Spoiler episode 4:
According to the leaks, Aegon appears by surprise in the battle with his dragon Sunfyre, and attacks Rhaenys and Meleys. Aemond observes on the ground together with Vhagar the king's performance against Rhaenys and upon realizing that Sunfyre and his brother would not be a match for Meleys, he decides to intervene. Aemond arrives with Vhagar and opens fire on Sunfyre and Meleys, with the intention of hurting them both (It is understood that Aemond's interest is also to kill his brother). Rhaenys and Meleys dodge the fire while Sunfyre and Aegon are shot and fall burned but alive. Rhaenys could run away but prefers to stay and fight Vhagar and Aemond. Apparently, Princess Rhaenys assumes that Vhagar is slower and heavier to catch up to Meleys. So she decides to take the risk by returning to the battlefront to wound Vhagar several times, who is unable to return the attacks because she is slower. Aemond, afraid of his imminent defeat and almost losing control of Vhagar (who acts on his own on some occasions), decides to use the same strategy that killed Prince Lucerys and his dragon: hide in the clouds and counterattack his rival. Rhaenys and Meleys, without significant damage, do not find Vhagar and Aemond in their field of vision, but fly around Lord Staunton's castle in search of their rivals. Surprisingly, Vhagar launches himself from the sky towards Meleys and thus, both fall with their riders. During the fall, Vhagar takes off Meleys' head and releases her body so as not to hit the ground. Rhaenys dies on impact but without being charred like in the books.
