I'm using Handshake for a career fair tomorrow. It will be 10 minute sessions with each employer. When both parties join for a 1:1, should I speak first and introduce myself first or wait until the employer speaks? Let me know if you have any tips! :)

Apologies on the delay! Hopefully the career fair went well and you were able to prepare with a career coach at UMKC! For anyone wondering the same -
This will be a fairly natural conversation between you and the recruiter. You really just have to feel it out! Of course coming in with excitement, saying hi and introducing yourself in regard to your name and maybe saying thank you for the opportunity to sit down with them would be ideal. After they introduce themselves, you'll usually get prompted with a question along the lines of "So, tell me about yourself..." and this will then allow you to dig into your career fair/elevator pitch! After that, its just a conversation where they will ask questions about you and you will ask them questions about the organization and opportunities.
Feel free to reach out to careerservices@umkc.edu for any help moving forward!

@@UMKCCareerChannel Thank you! It went well and the 1:1 was very similar to what you explained. I have another coming up this Fall so this should help!
