    Thank you so much for this video. I've watched a few this morning & yours was, by far, the clearest & simplest. I appreciate that you showed us the full setup & then demonstrated how it worked. I just purchased this switch (but in the USB 3 version, which I probably didn't need) and will be using it to share with my work laptop. One question I have, my laptop is a Surface Pro, do you know if there are any additional considerations? I have recently been provided a docking station for the surface & I believe I would just connect that to this switch, correct? Thank you for any additional help you can provide.

      for frequent switching I'd suggest a software solution, like Synergy or Barrier. I use Barrier most of the time, but it won't work with games that need direct access to the mouse hardware if the gaming PC isn't the server and the mouse directly connected to it. But mine is a rare case, because I need the mac keyboard hosted on the mac and the mouse connected on the gaming PC.

    if you just want to switch mouse and keyboard, get a KVM. it will switch the display as well. My 34inch ultrawide G34WQ has one built in. One usb c cable goes to the laptop and it passes through display, mouse and keyboard.mouse and keyboard plug into the monitor. So use it mostly for desktop but if i need to work, i plug in one usb C cable and can switch back and forth with one click each time. USB switches are more for hardware like audio interfaces etc. doesnt make sense to use it for two computers and have to also switch video when a KVM is designed for that

    Thanks for sharing a very informative video. Q: Are you able to continue watching and listening to videos on Computer 1 when you click the Switch to access Computer 2? Or does Computer 1 temporarily go into the Sleep Mode when accessing Computer 2? Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    I’m curious about your HDMI switcher. I normally play with DP and I’ve been looking for a DP KVM that supports 240 hz. Seems like there’s not something I can find that’s not like paying an arm and a leg. My question for you is do you notice latency when gaming or in your stream by using the HDMI as opposed to the DP version.

      @Nilruin 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No. Modern HDMI is comparable to DP from a frame rate/latency/frequency perspective. If there is a latency, it's not noticeable, at least not in my experiences having recently swapped from a DP KVM to an HDMI KVM.

    It would have been better design if the switch had two buttons for two devices like the Logitech multi-device bluetooth keyboards do. I think it's more user friendly this way.

    Does it automatically switch to the second computer's display or would you have to manually change the input on the monitor? I noticed you used the remote to change your monitor's input before you hit the button on the KVM, hence, the question.

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is only a KM switch or a peripheral switch. if you need something that also switches your screens you need a "KVM" switch which includes video outputs

      @@RAVisuals Is that what you used? Or did you use two devices (USB switch for peripherals and another device for screens)? What is the other device?

    Bought the 3.0 device version for a discount on amazon, having difficulty switching from one computer to another in one monitor. I tried several attempts to unplug&connect device, but it continues to show one computer only. Upset with the device, your video makes it look easy-to-use

    When switching between the two computers my microphone becomes static-y for a small period of time. makes it pretty awkward whenever I am trying to twitch scenes, manage alerts or type in chat.

    Thanks, just wanted to clear one thing, if we allow remote access to someone by anydesk or teamviewer, so would he/she control both devices or just one where we install anydesk?

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe you’d have to change control with this switch and then they’d be able to control that system. I don’t think people can change control remotely since this uses a button

    I wish they come with wireless output option. Or wireless remote switch so I attach that to the keyboard. Or option to dedicate a key on the keyboard for the switching such as Ctrl+Alt+1.

    Could this be used to switch between console and pc? I like using m&k on console for games like dayz that support it. But don’t like having to plug out my m&k from my pc and plug it into my Xbox when I want to play. I’d like more of a seamless switch like this. Please lmk if that would work or if you could text that out I’d appreciate it 1000X over

    I just have to ask a silly question. I have been thinking of getting a switch. If I have work laptop A going with HDMI's out to my monitors and gaming desktop B that uses Direct Video to the monitors. I typically was switch the USB 2.0 adapter for my mouse and keyboard and hitting the monitor to change inputs. Would a switch do all of that for me and handle the monitors too?
