My absolute favorite core memory from GOW 3 Horde was when a friend of mine did what I thought was impossible - headshot a Beserker with a Torque Bow. I'm sure many of y'all remember the Horde 2.0 trailer with a song by Aaron Griffin aka Ice T where there's the line "... headshot a berserker with a torque bow!". In my mind it remains so unbelievably rare to have that tiny bit of damage when an enemy gets stuck with a torque bow bolt be enough to kill a berserker. The model's head didn't explode or anything from what I can remember, but the classic headshot sound played and the kill log listed a headshot for the beserker. Absolute insanity, and I wish we could go back to the Horde 2.0 era. I'm not holding my breath for GOW E-Day, I'm too pessimistic at this point after seeing Halo, Mass Effect, Fallout, Battlefield, COD, and other franchises from my childhood good into the gutter in tetms of quality. But hey, we'll wait and see.
I have been playing Gears 3 lately. Been finding full pvp/ horde/ and occasionally beast mode lobbies. Would be awesome to see others come back and get these lobbies booming like the good ole days. Hopefully see some of you on there sometime
@@MildCrisp I've been currently doing that for Gears Ultimate Edition. Would be absolutely sick though to have full lobbies for some of the other game modes on Gears 3. It only seems like TDM, KOTH, and Guardian are the only active modes for PVP. Not that I'm complaining lol. Those are favorite modes anyways

The idea of a good cooperative game mode has always appealed to me more than versus. Don't get me wrong, PvP has its own flavor to it that mostly involves a serious amount of profanity, but there's something about having to rely on others to make sure you survive that's just most interesting. In both board games and video games, I've always preferred this. Horde was what really brought it home for me and it sucks for me to see it losing that and moving towards the hero analogy you used

Imo GOW3 is one of the perfect video game ever created, the campaign is so epic and it concludes very well this godly trilogy. The multiplayer was good and ahead of its time with the customizations. I mean GOW3 itself was really ahead of its time when we compare it to AAA releaes these days and the fact that we still talk about it in 2023 it says it all. Even for today it has so much content and easter eggs. You have 357 subs and in only 3 months your GOW3 video made 35k views. Its safe to say that Gears Of War 3 is the goat. Horde mode died when they made you pick up the money. This killed strategy and punished sniping. Gears devs have failed for just not copying and pasting this for every entry.
Gears 3 was so gritty and savage in the best way gears could be. Beats mode was so sick and the enemies peaked. The story had a fitting end. And it was a good way to end the series. I dislike the fact they kept it going it made all the sacrifices that have been made from the characters pointless. They just brought them back like they didn’t just wipe every single one of the locust horde out. The newest gears games are cool but they just are not the same. In my opinion!
How much better 4.0 would be if they added every enemy in the gears franchise. Like, among the practical ones, all of them. Imagine a water/boat map (gears3) where you can fight the leviathan as a map boss in gow 5. I would love to see classic locust like the kantus and wild tickers in 4.0 along with the swarm

Horde/Beast mode was in Judgement and it was so cool. I personally wouldn't want a beast mode in gears 4 or 5 because the enemies are so lame and all blend into one another. As Jack you can hijack the enemies and none of them control like they'd be fun to play, I'm sure if they could make em fun if they tried but that would require effort and talent
Im so glad other people recognize how badass and fun Gears 3 horde was. Gears 3 in general is a blast. I remember me and my lil bro playing split screen versus with bots (no internet ) for literally hours on end playing every mode. TDM, King of the Hill, Wingman, etc leveling up and grinding for Onyx badges and unlocking new characters. One of the very few games that allowed normal progression even when playing offline, and we fucking loved it. The campaign especially in Arcade mode co-op was fucking amazing, horde, versus, even Beast mode was fire and we were having too much fun with every other mode to even realize the Beast mode was a thing, then once we discovered it the game became that much more badass. So much content. All of it an absolute blast to play for hours on end. Gears 3 is a masterpiece if not one of the greatest games of all time. Its so sad dude that games are just not like that anymore, I’ll never experience being a kid and playing gears again as much as I yearn for modern day studios to publishers to put forth the effort into releasing finished, fun games that are made with love and passion; it’s just not gonna happen. We’ve entered an utterly shit era of gaming and little did I know that I was in the golden age of video games with my Xbox 360 and my disc copies of Gears 3 and Halo Reach…. Fuck man. I'm a horde main. i actually only played pvp once or twice in gears of war 5. Horde mode is the backbone of geara of war, it has to work for the game to feel like a gears successor
you should play gow 3 on a xbox one x or series s/x because on these machine gow 3 runs at a crisp 4k 30 fps or 1440p 60 fps, no aliasing, better view distances, better textures etx. its legit like a little free remaster and i think gow 2 had the same enhanced treatement.

I remember when Gears 3 first came out. My brother and I each had our own Xbox's and we grinded horde. Our mom would come in with snacks and checkup on us every hour lol. Good times. Will never forget the memories from the Gears franchise.
Can we all just agree that as much as you might dislike Horde 4.0 compared to 2.0, it had one feature that was a huge improvement, the custom lobbies that allowed players to join late. No longer would one person quiting ruin a run. And the host could kick trolls too, which did a lot to ensure good behavior and sportsmanship.
Oh man this takes me back i cant believe how many features i actually forgot and this was my favourite game for years and years my most played game ever by far. That vulcan was so cool gears 3 really encouraged team play more than any other game. I want to play this again wish people still played this game definitely needs a remaster I'd love to revisit this game,
I have been playing Gears of War 3 lately and have been finding full lobbies for horde and pvp. It surprisingly still has a good amount of active players. It would be absolutely beautiful if a lot of people were to redownload this game and get the servers booming again like the good ole days
I love all the cool little details in Gears 3 horde. Stuff like the Lambent and Locust fighting each other even though the really didn't need to put that in horde mode, if you don't attack berserkers they take a while before attacking you because they barely see (at least it was like that for me), the boss and enemy variety compared to Gears 5. I never liked the Gears 5 horde, this one will always be the best imo!
GoW 3 was just an amazing game. The campaign was fantastic with grand finales for two very important characters, both narratively and for the players themselves. (Which by the way, those two scenes still mess me up to this day) The multiplayer too, I remember grinding for WEEKS to get max level in versus with over 5m+ xp on top of that, grinding out the golden hunter and chairman Prescott characters too. Beast and horde mode were also legendary I remember spending countless hours playing with friends with the fun mutators selected, and getting one tapped by melee attacks. Running around after saving up for the berserker, demolishing everything in sight. I’ve got so many good memories from my time spent playing this series, but this game was extra special.
I was playing gears 3 horde the other day on my replay of the game. And gears 3 is honestly the best gears to me. Although I prefer tdm and capture on gears 5 better
I remember this one match we were on bullet marsh all my teammates are dead and I’m the only one fighting off a lambent berserker, with a lot of running and curling I managed to kill that she beast abomination and the sensation of success I felt can and will never be topped.
One time I my team had died except for me and one other person so we opened a box and got a lucky Vulcan. We still lost but it was fun while it lasted!
Man, I'm sure I'm one of many who maxed out everything but the silverback. That was so unbelievably expensive - although my buddies at the time had an agreement that only one person should purchase and repair it to max out the card so at least one person in our group had it.
i've really enjoyed 3.0. The biggest issue was that we fight against bot and swarm. A return to a "better" 3.0 close to 2.0 with Locust on E-day would be perfect
Great video! I've played every gears of war and personally loved the simplicity of Horde in Gears 2. We played it for years. Gears 3 for me added too much to a simple formula but can see in retrospect all the additions were necessary to keep the game fresh. 😁👍🏻
one thing i will say is you use the controll pad' i can allways tell when it's a mouse/keyboard player very jerky , gear one to 3 anything after that was rubbish ..............

It's locked behind a dlc but I wouldnt say they're worth it, on most maps all they have is a Gnasher lmao

Since you cant get hammer strikes or mortars on checkout it replaces mortar with grenades and the hammer with onyx guards
It’s not terrible but it’s by far the worst of all the horde modes, only Judgement’s garbage ass survival was worse than Gears 3 horde.
How is it worse than in 2 where you don't even get anything related to having a base or an outpost to set up? 2 had really good maps and in pvp too

I remember when Gears 3 first came out. My brother and I each had our own Xbox's and we grinded horde. Our mom would come in with snacks and checkup on us every hour lol. Good times. Will never forget the memories from the Gears franchise.
Horse mode 2.0 was quite something, shame that nobody really plays it anymore.
I play mostly horse 4.0 mostly since people still play it.

Can we all just agree that as much as you might dislike Horde 4.0 compared to 2.0, it had one feature that was a huge improvement, the custom lobbies that allowed players to join late. No longer would one person quiting ruin a run.
And the host could kick trolls too, which did a lot to ensure good behavior and sportsmanship.
That's actually a really cool feature, I usually skip right by it
kicking is a double edged sword though. Sometimes you make one misstep like placing a gun on a weapon locker and you're gone.

Gears 3 was the only game I ever played online. Man, I had some fun back in the day with Hord mode. Good times that I miss a lot.

Oh man this takes me back i cant believe how many features i actually forgot and this was my favourite game for years and years my most played game ever by far. That vulcan was so cool gears 3 really encouraged team play more than any other game.
I want to play this again wish people still played this game definitely needs a remaster I'd love to revisit this game,
I have been playing Gears of War 3 lately and have been finding full lobbies for horde and pvp. It surprisingly still has a good amount of active players. It would be absolutely beautiful if a lot of people were to redownload this game and get the servers booming again like the good ole days

I love all the cool little details in Gears 3 horde. Stuff like the Lambent and Locust fighting each other even though the really didn't need to put that in horde mode, if you don't attack berserkers they take a while before attacking you because they barely see (at least it was like that for me), the boss and enemy variety compared to Gears 5. I never liked the Gears 5 horde, this one will always be the best imo!
GoW 3 was just an amazing game. The campaign was fantastic with grand finales for two very important characters, both narratively and for the players themselves.
(Which by the way, those two scenes still mess me up to this day)
The multiplayer too, I remember grinding for WEEKS to get max level in versus with over 5m+ xp on top of that, grinding out the golden hunter and chairman Prescott characters too.
Beast and horde mode were also legendary I remember spending countless hours playing with friends with the fun mutators selected, and getting one tapped by melee attacks. Running around after saving up for the berserker, demolishing everything in sight.
I’ve got so many good memories from my time spent playing this series, but this game was extra special.
Whenever my day is going too good I watch those scenes :(
I was playing gears 3 horde the other day on my replay of the game. And gears 3 is honestly the best gears to me. Although I prefer tdm and capture on gears 5 better
I remember this one match we were on bullet marsh all my teammates are dead and I’m the only one fighting off a lambent berserker, with a lot of running and curling I managed to kill that she beast abomination and the sensation of success I felt can and will never be topped.
One time I my team had died except for me and one other person so we opened a box and got a lucky Vulcan. We still lost but it was fun while it lasted!

Man, I'm sure I'm one of many who maxed out everything but the silverback. That was so unbelievably expensive - although my buddies at the time had an agreement that only one person should purchase and repair it to max out the card so at least one person in our group had it.

At one point Im just lazy picking up the cash, tho as engineer building defense focus, its kinda annoying.
i've really enjoyed 3.0. The biggest issue was that we fight against bot and swarm. A return to a "better" 3.0 close to 2.0 with Locust on E-day would be perfect
I think gears 5 horde is the best, Classes just add so much replayability and give you a reason to try new loadouts.
2.0 is THE KING of CO-OP even now.
Gears 3 is more interesing than GOW 4,5. TBH. But no PC version tho thats the thing.
Great video! I've played every gears of war and personally loved the simplicity of Horde in Gears 2. We played it for years. Gears 3 for me added too much to a simple formula but can see in retrospect all the additions were necessary to keep the game fresh. 😁👍🏻
one thing i will say is you use the controll pad' i can allways tell when it's a mouse/keyboard player very jerky , gear one to 3 anything after that was rubbish ..............

Beast mode is still the best mode imo, period. Lots of games have horde modes. Only one game ever had beast mode.
Gears 4 had the best horde mode. I loved 3 but the class system and playing as a scout? That was it for me
