- After seeing on my Heat Pump App that the Pond Temperature was 6.9 C instead of 20 C I panicked! Outside the Pond water level had dropped by about 4 ins. That meant the Drum wasn't working and the skimmer also. Nothing was getting back to the pond because the moving bed had emptied. The fact that the moving bed had emptied meant the 6.9C was in the empty moving bed. The actual temperature was 17C so nowhere near as bad! Phew! See what I did to temporarily sort it out.

Hi (I would use your first name but sorry I don't know it). Yeah I like to check them regularly and I also use surveillance cameras to keep and eye on things.

Thanks. It was just as well that I checked the temperature. Unfortunately the App hasn't got an alarm setting for if the temp drops too much. A major omission in the App as far as I'm concerned.

Have you contacted the drum supplier, surely that is a design issue? At least they could advise you. Glad you found it in time mate.

One of the reasons i didnt buy a drum mate. Could i go on holiday with peace of mind no. Chose a nexus 220 instead little to go wrong 👍🐟
To be honest Ric I know nothing about nexus. A lot of drum owners would disagree with your comment. To be fair you should never go on holiday without having someone look after your koi. Probably better not to start the my Nexus is better than your drum argument... Haha... :)

What drum do you have out of interest?
Hi Paul. I had an AEM Easy Drum and had a lot of bother with it and replaced several parts under warranty. Just got to the point that I didn't trust it any more and I've just bought an Oase Proficlear compact to replace it.
Where did you get the glass wall on top off the pond buddy?
I got all of my glass from TuffX.

Yeah. I think that we've all had at least one nightmare as koi keepers! It's part of the hobby..!

Hi mate, it sounds like your drum cleaning cycle is to long, which would account for all the water loss.

Thanks Mark. That's what I think too. However it sometimes does this which is very annoying . Also difficult to fix because it's not doing it all of the time!
