    Love these series. Short, fun, great humor, great characters, interesting world. Really looking forward to the next installment of Bad Guys.

      Me too! I love the home-y vibe while still having the MC adventure.

    Eric Ugland is a really great person. I was a just a fan and posted on his discord about my two friends who died and left behind their 4 kids, and he donated to the cause. No need to, he's just a really humble and fantastic guy.

    I love and hate his books they're addictive but very very short and they're crushing my audible credits

      That is a popular complaint for a lot of LitRPG that is around 10 hours. I've seen comments on the LitRPG subreddit where people say they won't buy any audiobook under x number of hours. Kinda breaks my heart because there are some really great stories out there that are "short", but would be average length for a novel in another genre. I get it though they are expensive.

      @@UpperPenPodcast I'm a bad person I give them all of my audible credits but I'll torrent if I run out.

      I’m fortunate enough to have all the GG and BG series on audiobooks free through my library system otherwise I’d be in the same boat with you Brian

    Great books. My number one issue with the entire series is the lack of romance. Or at least sex...

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really mind, mostly because his Bad Guys books have a little romance in them.

    • @InteractiveIdea
      @InteractiveIdea ปีที่แล้ว

      @UpperPenPodcast I know. I am up to book 9 on that one too and it's just underdeveloped for me. The character obviously shows interest but doesn't act on it. So unrealistic character development for me. Plus I am surprised how little other spells are being used.

    • @UpperPenPodcast

      Good point. I have been on a bit of a romance binge lately and wonder why there aren't litRPG romances...or many of them anyway.

      @UpperPenPodcast Have you read Primal Hunter? It's another series I am currently reading, and I feel like they have it better in that regard.

      I haven't yet. I own it , but just haven't gotten to it. Maybe that will be the litRPG I start 2024 with.

    I love the good guy it is one of the best litrpg ever, and it is one of the most intelligent litrpg out there. Go get the audiobook for free on audible if you are a premium member.

    I think that lit RPG is an excellent genre built into it is a forgiveness for deus ex machina not only is it forgiven but it's expected and encouraged.

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, I also think we are much more likely to forgive inexperienced writers because their stories are good, if not always well written.

    I don’t know whether-with all the tasteful profanity and graphic violence-the GG series should be classified as a guilty pleasure of mine or just a pleasure, lol, but the series is definitely doing it for me. Just as good has been the BG series but a noticeable absence of profanity and violence. Ironic?

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eric said he tried to keep the profanity to a minimum in the Bad Guys because in the Good Guys, Montana is based off a biker friend of his and he kept his mannerisms as an homage.

      @@UpperPenPodcast thanks for interviewing him! I’m almost finished with book 7 in GG and finished book 2 in BG and am hooked. I love that the series are starting to come together too. And YES I want the Ugly Guys (UG? Ugland…) but still want the others lol.

      @@UpperPenPodcast Do you know of a website that has compiled the characters from the 2 series? I've only found one on a Fandom site and it's quite lacking. I'm starting to create one myself in my Goodreads reviews as well.

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure, but I could probably throw something together on my WordPress site. I'll get back to you if I find something.

      @@UpperPenPodcast That would be great thank you! I am curious about spellings (I'm only doing the audiobooks) and tidbits of story that I might've forgotten with each character. For instance, I forgot what race Montana's cleric is, his name sounds like "Michael Yon" in the audiobook, and I know he's a furry white creature smaller than the Lutra.

      I think the book covers got better. The newer ones are similar to classic fantasy novel covers and I enjoy them. I do get where you are coming from though, lol
