    This or that? Tissot PRX or Frederique Constant Highlife COSC? Or perhaps the Maurice LaCroix Aikon? I recognize that this is very subjective. We all value differences to varying degrees. Having the discussion is helpful. I hope you enjoy the video Stephen.

      In my opinion, humble as it is , the Tissot and the Frederique Constant aren't even in the same ballpark . The FC every time . BTW Bruce , I was at an estate sale where I found a couple of extremely nice , collectable watches . I bought 3 , but the highlight was an original Tornek-Rayville 900, in absolutely beautiful condition. Definitely for my permanent collection. Just had to tell ya as I'm still floating in the clouds over my good fortune . Great video as always. And hey , always good seeing "the hair" !!!! It's you !!!

    I have the FC Highlife. The blue is very intense under summer sunlight, in a satisfying way. And indeed, I also noticed the AR coating works really good - one of the best on my watches. Both, bracelet and rubber strap are comfortably to wear. I also found it found an even better discount then mentioned in the video, so I guess searching is worth while, as for most watches.
    I do not have yet have experience with the Tissot PRX, perhaps the new ice-blue automatic though, hm...

    If you're unsure do what I did and get the PRX quartz and the Highlife. I think I have the best of both worlds in many ways: PRX quartz is more durable and accurate (of course. Highlife has the two straps and does look better than the PRX models IMO, the quality of the finishing is definitely better. I got the PRX quartz new from a dealer for 308 euro and the Highlife was used, worn a few times from ebay for 1200 euro. Both watches will depreciate a lot and be bargains second hand.

    The Tissot watch in the video is hiting at same spot beside markers. In my experience, the seconds hand can be adjusted in most 3 hand quartz Tissot watches by twisting the movement and the plastic retainer. There should be few degrees of wiggle room.

    For that integrated bracelet aesthetic, I'd pick a Tudor Royal over these two. It doesn't cost much more than the FC but carries more brand cachet and value retention when I inevitably move on as tastes and experiences change. The Tudor is more divisive in styling but I think it's more interesting and characterful. I also do like the juxtaposition of that brutish edginess and dressy elegance.

The globe pattern looks quite strange on a non-worldtimer watch. It also doesn’t add to the originality of its design taking into consideration Patek Philippe Aquanaut. A well as ugly curved lugs resembling Omega Constellation.

If this is all you can afford then maybe stretch for the FC, but for someone who just wants an integrated look to add to their collection for fun, Id go with the Tissot Powermatic 80 variant at 600 bucks. You dont get any more cache from a FC than a Tissot, and I dont think the quality is worth double the price of the auto variant. PRX Automatic any given day. FC design language a little unattractive compared to Tissot Royal Oak design. COSC is a bit irrelevant because you can have good accuracy in most of today’s watch standard. And in automatic you can get 80hrs of power reserve. What else can you ask for?

    There is no question that the PRX should be the winner. The values is hands down better than the FC. It is an icon of two generations. Every single time I put on the PRX strangers walk up to be and ask me about it. I have gotten business because of the PRX! I had someone fall out of love with their Rolex because of the PRX's looks and value.
    I think you should also measure the watch by the statment is sends out over leaning on its brand name like the FC, Rolex etc. People know the PRX and may not really understand the brand name Tissot.
    This is the end of my love letter. Lol

    Why the Prx is better than a Seiko or a citizen that are at the same price?most of the the japonese quartz movements hit the markers,plus this watch is a homage ....is not original design

    As WIS we're all victims of the Law of Diminishing Returns....but without a doubt I'd go for the FC myself. Buy what makes you happy, it's only money and we'll be dead one day.
    Cheers Bruce and good luck Steven 👍🏻👍🏻

    How about the FC vs sinn 556i?

  • @Ordash
    @Ordash 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Funny how tastes differ. For me the dial on the FC looks cheap (the globe print) and the bracelet too looks not as nice as the tissot one from a design perspective. Plus FC is practically a hommage brand like steinhart and Tissot is not, so there's that. For 1500 $ you can get much better watches than the FC but at 300 $ there isn't even a real competition for an integrated 70's style watch.
