That's funny because Aegon and his dragon are described as having the best dragon-rider relationship, even when the dragon was unable to fly due to his injured wing, he turned himself at the last moment so that he don't fall on Aegon and crush him. I blame the show writers for not showing that. We could have seen their relationship instead of depicting Aegon in a ridiculous way and including silly scenes that don’t contribute to the story.

Older dragons have had many riders but let's not act like that's why aegon doesn't speak high valerian to his dragon. Its because he barely knows the language and never bothered to learn it. Her reason not to run is explained better in the books. Meleys is one of only two dragons with riders that could take on Vhagar with any chance of winning. In addition, if Vhagar dies the war is effectively over, and the longer the war goes on, the more chances Aemond has to pick off the younger riders when they are alone. Rhaenys was sent by Queen Rhaenyra to protect the people of Rooks Rest in this Battle. Just because Vhagar shows up to fight it doesn't mean the Battle is over. If Rhaenys had fled back to Dragonstone, running away from the Battle and Abandoning the people of Rooks Rest, Rhaenyra's claim would be viewed as weak. Like Queen Rhaenyra runs away when things get tough. That's the simple answer for Rhaenys's suicide mission. Put even simpler, there were still people to protect. By the Queen 👑 Who *ALWAYS* Was 💔 ❤️
