hahaha... there is a Chinese quarter. I once told a guy in TJ that he was Chinese he said 我是墨西哥人(I am a Mexian,) But he couldn't even speak SPANISH! The Taiwanese came during the Chinese takeover of Taiwan. in the 70's. Mexico opened the border to them. Later, many Chinese followed as some Taiwanese returned to the island. The Casa Ley supermarket chain in Mexico is owned and operated by a Chinese Mexican Family (since 1948). Lots of history. Best of all, many just blend into the society.
You are correct about the Ley Supermarket. I discussed with people in Culiacán, Sinaloa about that. I didn't know about the flow of Taiwanese migrants. Thank you Victor!
@@keithc8108It's definitely cheaper but not dirt cheap. If you stick to basics, a lunch special of chicken and rice could be $4-5 USD. If you go fancy it can easily become similar to US pricing, about 20-25% less than the Chinese food in the US.
@@chuey1988 prior to COVID it was cheap. But they featured Mexican samples in the Chinese food like jalapenos, radishes, and Chile probably to cater to Mexican customers. For like three, four bucks you could get quantity like they give you at panda or where you can't properly close the container
