Stealth Camping on a Tiny Island · Sleeping in my Canoe!

  • If I was really trying to be stealthy, the last place I would camp is on a tiny island with little to no cover... but that was exactly what made this trip exciting and challenging! This was a great test of my bugout bag and sleeping in my canoe was a first for me. I caught some fish and got to enjoy a pretty spectacular night under the stars! Thanks for joining me on this one! - Clint

When watching your video I couldn't help but have flashbacks of time with the military during training at the NTC (Ft. Irwin, CA). Everyday just after dusk, we would relocate our unit to reduce the likelihood of being attacked at night. The enemy forces would attempt to visually locate your unit during daylight and then attack during the night (if you remained at that location). If you moved a short distance (2-3K m) the enemy could hear you moving but it was very difficult for them to locate you after dark (we were an armored unit, so it was impossible to move without being heard). As long as you maintained good light and noise discipline after relocating, your chances of being located was substantially reduced.
Hadn't thought about that for years 😉

Great video! It’s hard to beat nighttime catfishing in the summer. It must have been a little weird waking up on the water 😂

I really like the camping on the tiny island and I understand why you brought the MRE type food just in case, but the fact that you caught fish and that wasn't your meal makes no sense to me. I think your goal should have been to catch dinner and then eat the MRE only if you didn't.

@@davidsgreatadventures I was just fishing for fun on this trip, but I get what you’re saying. I’ll try to plan a trip in the future where I cook what I catch because I think it’s a great idea. I appreciate you watching & commenting!

Hate to say it, when I hear "stealth camping" I think of someone who doesn't have a home to go to and doesn't want to be hassled.
