Doubtful that the defense will be able to claim cross contamination or mishandling when it comes to the DNA evidence. The evidence found on the sheath was analyzed by the lab and recorded into their computer system weeks prior to their collection of the evidence from the trash which was done in a completely different state. The fact that they matched up after being collected weeks apart is a slam dunk, as far as I'm concerned.

I've seen plenty people convicted of murders they didn't do, but this would be one of the few acquittals I can name (if they magically get one) that are a horrible miscarriage of justice..OJ, Casey Anthony...and that's it. Where is the murder weapon or the weapon holder? Just because a person's phone goes off that don't make that person into a suspect, because if the battery goes dead, it disconnects from the system until the battery is replaced or charged. If this was a calculated murder, I believe he knew where to decapitate them early to avoid any of them yelling or screaming. Add in that they were likely intoxicated, it wouldn't be that unbelievable to think that the two girls upstairs wouldn't scream. As for Xana who was awake, a lot of people in shock would be frozen or not yell at the top of their lungs straight away. Again, 1 slit of the throat and you can't yell/scream/talk.

Also, did the Door Dash person see anything suspcious as they dropped off right as this thing seems to either be taking place or about to. Ethan was likely in bed when he was killed judging by the photos of the mattress/affidavit only stated Xana was on the floor. I'd say BK likely either saw Xana in the kitchen after he had just killed the girls upstairs, or heard her say something and followed her to her room. Her takeaway package was found in the kitchen with her name on it, so she definitely went into the kitchen at some point after getting the food, probably when she heard what was happening upstairs. They have meticulously documented Bryans movements on the morning of the murders, his phone pinged all over that area.. They have proof he had been stalking that house for months and know he turned his phone off during the murders....if he had left his phone at home they would have none of this evidence. He was under surveillance for weeks and was seen meticulously cleaning his car while wearing rubber gloves, and he was seen at 4am putting trash in a neighbors trash can at 4am......the cops got that trash and sent it away to be analyzed. It had items with his fathers DNA on them and it was compared to the DNA found on the knife sheath.....it proved that the perp was closely related to his father......its an overwhelming case even at this stage, and there will be a lot more evidence revealed at the trial.

I feel like this may be something the entire country needs to pitch in and check the surroundings in their proximity, especially near freeway entrances and exits. I’ve been following this story from day 1. After seeing the affidavit, I’m thinking his target was Kaylee and/or Maddie. He went up to their room first (unsheathed his knife), and on his way down he saw Xana (probably with her delivered food) by her bedroom door (she was found on the floor, not in bed). He killed her and Ethan. He went back downstairs and walked by Dylan’s room to go to the kitchen and exit. He didn’t attack Dylan because of one of the following reasons: 1) He was too exhausted, 2) He didn’t see her, 3) He was afraid that someone had already called the cops and he needed to get out out if there.
This is a nightmarish story, and I pray for the victims families. 🙏🏻

I read the new info revealed that Dylan was actually on the 2nd floor, the same floor as Xana's bedroom. Dylan saw the guy leave through the back sliding glass door. Bryan might've not gone to 1F, but he left through 2F back glass door. He likely already k1lled his target, that's probably why he didn't check the other bedrooms anymore and was just too focused on leaving the house
