Luigi wins a mansion in a contest and his brother, Mario, goes missing there. It is your goal to search the haunted mansion to figure out where he is. Your weapons to protect you are a flashlight and the Poltergust 3000, a ghost vacuum. Capturing ghosts and collecting keys helps you progress in your quest to find Mario.
The author, Malleoz ( tasvideos.org/... ), forgoes out-of-bounds glitches that are present in this movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) and plays through the game in a regular way in record time.
The author also provides an alternate encode with commentary which can be viewed here ( • (TAS) Luigi's Mansion ... ).

This run plays the Hidden Mansion, a mode unlocked after beating the game once that increases the power of the Poltergust and allows skipping some cutscenes, to make the run more entertaining.

i would hope so. collecting money if it's not a "100% run" is a waste of time.
100% in this game is defined as the best mansion and both the perfect diamonds might be required too.

This is the first time I realized the ghosts hum along with Luigi when the room is dark. I guess I was too scared to notice as a kid.
I love how he avoids Luigi's "scare" animation. Very clever! I love this game to death! :)

I remember my Prima Strategy Guide said specifically that you really had to work at it to NOT collect enough money to get at least the tier 3 mansion at the end. This TAS managed to collect *no money whatsoever*...

I noticed that in this TAS, they didn't just ignore the pearls, they specifically avoided them. They ended with exactly zero pearls. I'm assuming this helps somehow with the speed of the run.

You can run emulators at a higher resolution than the original console. With 3D games, this results in sharper texture quality since it doesn't need to do as much aliasing. Essentially what you're seeing is the texture as if the camera was much closer to it.
Does that make sense?

Why does the intro music for Bogmire and bowser sound screwed up? and why was the music missing in the Boolossus intro?.
+Jeremy Knight Going with what tcrf.net/Luigi%27s_Mansion/Regional_Differences#Japanese-Exclusive_Differences tells me, they're basically issues in the Japanese release of the game, which was (obviously) used here. There are also other differences that are noted there.
+fsvgm777 Thanks for the link. Apparently the JP version was rushed in order for it to come out alongside the Gamecube. which is strange because there's only a 2 month gap between the JP and American versions.

I was thinking about the logistics of a no money tas but then I realized it would basically be this but you just avoid the first 7 coins entierly rather than having Chauncy hit them out of you.

Is it just me or is the music (and Luigi's humming) faster in the Japanese version during the "Dark Rooms" sections?
I'm not sure about that Maybe but it does look like the ghost get sucked up way faster than the American version

this person is really good but i think he put in a minor cheat ( to suck things up faster) And you can tell its the orignal cause the portrait in king boos room is not pixlated enough
When you beat the game you unlock Hidden Mansion mode, which allows you to suck things up faster and skip some cutscenes.
He’s also running and emulator so it has higher quality

I haven't played this game. What's with the toads crying?
Well for example the toads are just babies I mean one of them in the bathroom was crying because he flushed the key down a toilet. I don't know why they made the Toads cry like this but they do.
But you should try to play this game it is fun but I would recommend the pal version of the game. The Hidden Mansion is actually different than it is in the Japanese version and the American version. At least what I've seen and heard.
No you can also play the 3DS version in the Hidden Mansion is also completely different there too but the controls are a little bit awkward they try to make you use motion controls you can turn them off by switching them but honestly I feel like they should have added them at all even if you can turn them off and the Hidden Mansion in that version of the game they don't flip the Mansion around so it's just a harder version what's the power version where they add more Ghosts and More HP but they don't do a lot of anything else. But it's still fun to you can play two player and use amiibos

そう、それ。オバケのビジュアル自体はこの時から割とコミカルだけど、リアルで物々しいマンションの雰囲気とかBGMとかあって凄い不気味だった
