    FEATURED KVM: geni.us/016-hks421
    Today’s step-by-step KVM switcher setup video shows you how to connect 2 laptops with 2 shared screens. This gives each of the 2 laptops 2 extended screens for maximum multitasking. TESmart’s 2 laptops 2 monitor switch (KVM) also gives the user the ability to use just 1 keyboard with 2 laptops. KVM’s have quickly become a work-from-home essential to swap a single keyboard, mouse, and monitor between work and home computers. We used our Apple 13” MacBook Pro & Lenovo Yoga C940 along with a pair of AOC monitors for this video. No more unplugging / re-plugging your devices!

      Thank you for your videos. I think this one seems to be the best option for me it does not have everything I'm trying to set up but it comes the closest. I am new to all of this. I work from home and have:
      a work lap top
      a personal desktop gaming computer
      2 monitors
      xbox
      a web cam
      mic
      wired mouse & keyboard
      Trying to find a way to set it all up. I don't want to use both computers at the same time just want to switch back and forth to use share equipment.

    This device is awesome. I looked at a lot of devices before buying this one. I recommend using a powered USB hub so that you can connect all your peripherals through the USB 2.0 port. This will ensure wider support for keyboard/mouse and things like cameras and mic headsets.

    Thank you for taking the time to communicate with me about my KVM switch that stopped working. I removed my previous comment because I do not want to leave a negative comment for such a great product. Everything is man-made and some things will fail, it was just my time. I am happy to say that TESmart is replacing the failed unit and they are standing behind their product. Since they are replacing my unit, I am going to order a 2nd one to have as a backup just in case anything happens in the future. The workstation is my income and I really need it. I look forward to more great products from this company.

    this demo was perfect! Really helped me buy a 4x2 KVM switch from you guys! The ability to have 1 computer per monitor really helps and is way less hassle trying to pull open windows over to the correct side of the screen when in dual monitor mode.

    This was exactly what I needed to set up a work-from-home office with 2 Windows laptops and 2 monitors. I purchased the KVM, monitor arms, and already had the Microsoft mouse and keyboard. Highly recommend getting a powered USB hub for stable use of your devices , and portable hubs for each laptop to make disconnecting/reconnecting cables faster - you can also use them for travel. Love my new KVM!

    This is the ultimate convenience for wfh setups in addition to your personal pc setup as well. No more having to plug your peripherals/monitors separately into several hubs linked to your laptop than reverse it to use your personal pc. Just a simple button to switch in between wow.

    Hallelujah! I got the HDMI + DP one and it works amazing with my setup! I've got a Macbook Pro hooked up to a CalDigit TS3 Plus and an HP PRO DESK 600 G4. DP out from TS3 and USB-C to HDMI from MBP, then HDMI+DP out from the HP. I don't like the buzzer sound it makes but you can turn it off. I've been trying to find a KVM solution for 2 years and I've spent thousands of dollars -- including KVMs that cost 3 times as much and 4x $100 EDID repeaters -- but none of them worked. This one has been working flawlessly and I'm so happy. Thank you!

    Just did the setup for 2 windows laptops. I had the docking station already so just ordered the Type C to Hdmi + USB + Power adapter you used for MAC. Since my other laptop had HDMI input, I did not need type c to Hdmi cable and instead hdmi to hdmi that came with the package worked for me. Tips in this video were very helpful and I am glad I purchased it. Ordered yesterday via Amazon and I just finished the setup and extremely happy. The switch happens very quickly. Best KVM :)😊

      I am getting ready to order this myself and feel like everyone else here: it is the most concise video showing exactly how to set things up. I also have 2 windows laptops however, on one, my USB C port does not support dual monitors so I had to find a USB A to HDMI adapter in order for both monitors to work. I only have 1 HDMI and one USB 3.0 (which is now being used buy said adapter). I'm not sure if I will need yet another adapter for this to work. My other laptop is a dream and has all the connections necessary. I hope I can get it to work like your did yours!

Also, the support was fantastic, I was intimidated by all the choices of connection cables - they walked me right through the process and the order arrived promptly with all the right cables. One note, after the setup was complete, I did need to adjust my speaker settings to hear video. Not a big deal, but the program does seem to default to the headphone jack.

    This is literally the best video I could have possibly found for what I am looking for! We have a new client for our medical billing service that only works on MAC and we work on PC. This is so helpful. I do have two questions though. Desk space can be an issue when you start having all of these devices. 1) can this same setup work if you are using a desktop PC (not a laptop)? 2) (not as crucial of a question) Can the MAC be shut and off to the side while still projecting to the monitors?
    I know when we were working from home I have a MAC at home and would remote into the office and I could have my MAC shut to save desk space and just work off my monitors and it would still have full functionality.
    Super excited to share this solution with my manager! Thanks so much!

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) Yes. We have other setup videos demonstrating that: th-cam.com/video/EsfzitB9AwA/w-d-xo.html.
      2) Depends on the Mac but usually. Windows absolutely has no problem but Macs can take some configuring and/or software to achieve this (and we are still not sure about the M1 having this capability). It might take some trial and error to figure out.

      You will be able to extend the monitors for the desktop computer and the laptop, but since the xbox only has 1 video connection (HDMI) you will only able to use 1 monitor.
      For the mic and webcam we recommend an externally powered USB Hub connected to the USB 2.0 on the back of the KVM.

    Great video, I have already bought my KVM and received it yesterday. I wonder if you really need a USB hub with additional power supply to use teleconferencing devices like shown in the video. Is a normal USB hub WITHOUT power supply like the Anker Ultra Slim USB 3.0 hub also sufficient to connect a mic and webcam?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, a powered USB hub is needed to guarantee stability if you have more than one USB device is plugged into the KVM. From our perspective, we never know the amount of power draw a user's USB devices are going to take. We accidentally forgot to power the hub first on our original take and the KVM switched to the other input on it's own and locked up the mouse... both of which are completely unrelated to the USB hub.

      Macs are wild animals and kind of do what they want for external monitors. This is pretty well-documented on forums. The KVM does support dual 4K60 it's just a matter of forcing the Mac to use that resolution. You might have to use software to lock it in. Personally, we typically use whatever resolute the Mac suggests because it usually looks good.

    Great video, quick question. Can you easily change which computers show on which monitor? In your setup you use a side by side left/right setup. What i would like to try is a vertical top/bottom setup and switch which comp is in my "main" view in front of me. Possible?

    Hi! Great video. I would like to use this KVM switch with a desktop PC, and a Thinkpad docking station. The issue is that the docking station only has DisplayPort/HDMI for monitor 1, and DisplayPort/VGA for monitor 2. So i would be able to use the included HDMI combination cable for monitor 1, and USB connection to the docking station. My question is: Would this work with a separately bought HDMI -> DisplayPort cable for monitor 2 on the Thinkpad docking station? Thanks!

    • @avicotech-us

      Yes but make sure you get the correct adapter. Go to buytesmart.com/adapters. It'll make it ALOT easier because those on the list work with the KVM and it has From and To columns to make sure you get the right conversion. The video signal flows from the computer to the KVM. And then from the KVM to the monitors.

    Hi there TESmart!
    Do your KVM suport DDC emulation? I mean, my issue right now is once I switch machines all my windows rearrange and the USB devices 'replug' making the SO detect them and switch to them (even if I don't need them). This is quite annoying... Do your KVM switcher maintain windows positions?
    Thanks

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it'll maintain Windows positions. As far as USB devices, they have semi-DDC. The mouse & keyboard will not disconnect but other devices plugged into the USB2.0 port will.

    • @avicotech-us

      Hi Martin, each KVM has different functionalities depending on your needs, our KVMs have the capabilities to display both computer on each screen simultaneously which is a very rare functionality on the KVM environment.
      Also, the KVM needs two video connections from each computer to be able to output both monitors and an USB connections (also on each computer) to share the same set of keyboard and mouse, not using the docking station will make the Laptop the use of adapters for the video connections and the USB, is not almost necessary the use of a docking station but it simplifies the connections.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. You don't want a splitter because it's going to replicate/mirror the image. You won't get an "extended" screen. For the HDMI monitor, it should be easy because you'll go HDMI out from the KVM to HDMI in to the monitor. For your other monitor, you can try an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. Here's a list of adapters on our site that helps make sure you get the right FROM and TO conversion. buytesmart.com/adapters If you search for this on Amazon, they'll only show you from DP to HDMI and you want from HDMI to DP.

    Are you only able to activate the split desktop mode (each computer on 1 monitor) via remote or the scroll lock hot keys? When I turned the KVM on for the first time, it was set this way but now I can't get it back. I have tried switching using the yellow button on the front of the KVM but it only switches which computer shows on both monitors. The scroll lock doesn't work on the MX3.

      Hey AmrT Cpp, the KVM need 2 video connections to be able to extend the monitors for each computer, if there is only 1 HDMI connection you will only have 1 monitor displaying. Hi! I have currently a laptop with a thinkpad docking station and a PC gaming, and two monitors. If i understood correctly, i'll need the HDMI - HDMI KVM (my laptop has a hdmi port and the thinkpad has one too, and my pc gaming has two) + a powered usb port (for my keyboard, mic and mouse). Just wanted to check with you before buying. Is it the right material that i need ? And i was wondering, why does the usb hub need to be powered ? Thanks
    :)

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, it sounds like you've got it pretty well figured out! The powered USB hub is only needed if want to plug more than 1 USB device in the standard USB2.0 port. The KVM has 2 additional ports for the M/K. If you want to plug all 3 devices into the standard USB2.0 port, then you will need a powered hub. The only downside to doing this is the KVM will not recognize hotkey commands. Hotkeys are only received when a keyboard is plugged into the dedicated M/K ports. Hope this helps.

      That would be a Reverse KVM, where you have 2 physical desktops with 1 computer. Reverse KVMs are very rare.
      Most likely you'll have to run 4 video feeds from the MacMini and 2 long USB extenders. You aren't "switching" so you wouldn't need a KVM.

      1) Yes - checkout the intro video on the hightlights/specs: th-cam.com/video/v6K4eIHZXZI/w-d-xo.html
      2) No - keyboard software will conflict with the K/M emulation. You would have to use the USB2.0 port of the KVM if you want to use Setpoint/Options software. For more details, we have this in the FAQ of the product pages. buytesmart.com/collections/dual-monitor
      3) Yes - you can use the front push button and/or the remote control. The front push button cannot switch to Mode 2 (split desktop). It will only switch under Mode 1 (extended desktop) because that Mode is what most people use.

      We use the Ergo wireless keyboard in a video our two on our channel and don't have any major lag. If it's "jumpy" then it's probably an RF interference issue. The KVM needs two video connections from each computer to be able to output both monitors, the use of a docking station is not always necessary on most of the cases unless you want to avoid the use of adapters or have more space. The use of adapter won't affect any of the KVM's capabilities so you should be fine.

    Hi, this looks very close to what I need. In my case, I want to connect a mac laptop and a windows desktop to dual monitors. What I'm not sure about are the kbd/mouse connections. In the video only one dongle is used to connect both the kbd/mouse to the kvm? And then one usb cable goes to each computer carrying both kbd/mouse signals?
    Eg, right now I have a kbd and a mouse both connected to the desktop via usb cables (no dongles), Ie, 2 usb connections are being used on the desktop. Presumably I would connect the kbd/mouse to the kvm, using the provided ports. But then only one usb cable per machine is provided, so I would connect the one usb cable to my desktop (and the other to the laptop) and that would carry both mouse and kbd signals?

      Yes. The KVM acts as a USB hub. Hi Karim. Open up a ticket on the website and we'll send you links for what you need to purchase. Go to buytesmart.com and then an orange support icon will appear in the lower right hand side of the screen.

    I have two questions. I have two macbook pros, Is there any way to connect apple magic keyboard and trackpad to KVM and use the same to control two computers. Also I am planning to shut both the laptops down and work with the monitors. Should the laptop be plugged with power source all the time or it works with just the battery. Thanks for the innovating with the new products.

      1) The keyboard and mouse will need to be plugged into the KVM. So you won't be able to use them in Bluetooth mode because the KVM can only "see" what is plugged into it. If you use a trackpad, that will need to be plugged into the USB2.0 port in the back of the KVM.
      2) You will want to have the laptops plugged in all the time. You can use them unplugged but the laptops will have to be open or they will go to sleep.

      Yes. They will support SUW monitors. Here's a setup using a regular UW: th-cam.com/video/CYq9aeDNAFA/w-d-xo.html. We have a Galaxy G9 on order for the next setup video for the new 2-port / 4-port units. buytesmart.com/hks212

    Apologies if this has been asked, but if i wanted to use wireless bluetooth earbuds, does the unit have bluetooth built in or would I need to add a Bluetooth dongle to one of the usb inputs?

      There is no BT built in. You could use a BT receiver plugged into the USB port or connect BT directly to your computer.

    My tesmart kvm has been working but today just shows “-“ (double dash) in the selection display and I can’t get it to change. I tried unplugging/restarting kvm and computers (unplugging all cables) and it just stays on double dash. How can I fix/reset it?

      Hi Peter, the HKS0802A1U Model that has a front panel which shows the "double dash" you probably pressed 'Close' by accident, this will turn off the display and monitors.
      Just press it once more and everything should be back to normal.

    I have been using the TES-HDK0402A1U-CABK. Working flawlessly but the only issue I have is when I have each monitor for the PC (personal) and the laptop (work) setting I am not able to have the mouse move from one screen to the other. I realize the scroll lock way to do it as mentioned in this video but my Logitech keyboard doesnt have a scroll lock key. Is there another way to do this? I have the Logitech K850 keyboard if that helps. Appreciate any help and thanks for the great set up tutorials.

      Hi Z. You need to rearrange your desktop monitors. We go over that in this video: th-cam.com/video/EsfzitB9AwA/w-d-xo.html at around the 3:19 mark.

    Do the two laptops have to be open for this to work? For example, my existing PC Laptop docking station displays to the monitors while the laptop is closed but plugged in. I assume because the docking station is powering the laptop as well rather than just controlling display.

      You can use the same setup with the laptops closed, just make sure they have power. Also, I think your assumptions are correct.

    Do you know of any kvm that allow you to run Mac on one monitor, Windows on the other, but allow the mouse to go back and forth without having to click the kvm? I know there is a software called Synergy but it gets mixed reviews.

      We don't unfortunately. We know of software as well but not hardware.

    Hello. I got the KVM recently. As you said I plugged trackpad into USB 2.0 and it's working. But I plugged Apple keyboard into designated USB and it's not working but it's working when I plugged to USB 2.0. I didn't see that coming and it's a bummer. Is there a work around ? Also what are the keys in Magic Keyboard to switch between the different PC's since the keyboard doesn't have scroll lock ?

      We just recorded a video with an all-Mac environment. Because the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad are Bluetooth, they still conflict with the KVM's mouse/keyboard emulation. As you found, they work perfect in the USB2.0 but that port does not recognize hotkeys. In the video, we setup a Logitech MX Keys for Mac and (original) MX Master 3 mouse. They both work great in the designated mouse/keyboard ports and have both multimedia/special functions and hotkey switching.
