking for no reason (including on the motorway, with kids onboard). Windows opening when the car is out of sight? Air con on full, everytime the car is started... Polestar's response? I've been waiting over 2 weeks for them to reply. Stop building new models, fix the ones we've spent money buying into.
Just been out to the car and I'm seeing what you are, my 4g has a cross, the user manual is white screen apart from the all categories which seems to work until you drill down to the exact thing and then white screen again. We had a case about a week ago when we left home that 4g wasnt working but after half a mile or so it came on, we put this down to a localised signal failure or an outage by the phone company. We will check this again later when we go out and see if a different location solves the problem.
1hr later . . .just been out to the car again and 4g is fully operational. I'm guessing it must be something like atmospherics or coverage here, will keep checking though
Sure PS2 is a really nice car but at this price point you probably dont expect this kind of issues. The 4G X is hilarious!!! Makes me feel so happy w my cheap id3 w software issues. U and me both bro!
Normally old hotspots that you connected to show up so that you can forget them. If they only show up when you're close to them you would never be able for forget that wifi password of your friend that you could borrow for a few seconds. Maybe you don't want your car to auto connect when you're close to it in the future. So on phones saved wifi networks show as well; so you can choose to forget them.
I have had exactly the same issues with 4g and WiFi since delivery a couple of weeks ago. Took it to Volvo, got the very latest update but it has not resolved the 4g issue. Wifi now scans correctly but doesn't auto-connect when no 4g. Support has been very responsive but if it is a systemic issue they need to get it resolved ASAP. Car runs on internet so should be always available. Frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be a "download playlist" option for spotify on Android auto so you're left without music too. I have reopened a support ticket with them and will let you know. It's probably going to be either an intermittent account/profile issue with the 4g provider or it is trying to connect to the wrong network which doesn't have a contract with Polestar. All the talk of T-Mobile, my car is actually connected to the O2 network so I registered for Hotspot drive via internet terms and conditions screen. Will see how that goes.
to be fair also the 4g issue looks like a polestar issues but then again could be signal/hardware/software based. The other thing on the apps like spotify and youtube, the makers of those apps should deliver a working offline mode on their apps. Android in it selves already gives them the low level tooling to acces storage etc. I can understand pointing at polestar really but in reality it is somewhat more diffuse....

an offline version of the user manual seems obvious a fix polestar should implement and maybe then issue a warning on screen that since it is operating offline you might not be seeing the latest version
I have the same issue. Even the letters 4g disappeared just the triangle and WiFi wouldn’t pick up any networks. Back to the garage for two days got the car back yesterday then within 24 hours I get the little x next to the 4g. Sweep down from the top and just get no notifications. Connected to my hotspot and went into terms of service and it all says connected (but it would do as I’m connected via my phone). Re booted everything suggested on here but not working.
Also and I’m sure others have mentioned, manual is internet only and broken on their site. Due to your no connection issue this wouldn’t have worked anyway.
Car is for driving, not for just listening to music. I doubt that Polestar does not allow your phone to use bluetooth connection for both music streaming and sync up with Google maps/TomTom app and display it on screen. Curious how BMW never have these kind of issues, but then again, they are not really a ''smart car'' that doesnt work without 4g...
I believe someone worked out you can fix the 4G problem by re accepting the 4G terms and conditions. Look for one of the earlier Teslabjorn Polestar videos.
All those 'tricks' don't work in some situations. Yesterday I also got no 4g, and checking facebook, a lot of other Polestar owners reported not functioning 4g at that time.

Let’s face it, Polestar launched their P2 before the big wave of new EV’s hitting the EU-market; VW ID-x, Skoda Enyaq, Audi Q4 e-tron, Seat El Born/Formentor etc... This rush and battle for the fast growing EV-EU-market has some downsides like we are confronted with now. In the end it was basically the only alternative to the Tesla model 3 (beside the more expensive Audi e-tron) at that time. As long as Polestar works and keeps working on fixing the bugs and improving the car by updates it is fine for me. Probably this will go hand in hand with the updates for Volvo P8 both from the same consortium Geely/volvo and a lot of shared hardware. But they should be faster with updates and launching the app as they will loose momentum and loose their customer base based on bad reviews on internet. Of course other new EV’s will have similar startup issues but not known at the time they come to market.
definitely the same 4g issue in china basically for everyone who owns the PS2, and the mirror issue is the same with my S90, so it's more likely a deeper level issue of the cars which Volvo manufactur but not the simple software
For me 4G stopped working out of nowhere. Going to the terms of service screen just shows me the local T-mobile page and no way to connect, only to register. I have same 4G issue in my Volvo XC40 P8 (and actually same symbol). I think it is using same google automotive platform than P2. The root cause must be in google android.
Teething issues - shouldn't be a surprise I would think, anyone who has got a Polestar would surely be aware they were beta testing as the cars are rolled out? I'm sure they will resolve these issues but they will take time. If you want a car with less teething issues then get a Tesla, everything else is very new and will have these early software glitches for the next few years as they iron them out
Yes but the ones showing are all networks that were password protected and I didn't connect to them. Also I cannot remove them as I would on my android phone.
Personally I love the car but I am getting close to asking Polestar to take it back and deliver a new one when all the bugs have been ironed out. 4g has been offline for days now. WiFi has never worked. Preconditioning only seems to work when car is plugged in. Reversing cameras intermittently do not work at all. Extremely slow charging. GPS signal disappears for hours sometimes. Big shame as Polestar support is very responsive and as I said, for all the faults, it's a cracking car.
i would think google just provides a base platform software layer really so polestar provides all above that geared to our car. First line of support and therefore first in line to support is polestar not google. if the issue is deemed to be at the lower layers of the software polestar can then contact google to jointly fix an issue.
actually the wifi list is an android thing and indeed it will keep a list of wifi networks you previously connected too. This also works the same in for instance iPhone... So i fear polestar cannot get rid of that list to be honest.
Yes, I don't mind it being there but what I don't understand is why they are there. I don't think I connected to all of those networks! Maybe just the gridserve one
@@ShortCircuitPS2 in a connected car like our polestar it might just connect to open wifi by a quick click somewhere on the screen. That would then add this network to the list also.
See the answer of the support Polestar toddy: Hi Wim, Thank you again for your message. We regret to hear that you are having problems with your Internet connection. If you have a problem with your 4G, we have steps for you: You can reactivate your 4G connection. You must first turn on your WiFi and then you have to connect your Hotspot on your phone or with your WiFi connection. After this you are connected to your Hotspot / WiFi and you have to go to your settings on the center console and then click on "Privacy and data exchange" and then on "Internet Conditions". You will then be taken to the T-Mobile screen and then select your country. Finally, you have to switch off your wifi in your car and you will receive a notification (or back to the “Internet conditions”) from T-mobile on your screen and you must accept it. Now your Internet connection should work and you will appear above a "Signal" symbol. If you have problems with your Wifi connection: This will take you to a Polestar Service Point for a TCAM reset. Here they check if there are problems with your software or receiver of your internet. If you have any questions, we are of course at your disposal. With best regards Your Polestar Team

WiFi has never worked. Preconditioning only seems to work when car is plugged in. Reversing cameras intermittently do not work at all. Extremely slow charging. GPS signal disappears for hours sometimes. Big shame as Polestar support is very responsive and as I said, for all the faults, it's a cracking car.
quick question, you don't have a CD player anymore, right? so if you are offline because of 4G you can't play your music?
You can play music via your smartphone, using bluetooth connection.
Isn't this the first car with Google Android Automotive? Thought Google would be on any software problems right away!
i would think google just provides a base platform software layer really so polestar provides all above that geared to our car. First line of support and therefore first in line to support is polestar not google. if the issue is deemed to be at the lower layers of the software polestar can then contact google to jointly fix an issue.
More videos featuring your pooch please!
actually the wifi list is an android thing and indeed it will keep a list of wifi networks you previously connected too.
@@ShortCircuitPS2 Are you set to auto connect to Wi-Fi when available?
@@1evilpie I am, maybe I'll try turning that off and see what happens
Can you swap the SIM for a known working one to see if that helps?
You don't have access there.
The 4G problem seems to impacting a lot of owners which leads me to think it’s a network hardware issue on the 4G side.
Also the cars for test drives here in Switzerland had that problem...so I would say it is a wide spread problem, but the WiFi thing is strange
Hmmmm. Not sure I want to spend £50k on a gadget that doesn't work.

Old. problems fixed years ago,
See the answer of the support Polestar toddy:
Hi Wim,
Thank you again for your message.
We regret to hear that you are having problems with your Internet connection. If you have a problem with your 4G, we have steps for you:
You can reactivate your 4G connection.
With best regards
Your Polestar Team
Following these instructions seems to have worked for me at least. See what tomorrow brings!
