- HI FOLKS, THIS TIME WE HAVE A CUSTOM RESTORATION OF A SOLIDO CITROEN 2CV6 WHICH WAS VERY KINDLY DONATED TO MY CHANNEL BY MR FRASER MARTIN, SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT, I DO HOPE YOU LIKE THIS ONE, MEANT AS A BIT OF FUN.

Thanks for the compliment, Nick! Most welcome to the old European models - they came from a batch I had ages ago but now no longer have a place for in my collection. Bonkers colour scheme but 100% approved, and it certainly does look happier than it was when I packed it! I think the rust came from being in a damp box in the coalshed! I thought it was only me had problems with number plates: I am glad I am not alone!
Thank you Fraser, glad you approve 😊👍 it is a bit colourful lol, but I did enjoy doing it, looking at it done though I realize I should have paid more attention to the canvas (plastic) roof and trimmed the edges with a craft knife, only saw those bits when I was looking at my outdoor shots when I was putting the video together 🤦🏻♂ Lol those number plates have a mind of their own, especially when the camera is rolling🤔🤦🏻♂😁 Take care, all the best, Nick🐸🐸

Lovely job on a classic 2CV. And yes not many around, though I do see one everyday in summer locally. Blinkers prices now for the real thing too

That is something a bit different Nick and it's turned out great. I hope you have more Solido models to restore, it's fantastic, just like the real thing, your detailing is superb. Great decision to do the flower power theme. When I'm going to mask part of a model I tend to use etching primer for that particular casting. I think it adheres to the bare metal better than regular primer, but I'm certainly no expert and there are much more knowledgeable modellers on here than me who will know how to overcome the problem. Thank you Peter, yes I often use etching primer too it has some kind of acid in it which eats into the metal a bit making it stick better, I need to do a paint run on my way home from work lol, I need to restock on a few colours and lacquer etc 🤦🏻♂🤨 I think most of us get this problem every now and again though, it just seems that on some models the paint will stick better than on others for some reason. ☹🤦🏻♂ I do have more Solido models to do so there will be some in future videos👍😊

Hi Nick a nice one this week the colours go together really well. I think the tab inside might be where they held it for painting i've seen on some old vids where they spin the castings as they go through the spraying. All the best from Ian b & family.

Great video Nick i know what you mean about doing masking up i try to avoid it but some vehicles look good in multi colour . Sometimes Martin gets a good results we will have to find out the secret lol . The colour on the 2CV was fantastic an as for the stickers they were really good.

How long to let paint dry before using masking tape. Good question i like to leave it about a week myself. But that’s just me personally

Thank you David, something a little bit different lol, the number plates seem to have a mind of their own 🤦🏻♂they go everywhere but where you want them to go 🤔🤨🤣 I do wonder if the amount of time one leaves the paint before masking does make a difference as to whether or not the paint will lift when removing the tape, or is it just that the paint sticks better to some models and not others 🤔🤔

Always used to have that problem until I used etch primer. Never looked back since. It adheres to the casting & everything else stays down too. There's a brand called Upol. Presents tins in 500mtl for about £7 online
I do sometimes use etch primer but I didn’t have any at the time, I can’t buy paint online because they won’t send it to Jersey, I can get it at the local supplier though so I must get some, keep a couple of cans on my rack👍😊🐸🐸
