Been keeping my son's SSD upgraded PS4 Pro up to date as he's got the PSVR w/ all accessory do-dads (Racing wheel, HOTAS flight stick, AIM controller, & Move sticks... Super Fun BTW! I kinda wish I didn't sell my PS4 (Pro) to my brother in law but I got a PS5 which is already backwards compatible with (most all) PS4 games. Plus I've already jailbroke and softmodded a few of my consoles.
No disc needed. All games are installed via fake packages (fpkg) Even OG PS4 original games don't use the disc. The disc is only used as a security authentication check in boot-up, after that the data is installed and read from the HDD. Fake packages on a JB console remove that disc check.

No. FW is also flashed to the Nand area, so if you updated to the latest (9.00) and swapped to a SSD or HDD, you would need the Recovery 9.00 update file to install the drive. There is no method to downgrade any firmware.

If you format the internal drive the ps4 recognizes that newer firmware was on it? I was thinking a brand new internal drive with older firmware would work
@@TomGeek1980 You cannot swap between any firmware of choice, as there is no downgrade option available. You can only go higher or reinstall the version you have. If a user is on a 8.xx range or the latest 9.00 and installed a new drive, they would need the 8.xx or 9.00 recovery PUP file to install the drive. Trying a 7.55 update PUP file or lower on 8.xx or 9.00 will be denied, as the FW is also installed to the internal NAND of the console and a version mismatch would occur.

8GB is max on internal and External. So in theory you could have a total of 24GB over 3 8GB drives.

HW failure (RLOD) most likely. Look into getting a reballing job on the board or invest in another.

Its possible to play ps3 games on ps4?
No. Not enough power to do it. Also the architecture of the PS3'S Cell processor is difficult to emulate.
