These are examples of great watches FC puts out. They make affordable automatic watches. The founders started the company with that mandate. For less than $1000 this outprices the equivalent looking watches by Omega, Longines, or Baum et Mercier.

Great looking watch. Only nitpick, would have loved an exhibition case back. Even without much finishing would be nice to see with an entry level dress watch like this. Adding the white to my shortlist of next watch purchases to go along with my BB58 black as a more formal option.

I have their Slimline dress watch and absolutely love the look of their Slimline moon phase, but at 42mm, it’s just too big for a dress watch. Love the look of their Worldtimer too! Great brand and very overlooked unfortunately.

I like these kinds of simple elegant dress watches. I could see this watch in my collection at this price. One thing I wonder about Frederique Constant dials: Why do they leave out the accent grave in "Geneve"? Without that accent mark over the second "e", the city name looks (is) misspelled.

I think it could be a daily wear. The Swiss are really giving Seiko a run for their money right now in the affordable mechanical category. Seiko really has to come up with something other than the 6r15 at the 1 grand USD price point.

Great video, thank you. I bought one for my dad in April and unfortunately he has noticed that the watch is regularly missing 2 to 3 minutes per day. Even with manual charging, despite being automatic, the watch is missing a few minutes per day and he stopped wearing it altogether. Hopefully with the guarantee it will be sorted, but curious to hear if anyone had the same experience. Cheers and keep up the good work!

For some of us with ham-hocks for wrists, the 40mm is a nice fit. Although I do agree, there should be more 36mm options out there, seem to have gone the way-side after the 80's.

Very simple, yet elegant. Was looking at them on Amazon. They get less than stellar reviews. A multitude of people have had reliability issues it appears. Weird having a Japanese company owning a Swiss brand. I guess it could be worse. Really all the Swatch group brands equal this: Tissot, Certrina and Mido. I’d probably go with the three aforementioned before I would the Citizen owned brand. Solely based on spotty reviews I’ve seen is deciding factor.

FREDERIQUE CONSTANT CALIBER FC-303 The Frederique Constant caliber FC-303 (sometimes written FC303) is a Swiss made automatic movement with 26 jewels. It is essentially a Sellita caliber SW200-1 (ETA 2824-2 clone) with “Frederique Constant” engraved on the rotor.
Just like the ETA caliber 2824-2, there are four grades of the SW200-1 movement:
Standard - adjusted in two positions; accuracy of +/-12 sec/day up to +/- 30 sec/day
Special (Elabore) - adjusted in three positions; accuracy of +/-7 sec/day up to +/- 20 sec/day
Premium (Top) - adjusted in five positions; accuracy of +/-4 sec/day up to +/- 15 sec/day

Been thinking the same matter for a few days and i can't decide. But i'm thinking about Baroncelli Heritage. Not the big date. I think big date's just so elegant but boring, believe me you'll get bored after second wear of it. So in comparison these two, Mido(small date at 3) has more heritage, thinner, has better movement with the decoration. But in terms of design elements i don't like the stepcase of mido and the dots on the outer circle of the dial. But F.C. more refined and elegant but has a modest sellita based FC-303.
Long story short i think ''for the specs Mido'' and ''for the design F.C.''
      But i just can't decide...

I have the fc-303mc3p5. It has black hands on a machined silver (and white? - unless that’s a machining effect) dial with Roman numerals. But the minute and hour hands have a circle near the ends - which mimic the style of many Breguet watches. I think Breguet also has blue hands on several of their models and Frederique Constant is imitating that. . . . Breguet’s Le Reveil du Tsar had been my aspirational dream watch for many years. I know that I will never be able to afford it, so my Frederique Constant is my “poor man’s” equivalent. It’s a nice dress watch to break out for church, formal occasions, and holidays.

I wouldn’t call it a dress watch, but it looks like a decent everyday watch. This style of watch shouldn’t be more than 38-39mm though. 40mm is too large imo, and there are way too many 42mm watches in this style.

I discovered this one by firing up the website of the prestigious jewelry retailer known as _Costco,_ setting the filters to show me mechanical watches sorted low-price-first, and scrolled until I saw the first Swiss automatic that wasn't actually a Swatch wearing the skin of a dead watchmaker- That watch was a Fredrique Constant Classics Automatic.
This is the watch I recommended to coworkers or randos who see my slowly-disintegrating vintage Swiss bus-catcher and ask me to recommend them a "watch that's just a watch and isn't any kind of style of watch but like... just what a watch is supposed to look like, I guess? You know, like from the before-times?"
    Additional requirements often include:
"It can't be a quartz. I know it's all Chinese crap sold at different prices, they can't fool me"
"I don't want a Rolex because a TikToker(?) said they're a ripoff and you know, I can't afford one anyway. *I want something that'll give me my money's worth."*
"yeah it's gotta be Swiss, they make the good stuff right?"
"Fifteen hundred bucks? (every time, a pained expression, adjustment of posture, and an audible exhale) Don't they have anything... you know, cheaper?"
FC Classics Auto: It checks the boxes. For people who basically get ripped off on everything in life but food and drugs until they die, but at least know it.
