ITH are kinda unique, they started very small an niche but then blossomed into one of the biggest Tiny House builders there is, the reason for that is quality and price. They do actually give a shit about their customers, 1 vid i saw years ago, a Lady from Chicago bought a Tiny Home and had a small crash on the way home. They went out to her, bought everything back, fixed all the things that needed fixing and then Took her home safely, basically made sure everything was ok and escorted her home, all for Free. That sort of care is rare these days as we all know, they didn't have to do that, she had already paid and was on her way home with her new house but still they helped her. Damm good company ethic, make sure the customer is happy and taken care of.

So much red tape involved with codes etc, at least a part of that is resolved by owning the land outright, is it perhaps it can be considered "private property", so therefore the subject of code this code that isn't applicable????

I had a 522 sq ft house in the city that was absolutely adorable. When I moved to the country I had people wanting to buy it, but they had trouble getting a mortgage. Banks think only people with no money would choose to live in a small house (even though it was larger and much nicer than many condos)! And here they were saying on the radio yesterday that we are short MILLIONS of homes because we haven't been building enough since the 70s. The irony is that my 522 sq ft house was the house that city's big-ass mayor's parents had lived in when they got married! My how things change.

That is a homy tiny, all the essential are there. The big room is a living room/bedroom , you can still have a guest, there is enough seating in the chairs and bed and stool. There is a place to eat and a desk. I love how there is a storage loft over the bed, it is easy to access climbing on the bed. I would add some pot lights under the loft to provide some light to read in bed. The air fryer provides a small oven, you can cook a giant cookie and some brownies. And of course roast veggies and meat. An easy way to have a roof over your head.

I love the idea of these custom built homes. I hope one day to see tiny homes custom built and in communities for disabled, elderly, and homeless people.
People who are disabled and/.or elderly are often poor, especially if they are unable to work. It's hard to find an affordable place to rent that are also accessible. Most apartments have stairs even in the lowest level, and no home or apartment is built with disabled people in mind.
I'm disabled, so always looking for new, interesting, and affordable ideas that might work disabled people. We could create communities with single level tiny homes, who could share caregivers. There could be a community building if people want to eat together, socialize, movie nights, or whatever people might want, while still living in individual units (apartments, or small houses).
We all saw the horrific conditions in care homes during COVID, and so many people hoped that would lead to change. We need to treat people who are disabled, elderly, and/or homeless as human beings instead of nuisances to be ignored. I think tiny home communities could be a solution for many problems where people lack housing or housing with care that doesn't cost the earth.

@Dain75 - Couldn’t agree more. I see these Tiny builds that are, almost always, homes that have loft sleeping quarters and know that would not work for me. I’m a ‘dis-abled’ ‘senior’ (I really dislike both those words) living in an apt. LOL…it’s a reduced rent building and the income cap is $59,000+/year. I have a Single for which I am grateful. The problem is the building is HUGE with the laundry on the opposite far corner, the mail boxes all the way around. The hallways have thick carpet, tons of fire doors…& the flooring that isn’t level (eq damage I’m guessing). Trying to just go get my mail or drop off my rent check takes forever and wears me out. I can’t do my own laundry because just getting me there is a deal, but I can’t bring clothes too. There are two elevators, the back one is closest to me so I got a key for my friend because there is no way for me to buzz her in at the back door. (God bless her.) And don’t get me started about the bathroom. Except for the wheelchair lift at the front door this building isn’t really accessible, but I have been able to pay the rent…By the Grace of God.
Having a whole Community of affordable accessible housing with amenities + services would a dream.
Actually having whole Tiny Communities with stores, community centers, etc. for most people w/b groovy. As long as there are thing’s available that w/b in normal communities.

Thierry are some communities like that already out there, and from the sizes shapes, they accomodate families, homeless, disabiled. They have a community center for pot luck dinners. A laundry rm. for singles. They have community vegetable and flower gardens. They are overseen by people from the individuals who live there. If rules are not being followed, then they can be asked to leave. No one owns the home they are in. They are rented and usually paid from social security. For the homeless, having an address now allows them to get benefits. Most are on the west coast.

We just need functional design..so much of what's built currently is non functional for elderly, disabled , seniors, we want to still be a part of the community and we have lots to still offer..... Keep praying that there will be tiny home communities opening up for us, we are being priced out so badly here in Phoenix .. look everyday...we need to band together speak as 1, to get zoning & codes changed to accommodate our needs, don't kick your mother, father ,auntie, uncle, G ma or G pa to the curb .......

      @Dain75 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@RevdUp.Art.Fotografer I can so relate to buildings that say the are accessible, but do the absolute minimum to get the designation. We need people who are actually disabled making the regulations for disabled housing. I went to a store that said it was accessible and there was a huge concrete step up into the store. When my friend asked they said, "oh we just help manual wheelchairs up." Are you kidding me?? For one, I'm in a power chair, not every disabled person is the one we always see on tv, the person who is paralyzed from the waist down, but has a super strong upper body, and uses a lightweight chair to get around, because they can easily push themselves. There are people in motorized scooters and wheelchairs, there are people who can walk, but can't do stairs, and the list goes on, everyone is different.
There are rules and laws for a reason (not that they go nearly far enough). Plus all the older buildings that can't afford to make themselves accessible (the city should be helping with that).
All new housing; houses, condos, apartments, and all houses, and commercial buildings should be accessible. I can't visit any friends or family because I can't get into their house. It would be so easy to design disabled accommodations that looked nice, and were functional, but no, that might cost money. You'd have to hire an architect instead of using the same home designs to build the same houses in the same neighbourhoods over and over and over. Can't we use a bit of imagination when building houses? That's one reason I like when people actually build their own home. It is unique, no cookie cutter housing. Unfortunately, that is only available to the rich; beauty, freedom, the ability to adapt change, and to afford being disabled among a myriad of other things you can't get with money and power.
People shouldn't have to be rich to have a home, food, clothing, and a little bit of beauty. Disabled people should not live on the street ever, there never should be or needs to be a lack of affordable, accessible housing. Our society has failed so many people, and it is failing more of them everyday.
We have the money to do it, but we'd rather cut taxes for the rich, let them get away with breaking every law because they can afford the fines.

It was originally built to be a camper but we have ended up living in it full-time while we build our forever home (408 sq ft cottage) on land we purchased last September. We completed our tiny house (named "The Antares" because it is red and my husband is an amateur astronomer with a telescope filter business) in 2020 and it ended up costing us US$15K (we did everything ourselves). Hi Matt, nice seeing you again! It was nice seeing a small clip of our home as well! True that ITH has homes and DYI homes starting as low as 15k to over 100k like ours. A price point for all.
Stella looks just like oue Dulce', i'll have to send you a pic of her. Say hi to Jenna from us, Bill and Carmen. (Our home aired on 1/6/23).

I would so put my own personal touches in these homes. One for sure is figure out how to add color not just with paint but some cool peel and stick wallpaper as well. The bathroom would need a form of privacy perhaps a sliding door nothing fancy like a farm door. Perhaps add some kind of crown molding look too. And I’m sorry but if you’re going tiny make sure you’ve got at least a small stove with an oven particularly to bake a small turkey, pot roast etc. And jazz it up with a cool color refrigerator freezer as well. The front room to me would be a nice pretty day bed nothing too foofoo and a small glider chair like from a nursery. And tie it all together with cool ass rugs and I’d be happy. On the outside again, add some wood elements and color. Perhaps a porch awning couple pieces of lawn furniture plants etc.

These are so fun. I’m just hoping these tiny homes have effective plumbing with running water for washing, bathing and toilet. A driveway would be nice too😄 I’m curious to see if communities can be made with these ideas and benefits in mind. Especially for singles like me.

@Starlet Satori , that is a great idea, too. 👍 However, if an individual is looking to be debt free and save money, the best approach would be to buy everything cash. Buying things cash, saves a huge amount of money because there is no interest involved. As we all know, interest is what keeps everybody as a slave of the rat race, barely making it and in turn causing it to be almost impossible to be able to make any extra money or save and for many people to even ever being able own anything. The best part of buying things cash is that you actually own what you bought and don't have to worry about a bank coming to take things away from you, if for some unfortunate reason you ever were unable to continue making payments.

I watch Randy on his channel all the time. One of the homes he built was in a tornado in Iowa and it was not as damaged as the homes around the house. The second house that was another Randy Jones home that was in the tornado wound up in the river, and it floated and it was not severely damaged. that goes to say that his homes are very well built. These homes in the tornado were wood built.

I wonder if having an elevator bed wouldn’t be a more efficient use of space? Have seen some THs which use this system. You can bring the bed down at night when you need it and put it back up during the day when not in use. It doesn’t have to be super high tech, have seen some folks se white a simple chain system which the use manually. Just a thought. ( Randy is a great guy btw).
