#knitting #knittingpodcast #2022rewind
I started knitting in August…your accomplishments blow me away. You have many talents rolled up here. Your knitting, story telling and TH-cam skills all take time and patience to build. I’m excited that we can find so much in crafting. Thank you!🌸💗🌸
The way your comment just made me tear up right now!!! 🥲 Like most people I always sell myself short and have never considered any of the things you just SO KINDLY TOOK THE TIME TO TYPE OUT. You are so sweet to share this with me, thank you so much 🥺
You knit so much in your first year! And you pick colors that suit you so well. Last year was also my first year knitting and I completed 0 projects. 🥲 I find knitting so much harder than crocheting.
Knitting seemed confusing at first to me too but started on scarfs then moved to another easy project when comfortable enough to move to another easy project. Most knitters have several unfinished projects on needles. 😊 If you have a local yarn shop they can help with good starter patterns . Keep practice knitting , many people who can crochet are wonderful knitters too.
Thank you! Knitting and crocheting definitely have their own pros and cons, but the number of hours I spent studying knitting techniques really helped me understand the stitches and construction. It's not an easy hobby but it is definitely worth the effort!
People can be more or less gifted in certain areas of crafting...to make this level of items in your first year of knitting, well, you must be so damned proud 🥰
Thank you so much Joanne! I definitely caught the knitting fever 😄
I am amazed by your accomplishments. Don' stop, you're a winner
You got me when you said you became brave in the spring with your knitting and by spring you had already made so many things that I was already thinking to myself how amazing it was that you had tackled so many knitting projects as a newbie! I’m new…I’m not brave and I’ve knit through a spring already 🤪 I love all of your things🤗
LOL. It's just that I was timidly approaching them before and by spring, I came across any pattern and was like I'VE GOT THIS! Hahaha. So your "brave knitting" era might still be around the corner 😊
I love your enthusiasm! Your joy from knitting feels very genuine and that helps inspire me, as a mom who tries to squeeze knitting in where she can. ☺️ I look forward to following you in future!
Hello, nice to meat you, I started knitting in June 2020, when I was seven! My nan teached me knit stitch moss stitch and pearl stitch . Your work has been amazing , keep up the good work, have a good of rest of your day, goodbye❤
This is the first video of your channel that I'm watching.
I LOVE the fact that you are celebrating your progresses. It really inspires me. Also, I've discovered so many beautiful yarns that I'm going to look up. Love your tastes, can't wait to see all that you're going to do in 2023.
Thank you so much for watching! I find knitting TH-cam so inspirational as well so that means a lot to hear ❤
Great video. I enjoyed seeing your knitting progression. You have a good sense of what you like and what will work for you. I’m super impressed by the number of socks you knit.
Thank you, Heather! I'm definitely trying to knit my dream wardrobe so that's great feedback
My goal for this year is learning to knit! Which I have started! And honestly because of you, I wanted to get into knitting. I have been a crocheter for the last year and have been watching your videos for a few months and fell in love with all that you have made
That is AWESOME! I am so grateful to be able to enjoy both crafts, they really do each have pros and cons. I hope you enjoy the start of your knitting journey ❤
OMG! So impressed with all you’ve accomplished the first year. I learned to knit as a child and am now a grandmother. I still feel like a beginner. I have vowed to increase my skills this year. I may take a sock class this spring. I want to learn color work and lace. You’re inspirational! Keep up the good work. 😊
Thank you so much for sharing! A class would be an awesome way to level up-I took a mini colorwork class in the fall and it was so inspiring!
Your first pair of socks does NOT looks like a first pair, wow! The stitches are so even, really well done! 🤍 I can relate to the shedding tears and feeling pride part of the sock-knitting experience :')
Thank you so much! I think there’s something to the tiny needles that make tension a little easier 😅
So inspiring as a beginner knitter loving my new hobbies / obsession
I truly feel the same about having knitting & this community in my life! Your creativity and progress are so inspiring to me and I loved your 2022 round up, I'll have to cast on my own Festival Sweater soon too, and I'm seriously so impressed with all of your sock gift knitting!
You are so sweet! I CANNOT wait to see your Festival Sweater when you cast that on
You have a great eye for color. What an inspirational and impressive year! Looking forward to following your knits moving forward ☺Cheers, and thanks for sharing!
Beautiful collection. You're a true inspiration!
Wow, well done to you. I really love your taste and your colors :) I enjoy listening to you too, you have lovely prosody and a clear mind which makes for very enjoyable videos. You have inspired me to dive in and get knitting again :)
Not me tearing up at your intro 🥹 you have progressed SO far in just one year 🎉🎉 I really love your color choices throughout
OMG thank you Allison! The way I’m fangirling rn 🙈 I love your content so much!
@@truelaneknits omg you’re too nice! I watched your yarn shopping trip video months ago, I’m so glad you popped back up in my recommended videos because I’ve got a lot to catch up on since then!
I just started knitting but you are an inspiration! So accomplished so soon!
This is amazing. I am glad I found you. Literally just started knitting and love it. I want to make a sweater as my first project. Hopefully it turns out decent lol.
Thank you so much! YOU CAN DO IT! The Novice Sweater is a great starter pattern! It might help to knit a hat first to learn knitting in the round techniques if you run into any trouble, but you got this!
You are legend.. I am impressed with your work..I crocheting last 3 years ..been tying to knit since end of last year but just can't make it ..please do share your journey..very inspired and hope to see more of your beautiful work..xx
Thank you so much! Crocheting is a wonderful skill too, I love to do both.
Wow I've been knitting since I was around 13 I'm now 51 and I can't knit socks! You amaze me!
You are so talented your knits look amazing. You got so much done wow. Glad I found you love watching your videos❤
Thank you so much Mira!
Lots of beautiful knits! Well done and so much learned. An idea to add length on your little white tee without trauma would be to add an inch or two of crocheted lace or something to the bottom since you also crochet. It would be so easy and very unique. Welcome to the world of knitting!
Thank you so much!
Brava! Such a great year of accomplishments and an exciting new obsession. I feel the same about knitting (and spinning and weaving and all things fiber). Love your positivity and seeing your incredible progress. :)
Thank you Mary Beth! Obsession is definitely the word for it 😆 but it's a worthy obsession for sure!
your date night sweater is beautifullll omg I know it looks amazing in the sunlight 😻
omg the maple beanie was my first ever knit project! Mine was green 😆
it was so nice seeing all of the projects you knitted and the progression from the first project to the most recent 😆
Thank youuu! Ah I didn't realize you had the same first knit project
I love the green socks 💚💚💚
You influenced me so hard onto Olivia and Oliver fibers!! I shopped their recent update ❤
YES I love to hear it! The Warm Neutrals collection is SOOOOO beautiful.
Just found your channel and I am loving your content ❤ I also started up knitting at the beginning of January 2022 after learning the basics as a kid, so I find everything so relatable!
Thank you so much Christiana! So exciting that you started knitting again too, and all the TH-cam content knitters are putting out now makes it even more fun!
Lovely knits. Thanks for the video.
Girl you are fearless! I started knitting in 2012 and I spent years knitting only shawls, cowls, and hats. I did my first sweater last year and have been cranking them out since.
I knew I wanted to knit garments right from the start, so I definitely dove in headfirst! It helps that I find sweaters so enjoyable to knit 😍
Amazing for your first year of knits. So excited for you! Will definitely be watching what you’re up to. It took me awhile to read my knitting and learn front leg/back leg but now I pick up with confidence! 🎉 love all the delicate speckles
Thank you! Speckles are what make me most excited to knit 😅
I've been knitting for a year now too and I couldn't agree more with what you said about it being exactly what you needed when you didn't know what was missing! Lots of beautiful knits!! For 2023 I def wanna up the technique and complexity on my projects, and more socks too haha
Same here! Let's level up in 2023! Lol
I just love how much you love your knits!! Thank you for inspiring me to knit the "date night Jumper" I've been knitting on a fingering+mohair jumper "the Library sweater" and Im really looking forward to using bigger wool and kneedles! That said, I will love wearing my library sweater when I finish it! I really enjoyed this podcast it was informative and fun and great company to knit a long with :)
Your projects are so cute 🎉 well done! I remember being this excited when I started too ❤ much love!
Just saw the cover for your plant pot amazing
🤣 It’s one of my favorite things I’ve crocheted. It fits that plant so well.
What a beautiful collection of knits for the year! This was my first time watching one of your videos, but I had such a beginner knitting journey! When I was fifteen I knit a small square swatch, then I cast on a hat, a pair of socks and a sweater! I love the sweater you’re wearing in the video ❤
Thank you Julia!
I started knitting at the same time as you and I’ve been following since your first knitting podcast or so, and I absolutely LOVE everything you make! It’s all so dreamy and beautiful 🥹 But I really don’t get how people get so many pieces done in just one year, I didn’t even make half as you and I was knitting all the time 🥲
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! Well, I didn't work last year so I was knitting about eight hours a day 😆 anyway it's not about the rush, it's about the enjoyment of the process!
Super easy when you're talking about your accomplishments but I know how much effort patience and love it takes. You're too sweet and hard-working at a time, I feel like following your exemple. Thanks for your video.
P.S. Would be different from other knitting videos if garments were viewed longer on the screen and not only talked about from diffrrent angles, put on plastic models heads, or you'd try them on camera. Thanks
Your new sweater turned out so well! Beautiful :D
I’m currently knitting a green hat with Woolia yarn -loving the color but not sure how it would look on me. Then I see you knitted a beanie in emerald- I swear it’s the same green!
All your knits are beautiful & seem to suit you.
Somewhere I heard that a good knitter is a good frogger/tink-er. So go ahead and “fix” anything you would like to fit better. Consider it good knitting.
Also, I love that you love all your knits. 🧶
That is a great sentiment and just the push I need to make the changes! Thank you so much for your comment, and I love ALL shades of green...your hat will look fabulous!
Hey, same here! Started 2022 and this is all I do right now :D
LOVE TO HEAR IT 👏
I really like all of your items,, I have very similar taste regarding colours and patterns :D I love this blushy, pinky tones, I love Olivia&Oliver fibers (which I found thanks to you
Thank you so much! I am so glad to be sharing the Olivia & Oliver Fibers love!
Wow so glad I found you 💕 you are such an achieving inspiring knitter 👍🏻👍🏻 love from Kuwait
Thank you!
Hey, with the alpaca yarn, try wool in the gang alpaca there alpaca it doesn’t have guard hairs in it which is what is making the alpaca itchy drops alpaca has guard hairs. That’s why it’s itchy.
Ooooh good to know, I’ll have to look into that! I just got Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca that feels a lot softer, so maybe that’s the thing with that one too. Thanks!
Wow you knitted so many items in the first year!! I am just on my second year of knitting and I don't think I have knitted 30 items yet. I love your items knitted with beautiful yarn. Love your honesty in mistakes and the first time trying. Now I have tried most of the famous skills and stitches, except for the fisherman's rib that you tried fearlessly at the beginning! The one you are wearing now is so pretty and fits you really well!! :)
Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words! As long as you are enjoying the craft, that's what matters 😊
Seeing your Manhattan Hat was super inspiring! That's definitely on my list of projects this year - I've got a couple skeins of worsted and aran weight yarn that need to be used up, and that seems like the best way to do so! So glad I stumbled on your video :)
It's SUCH a great pattern! I highly recommend. Thanks for watching!
Would be great to see you wearing your knits(except the socks obviously)
I didn’t think of that until after I filmed! I’m going to try to post more finished objects on Instagram too, but I’ll try to remember to do that for future videos!
Chelsea I know how you feel! Also can't think of what I did all day before I started knitting :) And I absolutely loooove your sweater! I'm excited about the projects you will complete in 2023 🎀
Thank you so much Jill!
You should try 9"circular needles SOOO much easier than DPNs, check out a few TH-cam videos, or use needles stops on the ends of your DPNs, adds another couple steps per round but saves a lot of frustrations and fixes, worth the extra steps.
I find it too fiddly to use the 9" circulars on the heel flaps! I use DPNs just on the heel flap and the small circulars for the rest of the sock.
I am amazed by amount of stuff you have knitted last year. Can you share with us how much time do you spend knitting a day? Thanks
I wasn’t working last year so anywhere between 2-8 hours a day!
For your first, or even 5th year knitting this is incredible!!! I’m pretty sure I just did scarfs and hats for the first year 😅
Thank you! I definitely dove in headfirst 😂
Hi I am new to your channel! I recently learned how to knit socks with the Crazy Sock Lady’s Vanilla Sock pattern too. But I did mine on magic loop.
Thank you for watching! I can do the Vanilla Sock pattern in my sleep at this point 😂 I use Magic Loop for the toe but I can' t live without my 9-inch circulars!
Wow! What an impressing first year! Just from your first project to your second we can see how good you got :) I think your first hat looks really even although what may look like laddering to you may be due to the fact you were twisting your stitch at that moment. It creates more room between the stitches and makes it not stand straight
Thank you so much! I KNOW I literally can't believe I didn't know I was twisting my stitches, but I didn't know any better back then and never considered it again! 😂
Oh my goodness! I learned basic knitting years ago, but never did much with it. I felt the urge to try s-o-m-e t-h-i-n-g, so signed up for a KAL on Japanese charting and a butterfly shawl. I also started a rather wide scarf just to get my knitting groove going...it's mindless and I can work on it without having to count or think. I plan to learn two-at-a-time magic loop toe up socks next and a summer tee after that...but I'm not sure I have the time for much more.
Wow, kudos to you! That's a lot of techniques and projects! Love that you're going after it 💪
You should totally do the edit to the anchor tee. I followed Natalie’s recommendation for one of my projects and it is WAY LESS daunting than you think it will be. It’s great Kitchener tensioning practice too (;
Good point! It shouldn't take me more than a day either, so now I just need to get it on the schedule!
Lovely video you accomplished a lot. My favorite make of 2022 is probably my novice cardigan by Petiteknit
Thank you! And a cardigan is DEFINITELY on my list in 2023!
Just found your channel. Love your knits. You have inspired me to try the vanilla socks again by Crazy Sock Lady. I had knit one sock but it was way too big because i used a 2.5mm needle. I bought a 2.25mm and will try again and also add patterning in it like you did. I look forward to future videos. 😊
2.25mm is definitely my ideal sock needle. Thank you so much for the kind words! I hope you love your Vanilla Socks!
Your voice really sounds so therapeutic to me! I feel like I could listen to you all day while knitting along :) your festival sweater is my favorite. Iˋm currently waiting for my order from Olivia&Oliver fibers to make one myself (my main color will be apple blossom) So excited!!!!
Haha thank you! OMG a Festival Sweater in Apple Blossom will be SO BEAUTIFUL! What are you using for a contrast color?!
The contrast color will be sweet pea, also from Olivia & Oliver fibres :) I hope those two will look good together!
@@valentinaliesegang3883 OMG. That will be so pretty!
How dare you post a video when I'm still at work I'll watch it later but I'm super excited!
Lol, hope you enjoy!
What a great list of knits for your first year!
Have you tried reblocking your sweater no 1. And scrunching it up as it dries?
Thanks! No, I haven't needed to wash it again, but that's definitely the plan when I do!
i loved this video! my favourite knit of 2022 was the ingrid sweater and the pattern i'm most excited to make this year is the eclair raglan by laura of penrose knits!
Ooo, the Eclair sweater looks so dreamy! I love that she names her designs after desserts 😆
Omg. I was literally thinking the same thing the other day!! What was I even doing with my time before knitting or crocheting?! 😄
😂 It’s wild how much time I devote to it now! 😍
This was such a fun video to watch! I really enjoyed seeing all your knits and the progress you made throughout the year. I started knitting last summer and my favorite make might be my September sweater by petite knit, which is also my first sweater ever. I'm very close to finishing, finally, hahah. (you can see it in my podcast if you're interested)
Thank you so much! I can't believe you attempted brioche for your first sweater, talk about fearless! That will be a perfect staple in your closet
@@truelaneknits hahah I like a challenge I guess 😉 and it definitely will be, I can't wait to wear it!
Your first sweater decision was such a good one! The first sweater I ever knit was a CARDIGAN with cables, all the pieces knit flat and seamed. Also, I thought it was a great decision to knit it in superwash wool? Thinking of it makes me laugh out loud - literally. I still have it, and I still wear it but it's a mess. One sleeve is tighter than the other, but people are still surprised when I say I made it so, it must look ok!
Well you get points for ambition anyway, LOL! I love the imperfections of hand knit items, to be honest!
Thank you for your video. You’re inspiring. I also live in Washington State. From where do you purchase DROPS yarn products? Thank you. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you so much! I ordered the DROPS from Wool Warehouse in the UK.
You should show pictures of you wearing your items.
I thought about it but totally forgot! Maybe next year! Haha
i ust started knitting like 2 yrs ag but just started knitting sweaters likke 6 months ago i woring oon my 3rd sweater right now and i had a couple fail that were way to big lol but i wear 2x so my sweaters take forever lol plus i always have likke 10 projects going at once but i love all your projects great job
Multiple WIPs are the curse of the knitting addict 🤣 way to go!
Great first year knitting! How much do you wear your Sophie scarfs?
I wore one of them one day around the house, LOL. So not out in public yet. I'm in the process of figuring out how to style them...!
Beautiful knits! Since you like pretty sweaters, look at Fairy Bouquet by Joanna Ang. All her sweaters are yummy.
WOW that is a gorgeous pattern, thanks for sharing! I love the name of it too. Adding to my favorites 🤭
Hey, what would you do to fix a dropped mohair? Facing the same problem rn😅
If it’s too far down, I’d just pull it to the back! Otherwise I’d just drop the stitch down and do the fix. There are lots of tutorials on it!
What is the pattern of the sweater you are wearing? I don't know if you mentioned that one. It is beautiful!
Date Night sweater by Caidree. I did but I should add it to the description…! Thanks for asking!
@@truelaneknits It is beautiful!
Try overdying the camisole.
OMG I would never--the yarn I used is probably in my top three colorways of all time. I would much rather reknit the last couple of inches than change the color!
How much money was the olivia and olivers fibers sweater in the colour eggnog?
Her current prices are on her website! I think they were about €24 per skein.
Your knitting is wonderful, not uncommon in the world of knitting to have to fix stitches in finished projects.
Any idea how impressive this is? I’m wow’ed!!!!
Wow, THANK YOU! ❤
I have noticed that MFTK designs are prone to stretching out. I guess it's because too thin yarn is worked on too big needles. Also silk itself is just a champion of stretching...
Hi! I just want to say how much I love your videos! I love to just sit and knit and watch them. I also want to thank you for helping me discover Longdog! When you started talking about her LOTR collection I was so stoked. I was sad because I only caught the end of the collection but once she opened up preorders for the whole collection I jumped on that so quick!! I can’t wait to get the mini set of variegated yarn!
OMG that is wonderful to hear! The LOTR colorways are like, my everything right now 😅 Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate it! ❤
just a heads up - you twisted all of your knit stitches in the beanie you made.
hi! i don’t know if you did it intentionally or if it is part of the pattern, but on the orange beanie, your knit stitches are all twisted instead of stockinette stitch 😬 just something i noticed and might be helpful to point out! 😊
LOL, I have literally never noticed that 🤣 I wonder how I stopped doing that if I never even knew I was doing it?! Thank goodness it didn't stick 😅
It looks like the first beanie you knit is all twisted stitches. is that right?
Yes 😆🤦🏼♀️ this was back when I knit continental-never even crossed my mind until someone else pointed it out to me. Oh well!
You live and you learn 🥰
