I have been to China and one thing that bothers me about going out on the street like this is the cigarette smoke. I read somewhere that 75% of Chinese men smoke and there are very few restrictions on smoking in public. I didn't go to such narrow alleyways but I'm sure it's even a worse problem there.

Yeah, there is no restriction on smoking if you are on streets, but most indoor places smoking is prohibited. That's same as most countries. It's also true there are many people smoking in China. But 75%? Where did you read that? I don't know how you could say that if you have truly been to China.
@@bearpolo3618 - I haven’t been there in about 15 years. The first time I went was 1990 and I said at the time that I thought that 80% of the men smoked but I thought I was exaggerating. After I returned, I saw a documentary and that’s where I got the 75% figure. Maybe things have changed in the last 30 years but, at that time, people were smoking in shops, restaurants, and movie theaters. Even in America at that time, you could smoke in bars and the common areas of shopping malls.

I'm intrigued by the whole subject of DNA and how it determines the unique physical features from culture to culture. The legs of Asian females have a consistency in shape that is unique to women across Asia. The knees are nowhere near as pronounced as in other cultures. The whole of the leg just has a smooth topology that is "Asian" :) Other examples...... there is a distinctive timbre to the voice of people of African heritage, completely separate from such clues as dialect. This is also true of Asian cultures....... with no dialect at all you can often hear clues in vocal timbre that reveal one's Asian heritage. There are physical traits so common across the hundreds of indigenous tribes across South America....... I could keep going but too much beauty here :)
