This is actually useful. A bigger focus on stock tactics and evolution into fully spaded tactics would be welcome but this information is something I can work with. Too many CC's assume that u know what they are talking about all the time. GG

May I add that R23T has a lot more range from side aspect SPECIALLY when you use that IRST and lock onto the enemy. I was able to lock and track R23T from 5 sometimes 6 km away using IRST.

Newbies and just plain bone stock jets all on the same team does make for a pretty miserable experience. Also, the MF is now my highest ranked jet. I do ok in lower BR jets, but my first jump into the very top tier was eye-opening. But getting it as a reward or getting it by grinding the tree, this was inevitable!
Excellent video! I haven't even gotten into MiG-23s yet since grinding with the MiG-21bis is just painful now, but good to know more about the plane's strengths and weaknesses for when fighting them.
So about wing sweeps. My strat is to treat them the same way you treat flaps - leave it in Auto until you get slow. On takeoff I switch to manual and set it to full forward before going back to auto. Then in the match, if I get into a dogfight, I can use the wing sweep like you would with flaps. Toggling it to manual gives full sweep for low speed turns. Hitting it again puts me back to auto when exiting the dogfight. Also, if you want to use flaps for landing, its handy to force them forward then since auto can sometimes be derpy about it and block your flaps from opening. With the wings all the way out these planes are excellent in the rate fight. Due to their energy retention they can keep speed at full pull (~6-7g at 650kph) almost indefinitely and can hold there own against basically everything except the f5. The M and MF have the problem of low flare count though, so I would avoid getting too stuck in with them if you can avoid it, at least until the game gets down to just a couple of enemies.
I can more or less consistently get 5km+ headon locks with the rest using the irst slaving. I love the Ts way more due to the sneak attacks. I rarely ever use my radar in my 23mf Also one small advice try leading the missiles aswell as turning off afterburner when dropping flares. Specially American missiles, from my experience flying f4 and f5, I can say that many kills of mine could've been avoided by turning it off for a second.

Stock grind for MiG-21SMT is even worse IMO. Because with the other MiGs, you at least get R-13Ms and R-60s earlier in the modification tree whereas on SMT, you have the shitty R3Rs to go through and the R-60s are a last rank mod.
What's the best missile load out on a premium mig23ml? The radar lock before missile lock is really frustrating I do prefer having IR missiles but they're not effective unless I'm behind opponents and they track badly. What should I do?

its not the crew skill points my issue, the problem is that i can't afford to buy the plane X2,5 times do to the stupid mechanic that the expert training costs the same as the plane! That's just way too much to my SL balance!

Are the MiG 23s out running the up engined F-4s and late F-104s or just out IR missile-ing them? I’ll have to do some more digging through my library but as I recall, depending on altitude and pursuer, neither the 23 nor the 27 has that ability if carrying any stores or even empty rails/racks. I know Gaijin’s matchmaker “logic” trumps reality, but in the video some of the kills were F-86s and the like. That’s just cruelty to animals making the poor old Sabre face a supersonic plane with six R-60s and countermeasures in Air RB. It’s on par with having Hueys fighting Ka 50/52s in Helo games.
My question is why isnt the Mig-27 historically accurate.. when shooting its GSh-6-30... it would destroy its internal electronics to disintegrating the plane.

You know it's bad when a tutorial video comes out for the event plane a couple of days right after people got it.
I made it partially because I'm tired of losing when I get stuck on an MF team.

I have forgotten about the bis due to its stock grind and repair cost lol, even though its my favorite
