    -No sword phial hits included in calculation
    -All Axe hits assume Charged Shield
    -All Axe hits assume phial hits
    -Assume all axe phial hits normal (not overcharged)
    -Exception: SAED only includes initial hit and not phial hits for same reasons as Power Axe Mode below
    -All Shield Thrust hits assume Charged Shield
    -Power Axe Mode (Savage Axe extremely hard to test in current beta conditions - will be done next patch)
    -Assume 60 frames per second
    Don't underestimate CES's low damage value - the follow-up phial ticks from charged sword more than make up for its lack of DPS and greatly boosts all DPS of sword and shield combos (as much as 50% more dmg at low weapon base values)

    There are way more variables to the Charge Blade right now. Overcharged phials vs normal phials, ED1 and ED2 with Savage Axe continuous ticks of damage vs Normal hits with Savage Axe vs Normal hits without Savage Axe, AED and AED follow up with and without the continuous ticks of damage, Perfect Guard vs Guardpoint, etc. It'll be fun to take an in depth look at the damage values once we have access to an actual training area.
    I'm just gonna say, I absolutely LOVE Wilds' CB. My favourite style of Charge Blade in GU was Valor and it's so awesome to see the axe now has an even more satisfying infinite loop than what we had before. I loved activating Focus Mode and doing AED -> AED Followup > ED1 and ED2 -> repeat, all the while aiming at Rey Dau's head and holding circle to activate the saw. It's a much more involved combo than just doing the upwards swing loop from Iceborne and the Ready Stance loop from Sunbreak.
    To be quite honest, I never actually liked the SAED spam style of Charge Blade, but I do not want to see it completely gone for the sake of those out there that liked a more counter centric playstyle for the weapon. Hopefully the team at Capcom will give us skills to boost the followup attack to a Perfect Guard/Guardpoint and skills to make it so that overcharging our phials is easier. The only thing I will ever mourn from Sunbreak's Charge Blade is the Delayed Firing Pin, everything else can stay in that game.

      I totally forgot about the overcharged phials to see if it affected the damage of charged sword phials. I did a fresh playthrough when I picked up Iceborne earlier this year and only used charged sword, it was pretty fun. I think the first thing I'll do with Wilds is an elemental charged sword run (especially now that I can carry 2 different elements at the same time), impact is great and all but you build so few sets for it. Savage axe and the AED loops look like they're going to be pretty crazy this time around but I really like the mobility and safety of sword mode.

      I really miss SAED spam because the counter style gameplay is what made me fall in love with CB in the first place. That being said I really enjoye Wilds CB. I just wish there was a way to balance both styles of gameplay

    It's interesting how low the dps a lot of the axe combo's actually are with the exception of ED1 ED2. I couldn't do a whole lot of proper testing because I was running at 15-20fps with constant stutters and inputs being eaten (8 year old pc, 9800x3d in the mail), but it felt like they added more recovery time to the end of the shield thrust? It felt a lot slower to get into another attack after a shield thrust compared to how it is in World where you can spam weak slash, shield thrust pretty quickly.

      I noticed this too especially when i tried to use charge double slash after shield trust where i was pressing the button too quickly after shield trust so it was not inputting in game which led to my PC not doing anything. Maybe this was just latency issues/lag though.

      I also felt the slower recovery on shield thrust. Idk why no one ever mentions it (maybe it’s just not good to do) but when your sword is charged and your phials are overcharged, since you can’t bounce while sword is charged the hits of your sword feel like they have less hitlag especially charged rising slash. Also maybe the axe dps is lowered to compensate for all the new buffs you get in savage axe

    Thanks for the DPS showcase and analysis. Just shows that to maximize your resource gen/phial efficiency its always optimal to consume them via ED1-ED2 as to not overcap your phials. Im wondering though if its better to overcharge phials before consuming them via ED/AED? I noticed in speedrunners Rey Dau runs that they almost never overcharge phials but use them immediately via the ED combos once they have atleast 5 phials.

      this is a pretty easy question
      if the value of 1 phial is more dmg efficient spent as non-overcharged - do this.
      If the value of 1 phial is more dmg efficient spent as overcharged - do this instead.
      If for one apple, you get 50 birds or if for 2 apples, you get 101 birds, you transact as 2 apples.
      If for one apple you get 51 birds, or if for 2 apples you get 100 birds, you transact as 1 apple.
      The whole concept of overcharging phials is to prevent over-capping (waste of charge)

      @@naota909 im trying to wrap my head around this answer abit. I apologize for the stupid follow up question. The Over Charged phials give a damage increase do they not? I understand the notion of having a new phial cap in order to better manage phial waste management, however, if the over charged phials also increase the dmg of the phials doesnt it make spending them in that state possibly better depending on the moves?
      I ask mainly due to my own testing and interests in Wilds Charge blade. The changes to the weapon make SAED spam less of an option. I was curious if (AED spam) AED1>AED2>Shield thrust>AED1>AED2 etc, this including overcharge phials with axe ticks as well, would be viable in terms of dmg output. Im not a huge fan of savage axe mode solely for the weapon, but a new playstyle with AED being something close to the numbers of that sounds fun and promising.
      Based on your previous answer, my smoll brain cant seem to understand if youre basically saying overcharge isnt worth using it to buff the phials and just a new cap to manage rather.

    is it by design choice for the numbers to be so low expecially compared to dual blades?
    like yeah charge blade has a shield to block while dual blades doesn't but in world i used to have the same dps while using both weapons

      The DPS is way higher once you include the extra ticks from Savage Axe.

      So far it seems like you’re stuck using savage axe if you want damage output. Looking at team darkside’s video on speedrunning Rey Dau, power axe is the way to go for dps.

    Hey! What do you mean when you measure time with amount of frames? I know in fighting games this is the case, since game locked at 60 fps and engine updates data 60 times per second, but in MH its not the case. Can you explain pls? Thx for the video!

      @naota909 cause framerate isn't locked, and we dont even know how the engine updates some data within itself. So, every user has a different framerate, and measuring time with frames makes no sense since it is not universal value between players.
      I can't apply your framedata to myself. For example, if i count frames in real time, like you did, i suppose, my frame count will be different
      It works with fightings cause there's locked universal framerate - 60, and engine specifically programmed to update some data in sync with framerate

      By engine data i mean active hurtboxes, hitboxes, stunlock, hitlock, recovert, startup etc
