Welcome back to another Gears of War Lore video! In this video I'm going to be explaining the Gears of War Kantus! In this video I talk about the Gears of War Locust Kantus and it's variations; from the Gears of War Savage Kantus, Gears of War Zealot, Gears of War Deviant Kantus, Gears of War Armored Kantus.

My favorite Kantus is the Savage Kantus since they look cool and I like their outfits. I would of loved to see them in the Gears 3 Campaign, but I believe they were never added and were just multiplayer.

Kantus: RAHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hearing that Kantus scream in the beginning unlocked so many memories of playing Horde mode with my friends in Gears 2 back in high school
Back when Gears 2 came out, I stumbled across a Gears forum where you could talk about the Gears of War universe. There was a section where people could talk about the origin of the Locust, and there were some pretty interesting threads. This one I remember basically said how the Kantus were actually the OG Locust and were an ancient civilization that had built Mt. Kadar and whatnot. I forgot how New Hope fit into it, but it was a pretty interesting read. If you think about it, why do the Locust look so different than other drones..? Very thought provoking I think.

I think the canon explanation for the locust origins is the least interesting tbh, them being an ancient race that was always just below the surface was what I always thought
@@asddsdsssdI don't mind the children being locust. But if kantus are also part of the children, it really makes the locust lore make much less sense considering an entire city had been built underground, and kantus being able to see through the future and having their own civilization with the hollow creatures would make much more sense.
I recently saw a video that stated that the Kantus are ancient denizens of the hollows. idk the lore too well but this would make the most sense, considering religion takes centuries to establish. Why they would accept queen myyrah and the horde is a different question.

Probably Skorge, but I DID like the Armored Kantus. In hindsight, I'm surprised the Armored Kantus wasn't Skorge's disciples or bodyguards or something. Or the Zealot.

I shed a tear off the nostalgia cutscene loved gears 2 soo much ben died to early in the campaign and it's just dom aswell like why did they kill him in gears 3 like why, i want another mission like OPERATION hollow storm in gears 6 like it was such a fun mission seeing new locust and the lore is just fantastic i hope there is kantus survivors instead off scions giving the healing ability like just no we want a screamer and gives me the old gears off war feeling :(:. Great video ABZ loving the content
Gears 2 campaign is so good! & yeah when making this lore video it reminded me how much depth there was to the Kantus, the Locust religion itself and so much more.

The armored kantus are my absolute favorite locust. Littlerally the only reason I played gears of war 4 multiplayer was because you could play as them.

Gears 3 savage kantus was legendary but ngl gears 4 armored kantus was nice asf
One thing that confused me about them, if they are completely different from the drones, how the hell do they reproduce with the berserkers without having a drone child.

Good question! Honestly i don’t know the answer to that and I’m hoping Gears can expand on that in the next game.
It’s never been explored and a missed opportunity for sure.

I would also say TC missed their mark to create a Swarm version of the Kantus in Gears 5 since it is their 2nd installment in the Gears universe and I think they should of not spent the resources on redesigning the Swarm characters and rather make their own healer/support Swarm trooper.

What are your thoughts about a “scion like Kantus” assuming they went through this miracle Metamorphosis an TC keeping them alive?
I hope that’s the case. Hoping the Kantus survived in some way but I’m also hoping they create new creative enemy types like they did with the Warden & snatcher.
Well TC removed the scion healing ability in gears 5 so I thought the kantus had a chance to return and was kinda disappointed when they didn’t lol. Maybe it’s a sign of them coming to gears 6 though idk.
