    It is like I am on the same flight, all over again! Last January, I transferred from Vancouver, BC, to Taipei, to transfer to Jakarta. I have to say I would of also given Air China five stars. Even from Taipei to Jakarta was the best!
    Also, worth noting, thank you again to all, from Taipei International Airport, to make sure I got onto that flight to Jakarta. The reason why I nearly missed it was because my first time ever, on my own, to fly from these Asian countries. I've already been to The Philippines, and South Korea, but with someone.
    Interesting that now the face masks are not mandatory, like they were with that you had to show proof of being vaccinated, all last year still.
    I cannot wait to travel back to those countries again ❤😊

    I was just in Bali, Indonesia about a month ago (Feb 2024) and one of the planes I took to get there was China Airlines. Had to go from San Francisco to Taiwan. It was one of the BEST flights I took, though it was long (as expected).

    Thanks for the review! I’ll be flying CA towards the end of November, LAX to Chiangmai through Taiwan. Last year, I flew EVA Air the same route, so it will be interesting comparing the two carriers economy flights. I’m flying by myself, and with EVA, i waited until check in at 48 hours before departure to get aisle seat without paying ing for it. I’ll see what happens this time. One of the side affects of a cancer treating drug that I take is that everything tastes bland or bad, so I’ll hope for the best for dinner and take the geeks for breakfast. I’ll take my Bose headphones and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. I’m more tired from the cancer drugs, so I hope that means that I get a few hours sleep. If I don’t, I have a house in Chiangmai, so I can crash immediately. I’m sure that as long as I don’t get a middle seat, I’ll be a happy camper.

    🧐Since "China Airlines (CI)", a Taipei-based Taiwanese airline, is abbreviated to "China Air" in the video (not commonly used), this may lead to confusion with "Air China (CA)", a Beijing-based mainland Chinese airline.
    The two are totally different in terms of flight service, in-flight entertainment, food, interior design, etc. China Airlines is way better than Air China from my experience and many YT flight reports. Just in case ppl will get confused.

    Awesome Video! Was there a reason why you had to go to the ticket counter for China Airlines? I'm flying Delta into SFO and connecting to this same flight to Taipei, and I was going to load up my carry on because I figured there's no way they should know (Bags will be checked from Delta all the way to TPE and Delta says they will give me a boarding pass all the way to TPE). Did they not give you a boarding pass for the China Airlines flight when you checked in for your Alaska flight? Just trying to figure out why, don't want to screw myself with overloading my carry on if somehow we're forced to check in for some reason at the China Airlines counter there in SFO. Thanks for the help!

    • @TheTripReporter
      @TheTripReporter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I didn't get a boarding pass from Alaska. I also was not able to check in online since the trip was under one reservation with multiple airlines, it's common for that to happen. I went SEA-LAX-ICN-CEB on Delta and Korean and I had to go to the Korean Air counter too.

    • @_w_w_
      @_w_w_ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      China Airlines do not take Delta's boarding pass and vice versa. I fly both airlines every week. I don't know why that both airlines' ground staff tell passengers wrong information - the one one airline prints is not accepted by the other. Whether it's SFO, LAX, ICN, HND, you have to get your boarding pass reissued at these connecting cities.

      @_w_w_ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@walterwlim You are right, they added a 3rd flight at the beginning of 2023. It's mostly used for connecting traffic. China Airlines is pretty bad, so most people rather fly EVA, hence they can do 2 or 3 flights a day.

    • @_w_w_
      @_w_w_ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@walterwlim By the way, CI reduced SFO from 10 to 7 flights weekly. I am on the A350 flight frequently, it's so empty that I can't see it sustaining most of the year. The increase is only for 2 or 3 during the height of summer vacation. They also added a flight a week during winter holidays. China Airlines fare is consistently the highest out of SFO, even topping the new Starlux. Their service is only a hair above United, so of course it's not sustainable.

      @@johnjolly2087 ONT or LAX, that's a choice of convenience. As far as seat is concerned, Taiwanese love their seat and bed hard. Taiwanese also get a ton of influence from Japan, which also love their seat and bed hard. The Premium Econ seat itself isn't bad but the seat back and seat padding are horrendous, very very hard. Most of the padding are at the left and right, and your spine is literally pressed against cloth wrapped hard plastic with no padding. For regional flights, they even give away the premium econ seat to frequent flyers for free. I would decline that upgrade if I have a decent economy seat. The economy seat's padding is slightly better. Out of LA area, you don't have a lot of choices for Taiwan. I personally fly into Japan or Korea, then connect, so my China Airline segment is under 3 hours.
