    to all you WD 40 users on here - STOP THAT! use a silicone spray ONLY in this application - all you need to do is spray the bushings - not the metal. While you're at it spray the front bushings on your coil springs. Use SILICONE only - WD 40 is petroleum based - the bushings are petroleum based - thus - WD 40 will eat them - might as well put paint thinner on them.

  • @nyxzus

    Not just a chevy thing. Gease works better than wd40. However, I was able to fix mine permanently by jacking the rear of the truck up & taking a big flat head screw driver & wedging it under the tip (end) of the leaf spring pack (top two) where the clamp is & inserting a rubber/polyurethane piece I cut the width of the leaf spring about 4 inches long. Did this to both ends on both sides. Been over a year & not a squeak. This info is vague, however there is a write up on the GM forums somewhere. Mind you this particular truck of over 10 years old. But will work on any leaf springs.

    it took my dealership 4 times to fix it....lubricated them 3 times, and finally they just replaced my leaf springs about 2 weeks ago.

    I have a 18 silverado too, it's was doing it terrible. Took it to the dealership to get it addressed and to my surprise they admittedly said it was no good and ordered new leafs, u bolts, etc. So far it's quiet since all was replaced. (Side note: had read online prior to taking my truck in and seen the "fix" was basically packing the leafs with grease and was worried they'd do that to mine, but they actually did right and replaced everything instead of putting a band aid on)

  • @FordFan8691
    @FordFan8691 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    get you a nice thick wedge and a hammer, i know you got one, and cut you some 2"x4" rubber spacers with a pair of scissors. rubber dont need to be but a 1/4 inch thick. split the leafs with the hammer and wedge, get them spacers in there. front and rear, both passenger and driver side. obviously just the leafs.
    thank me later
    p.s. use some white lithium greese not pb blaster

  • @ehderguyyashootadeerorno2313
    @ehderguyyashootadeerorno2313 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just installed 1/4" thick rubber between the leaf springs. Cut it to 2 1/2" wide and went full length of leaf. Made a huge difference.

    My 2019 started this at 20k miles...I used blaster...worked for a week or so at a time...used red grease...worked for like 2 days...wound up ordering a "spring thing" kit wich is rubber peices to go in between leaf's and it has finally stopped

  • @arseneaufamily1096
    @arseneaufamily1096 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This common problem is being caused by automatic car wash which adds Armour all the tires but it sprays the springs as well and causes squeaking go to a self-serve car wash and a high pressure wash the springs problem solved if you like this and it worked send me 20 bucks ha ha.

    Dang , there’s the Chevy shake , and now the Chevy squeak. After I bought 5 new GM trucks , I went to Ram. I was sick of the stupid little wheel openings ya have to deal with when ya lift em. Ram has their quirks too though. Ya really notice this when your going down a bad road about 20 miles an hour in a quiet neighborhood. Ya can hear it like 3 houses away , lol. Yup just squirt em now and then
