    Having your new team with you for a week has to be an eye opener for them. Hands on learning is great, and having them say they are going to be so much better than they were is exactly what you were striving for. Only the best couples are going to be Blue Ox endorsed. Thanks for posting this informative video.

    I own a Grand Design Transcend XLS 200MK. Last April I took the factory tour of the Transcend production floor. Tour guide remarked several times about their strict unit pdi before it left the building. Well, here is what I saw. Starting with the Lippert frame, less than desirable weld beads on critical areas. Same goes with the spring shackles. No wonder they twist off. When stapling the flooring around the edge of the decking half the staples are protruding 1/4 inch above the floor. Imagine, the outer wall framing is going to mount on top of these protruding staples. Further down the line the pre fabricated lumber used to build the front bulkhead consists of a top and bottom that on some units fit good and some units were very subpar. Send it down the line. There were about 20 people on the tour. I kept noticing construction flaws in the outer walls as the tour progressed. I noticed a couple of times the guide looking over at me as I was looking things over closely. Send it down the line. As the line comes to the end and the vapor barrier and aluminum siding was attached my thoughts were, at the end of the assembly line you can pdi what is available to pdi. All of the construction flaws hidden between the interior walls and outside siding will not be fixed before leaving the plant. Nor will they be found by the dealer. The tour was a real eye opener for me. No wonder the first time I opened the a.c. vent above the bed with the a.c. running I got my eyes filled with saw dust. So the long of my post ends with this. If all rv manufactures are as haphazard in their construction as I witnessed in Grand Design, I'm not sure I will be in the market for any more.

    Love Frenchy's Maintenance Tips!!
    This stow n' go would be a deal-breaker for me (including the lame caulking, electrical wiring, cabinet latch issue - lack of attention to detail in the build).

    Hi guys. Great to see you do an inspection in my area. I am very familiar with this particular dealership. I didn't realize that you did this area, I would have contacted you guys when I had purchased my new Alliance at a nearby dealership. Sorry to say we missed the chance to chat with you guys at the content creators corner at Hershey. However I believe that you caught us on video at the corner which later got put into ERV's video "RV Winners And Losers Of 2023 -- Who Is Coming Out On Top?". Keep doing what you do. Next time we won't pass up on a chance to chat with Blue Ox!

    😺Beautiful boxes on wheels, but where is the pride in the job of building them? You would think that every manufacturer would have their own “Laurel and Pierre” at the end of the line, and keeping everyone upstream tuned up! 🐿

    • @blueoxontherun9188
      @blueoxontherun9188  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's no accountability. No rewards other than the volume of units moved...just like salespeople 🙂
      Why would there be any proudness, there's no incentive.
      People still buy them without seeking Pierre and Laurel's inspection...why would they care 🤔

    Yes, our independent inspection on our Momentum 395 ms-r was 100 pages long. So tired of the lack of quality despite their customer service being outstanding. Here is the thing though as we spoke about here in Hershey. It is all of the RV manufacturers. They all do this.
    If we get another rig one day, we are going to have you guys inspect it for us. I do believe our inspection was outstanding though. -Pete

    Great video guys. If the dealers would PDI the units when they arrive a lot of this could be avoided. They dont because sales charges service to do the PDI. This is insane and as you have found, could allow for a unit to sit with water damage for months, causing decking to need to be replaced. If the had PDI'ed they might have found the issue and fixed it before damage. Manufactures do need better quality control, but dealers are the ones really screwing people. Every dealer should have a qualified inspector on staff checking these units. Its warranty work so it cost nothing for the dealer to repair. Simple fact is dealers would rather save the PDI money and pass on a crap build to a customer to find the issues and take months to fix them.

  • @WILDEBILL308
    @WILDEBILL308 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The absolute lack of quality control is amazing. Like the electrical issues. I would consider that to be a safety item and should have at least one more set of eyes, maybe 2 and a written buy off record. Example the worker should have to sine off /stamp off he did the work. His supervisor should inspect it and sign it off then a shop inspector who can't be intimidated by shop supervisor should look at it and buy it off. They are stupid because it cost 3 times as much to do the warranty re work as to do it right the first time.

    • @WILDEBILL308
      @WILDEBILL308 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but when the dealer does the work he passes the cost back to the manufacture. The warrantee system is much deferent than in the car business. @@blueoxontherun9188

    I like the idea that all these things would be repaired before driving off but I have real trouble imagining that is even possible. Does a typical dealership have an electrician with available time? Plummer? Wood worker with skills? I once went to camping world to have a screen door replaced on a Winnebago Travato van and I was treated to 3 guys looking at the job and clearly having no idea how to do it. And getting replacement parts, I couldn't even get a return phone call. BUT THE MOTIVATION OF NOT GETTING PAID MAY BE JUST THE MAGIC ANSWER! Do the dealers really jump to it after getting the repair list?

    We have an RV dealership about an hour from us that we went to look for used trailers at about a year ago. EVERY RV: Crocked Slides, gaps in slides , filthy, chunks of wallpaper missing, nasty mattresses, broken light fixtures, missing appliances. I stayed for an hour looking as it became an amazingly amusing game of looking at all the blunders. Will I buy there? No.

      I really don't have a favorite brand on 5th wheel, or any other type as well. For me, it's a box, making sure everyone was on it the day of the build is key!
      Sorry it didn't help, I get it. Yet the most important part is always the floor plan fir me! 🤙

    Always disappointed to see shoddy workmanship. Yes, it is all fixable, but should a new 5th wheel need to be fixed when it comes direct from the factory? If the dealer did a PDI, I would demand a refund.......how does a broken shower head or shoddy sealant application get passed?
