Im a bit iffy about asian airlines since Malaysia airlines lost 2 planes in a couple months.
@@ladytyphon7261 then fly singapore air. apart from a hijacking incident (which was totally out of their control) on the tarmac several decades ago, they did NOT loose any of their planes before. it is relatively safe and if you go above economy, their service is top notch.

The prepared food looked pretty good (prosciutto and smoked salmon = surprisingly fancy!) but I was shocked by the big ol Snickers bar! I’ve never gotten name brand candy on a flight before haha

How comfortable were the headphones, and were they active noise canceling? I’m flying with them in two weeks and wondering if I can leave my noise cancelling headphones at home.

They aren't active noise cancelling. Take your headphones with you for sure.
there are no noise cancelling headphones on any airline as far as I know.
I'm a Japanese person who loves China Airlines. I use it often. We use Taoyuan Airport transit to destinations such as the United States, Canada, France, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

I always fly China Airlines from Ontario, California to Bangkok Thailand. The service is good, food is good too
When I am on a long flight like this, I call the airline early and order a special meal... like low carb or something. I get served first. Then, if I am still hungry, I ask the flight attendant if I can have a regular meal (if I am still hungry)... and 99% of the time, it's no problem. I usually give my flight attendant a Toblerone chocolate bar at the beginning of the flight... never hurts! Love me some TJ... thanks, gril!!

Food and Footprints Late night is the only way to go. Arriving in Asia during the AM vs. a daytime flight where you arrive in the evening feels like you miss out on a day or a waste of a day IMO. Plus, the airport isn’t as crowded as during the day and TSA lines aren’t crazy. ( I highly recommend TSA Pre-check if you fly often. It’s worth the money if your airport has it)

I would have gone with the Asian chicken main meal option...
You can get to Business Class easier if you have a loyalty membership... (chance is higher of upgrade)
Either stick to one airline or airline group (skyteam for China Airlines, Delta, Air France KLM, etc.)
FYI: Eva Air is Star Alliance (Singapore, Lufthansa, Swiss, United, ANA, Thai, etc.)

The pasta surprised me! I haven't flown international since I was three years old, and I don't remember much of it. The last time I flew, which was two years ago, I got served snacks, sice the flight was domestic. I flew from Denver to Los Angeles, and from Los Angeles to Denver.

EVA for sure is better. i work for the airlines. i haven't flown China Airlines for like 30 years and 5 years ago i flew back to taiwan. i stepped one foot into the plane and thought to myself, "this is why i haven't flown China Airline for 30 years". never again. EVA all the way! trust me bro. china airlines average 1 crash per year. attendants are bitchy with lots of attitude and less attractive. EVA has younger more in shape attendants. their planes are newer and cleaner and better looking on the interior.

Those seats tho- that’s why we fly China airlines all the time and in premium economy - lean back and not in anyone’s space

I got the slippers too. I was on the back of the plane it was 73 Both planes.
The only thing I didn't like was the irritating light on the side of the seat otherwise everything else was spot on. BTW girl eat up your veggies, it's good for you!

People who've flown on both China Airlines and EVA Air's premium economy class say the seat on CAL is less comfortable bc it's a shell design where the seat back doesn't really incline back, rather it's a swoosh up and down design within the shell.
But from a traveler's perspective, the person sitting directly behind will Thank you when your seat back is not in his lap.
So, at the expense of a little comfort, I prefer the shell design on China Airlines.
