Yep, also the spell effects are less noticeable and big because they want to support 500 vs 500 pvp, which would be very hard to pull of with 1 character making your entire screen go boom 😅
Not gonna lie, Blue is pretty biased towards BDO specifically when it comes to graphics.
He keeps saying that BDO has the best graphics in the MMO genre, but I would honestly say that while BDO has the best looking details and effects when viewed up close, the pop in already makes it worse and more immersion breaking than an MMO like New World, for example.
It doesn't look good when you're fighting in a node war and you see one ability effect for every 10 players fighting, while other players are just doing interpretive dance. If you're watching one player use his skills, the effects in BDO look better. If you look at an entire war, many other mmos (Ashes included) looks better.
Yea I was about to post that he is definitely a fan boy. BDO graphics are very dated when you actually examine them, they just hide it impressively well. The game still looks amazing but when you zoom in the textures are basically nonexistent. The actual graphics/effects on that lightning looks way better than BDO it just needs to be a bit more flashy and impactful.
Black desert actual pvp combat feels really bad to play.
And the games touted for its PVP.
The servers are bad.
Being hitstunned out of your Iframes/CC immunity frames feels bad.
And its because their servers suck ass and the engine is dogwater coded.
Its something ashes seems to be working on from the ground up.
That's what I noticed anyway from their dev reports and talks about server.
AS well as the 100+v100+ guild battles at castles that ran smooth (I was in one )
Thats what I care about.
Server stability.
You can fix animations.
You can fix graphics.
You can't fix my 500 ping spikes in black deserrt and being disconnected 12x in a single fucking seige.
They have been sipping the BDO Kool-Aid too long to understand just how boring the game is. Plus comparing a game that has been out for 10 years vs. a game that is still in development is wild. 6-10 years of development for a modern MMO is normal especially when you consider how small the development team for Intrepid was in 2017. Throne & Liberty started development in 2011 and took 13 years with the backing of NCSOFT (though to be fair they had a lot of delays too)
BDO PvP feels alright in small scale, but as soon as it gets to T3/T4 player caps, it starts being a lot less fluid, and siege is basically unplayable. They've shown with War of the Roses that non-laggy 300v300 is possible though, honestly every Bal/Val/Kama/etc-1 server should be NW/Siege only and yeet everyone who isn't yessed up.

I will take a well polished UE5 hybrid combat over BDO at this point. BDO is great but buggy and in a terrible engine. Traversing vertical terrain in BDO is so rubberbanding bad its laughable.
Not being able to target an enemy properly hinders BDO combat. Its hard to make a strategy other than spamming skills and killing things. Think about wow when it wasnt tank'n spank. The strategy for each pull of mobs would be impossible in BDO. Like a mage responsible for polymorphing a specific mob for example.
dont wana be a hater but hopefully u can actually see other player spell effects , in bdo u can only see your own effects or maybe up to 2-3 other players effect before ure fps plumets to the ground , and in pvp u not gona see any effect to begin with. i woud rather have lowe quality effects but alteast they dont dissapier when there are more players around, ofc with accaptable framerats.
Fully agree. BDO looks amazing when you're the only player doing anything (even then, the pop in makes it look worse than a lot of other mmos). If I saw those AoC effects x100 in a war, that would look way better than what BDO's wars currently look like.

I think BDO players often confuse slower with bad, and the screen not being completely covered in effects with inferior. I mean I like BDO too and those lightning effects could be turned up a bit for sure but it doesn't look that bad. The actual graphics on the effect look great even.
BDO having such "good" combat is worthless when there's fuck all you can do with it.
Like, Blue loves Naraka so much because that is essentially BDO combat but without janky gameplay and servers.
You don't know what you're talking about. BDO already has instanced dungeons, boss blitz, castle-siege type pvp (Node/Siege wars), matchmade uncapped pvp (red battlefield), matchmade capped pvp (arena of solare), tournaments (AoA), guild tournaments (guild league), guild vs guild PvX (war of the roses), battle arena, open world pvp, and of course open world pve/grinding. Also wdym Naraka doesn't have janky servers? Desync exists in Naraka too, so do bots and hackers, so what's your point?

BDO's combat is wonderful - but there are glaring optimization issues, etc, that undermine the beauty of the design.
When bdo was in alpha it was the same. The movement were clanky too.
I can see how someone not watching the game development close enough to know which livestream was when would be confused on the state of the game. That being said, I prefer the combat style of guild wars 2 which this combat seems to be leaning towards. I honestly disliked bdos combat as soon as multiple people were on the screen. As a solo player, bdos combat is nice. Other than that, I'd prefer new world or guild wars 2 combat which isn't near as flashy and you can clearly see what the opponent is doing. Blue loves bdo and seems incapable of complimenting anything outside of bdo. I may be wrong. I personally believe that AOC is taking their combat in a good direction.
Ashes combat looks like... a clicker's (Steven) dream xD. Its just not how most people want a combat system to be.

You’re comparing a game in pre alpha to game that has been live and iterated upon for over 10 years and has had a huge remaster, ofc AoCs combat is not as good as BDOs and doesn’t have to be, it just has to be fun
true, I main woosa in bdo, her skill animations are on a differet lvl, AoC has come a long way, perhaps it will be even more fun than bdo, But I don't think its reasonable to compare them at this point in time
It's come along way, but it's not gonna touch BDO even when it comes out. the graphics aren't even as good, and it looks slow and boring. I haven't played BDO in quite a while just cause I got tired of it, but this is objectively NOT worse than BDO. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
@@anonymousgamer8807 I agree that it will never reach BDOs combat, as for the graphics, I thinks AoCs will look better after more lighting and optimisation passes. Bear in mind, we’ve never seen the development of a game from the ground up, only games that are 1-2 years from launch so we can’t really compare. We will see when it launches
@@learic3240 I mentioned when BDO started development because we can compare 10yrs in development vs 10yrs in development. I'm sorry I just don't see how Ashes graphics are better. You could say "pop in" but how many games worlds are as big as BDOs with 1000s of people on the server at the same time?
The "it's in alpha/beta" excuse hasn't worked for about 10 years. I'm not saying he is right I think it looks much better than his reaction, especially the effects which look great graphics wise but just need to be turned up a bit, but the game has been in development for a really long time and it is not going to look much different than this when it comes out. They never do.
I agree! AoC combat improved a lot but it's far from being remembered by its combat system let alone compare to BDO.

You added nothing to the conversation. You didn't bother breaking down the animations of how weight is distributed on the model, or the mechanics of the skill tree, or pretty much any point Narc and the other content creators made about this update. You just surprised pikachu'd for 20 minutes about how the combat just looks soo inferior without giving us any actual examples. Even when you pulled up BDO, you just slammed your desk and scoffed instead of talking about what you would like to see Ashes grow into or how they can improve. Obviously a game that is still in Alpha (TWO, like that detail matters) isn't going to have the polish of a 10 year old game, the wizard livestream is a year old, a full 15-18months before A2 drops. Things are going to continue to change, and frankly you lost all credibility when you couldn't tell the difference between of quality and styles between the years of development. Even if you were right, you, a content creator, didn't even bother discussing why.
I'm on board for some legitimate criticism, keeping copium down and helping the game grow is great, but this was just a low effort shit-on-ashes vod to get clicks from the people who want to hate on it. This video would have been 30 seconds long if you weren't riding off Narc's content.
I hope your next video on ashes actually tries to better the community as a content creator.

ESO dosent have action speed buff. but does have animation cancelling tied to light attacks. ESO gcd is 1 sec for every skill

insane, AoC combat is unlike anything i've played. this game is beyond masterpiece.
I mean gameplay wise it's nowhere near bdo but it still looks good imo. Not the best but also not the worst either.

Let them cook chief. Im willing to look past the choppy animations and effects, because I can see the vision. Also, you can anim cancel in the game currently, they show it off in the actual showcase. I think it has potential, but its obvious Steven isnt a Warrior main, so he doesnt know how to play the class lol. Its like if you hand a Berzerker the reins of a Ninja, they wont know how to play the game at all
Ofc a zerker main would be lost on any other class. They’d have to use stamina.
The animations aren't very good but the actual graphics on the effects are great they just need to be a bit more flashy and impactful. They don't need to cover the entire screen in shit like in BDO for them to be good either it just seems like that is what he wants.

They started talking about AoC in 2014 and announced it in 2016. About 10 years and this is all they have? It’s very similar to Asian cut-paste Action MMO. Another giant silly weapons, flashy lights, spin around to attack garbage with little depth. Make yourself a macro on your mouse and use it till max level. I hoped for better.
