  • I wasn't happy with the amount of air agitation on the 200mm diameter UpFilter so I added a 15mm pipe for air line agitation to see if that would agitate the K+ media better.

I fancy having a go at making one of these filters and you have made some excellent videos on it. Have you a link info sizes etc to the device you have used to get air into the filter, I think it may be called a bulkhead?
Also in a previous vid someone asked how much media you used and you said a 1/3 of the volume. Is that likely to be a 25l bag or 50l.
Thanks again for great ideas and videos

Hi Gary. Thanks for the kind words. The fitting that puts air into the Up-Filter is a JG Pipe fitting. I got mine from Toolstation. Before fitting it warm the tube so that it adapts to the form of the fitting.

Not sure on the amount of media. If you can use it elsewhere then get 50l otherwise start with 25l and add more if you think it needs it.

Not totally sure what you mean Richard? The 15mm bulkhead was fitted to the acrylic tube by drilling a suitable sized hole. The back of the inside part of the bulkhead had a little 'lip' on it to stop the 15mm pipe going straight through. I just filed down this 'lip' and the 15mm pipe pushed straight through.

Hi, got mine up and running on Sunday, got to say can't see too much rubbish travelling up the tube, and media still looks clean, can't wait to clean it, that will be the test, I decided to go 15 mm speedfit route for the airline, didn't have the nerve to drill the acrylic tube, went through rigid 110mm- 2" adapter instead lol 😁, out of interest, how many lts per hour are you pumping through it?

Hi Marek. I'm putting around 5000 l/h through the 200mm tube. I think that you will find it has trapped a lot of fines.

@@northernkoikeeper512 I put video out last week showing it in situ, and gave you a shout out, but not quite running, I still need to connect airline to one way valve, then she'll be ready for 1st clean after 5 days.
