    Lowe's and Home Depot sell accordion vinyl doors that can go on the bathroom entrance for less than $50.

    • @ChibiChula
      @ChibiChula 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      A decent cheap solution for the bathroom door if you need privacy. 😁👍
      Personally, I'd buy one of those Nautilus shower doors for the shower stall instead of curtains, put in a tiny hand wash sink (an over-toilet one would be convenient but probably hard in terms of plumbing) and use either a curtain or another Nautilus shower door as the bathroom door too. Those shower doors are a lot more pricey than the accordion doors but look much more sleek, plus they are pretty much self-cleaning. Not a bad splurge in my opinion. 😅

    Suggestion: Every tiny house should have an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Mold can set up in a place like that very quickly. You can open the window but in the winter that's not a great option. If you live in a very humid area, the exhaust fan would be beneficial rather than opening the window and just letting in more dampness.

    • @sherrygrey3008
      @sherrygrey3008 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry but exhaust fans are overrated, they don’t SUCK up MOISTURE, they suck up air, leave the window cracked & bathroom door open (if you have one) while your showering. I’ve NEVER had a problem with moisture or mold! You can always buy some of those products that remove moisture (don’t know the exact name) and place them in the home

    I love the Incred-I-box! Someone could easily take this to the next level by adding a combo washer/dryer under the table counter and maybe a bigger apartment-sized fridge next to it. That way you could have a full closet where the mini fridge is now. I love how customizable it is!

    • @Das801E
      @Das801E 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adding to comment below cause a door is more better you have enough space on kitchen counter to where it can be cut short to widen the shower wall to install a build in slide door or a farmer door. It would look so sharp ❤

    The sofa across back wall seems more practical for floor space. I think you could eliminate one of those front room windows because the wall space would give so many more options to use that wall space for shelves, cabinets etc. That would leave the cost of putting that in to use for a ceiling light/fan.

      I agree!

    • @Michou007
      @Michou007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Disagree - Natural light is extremely important in a small living space. It makes the space feel even bigger. The more windows, the merrier.
      If it were me, I would even add 1 more window to the back of the trailer. Feeling of spaciousness garanteed! Great for reading a book on your sofa. You are inside, nice and cozy, but you feel like you are surrounded by nature.
      This is essential for our long-term psychological well-being, to have access to natural sunlight. I speak from experience. You feel much better living in a trailer with more windows, than if your trailer feels like a coffin...

    • @SweetbearCoyote
      @SweetbearCoyote 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Michou007 in most instances I would agree but in this case the house is so small and lacks enough storage space for shorter people or elderly people to easily access. It would be difficult to have to store everyday items like your clothes in the loft. It would be nice to have the option to not have a third window for those that would rather have the wall for storage cabinets or shelves. Just my opinion for what it’s worth. I don’t think my post has even been read by anyone at the company and it won’t change anything so you don’t have to worry about what I think.

    I really like it a lot. I prefer the day bed when you moved it the second way it opens up the space the energy is better and the log fire has to go halfway up the wall, eye level is best and you can make a feature of a small shelf or basket that holds the tiny tiny logs that you will need. It's wonderful Randy. May you live in your home in good health.

      Spot on! Metal box structures, even with a little insulation in their walls, really heat up during the hot summer days. (Having lived in a travel trailer I too can attest to this.) A mini split is a must, as even some fans won't really help much when it's 90+F and a cloudless sky.
      But I wonder if parking under a 10'x20' carport awning would help much? Anybody have experience with getting a travel trailer underneath some shade in the summer? (Affordable housing, any level of shelter, is going to become a big thing as the recession deepens. Homeless folks will be glad to have ANY roof over their heads, but it would be good to let people know what to expect if they go this route and how to optimize comfort on a very tight budget.

      Glad you kept Mom's TV, you'll think of her every time you watch it ♥️🌹
      I was so hoping, that I could get in on that deal, but Senator Manchin, voting No on the Recon, just put a damper on my financial plans. You inspired me to dream of owning my own tiny home. I never imagined the possibility, but God's will...Grants me the Serenity to except the things I can not change. Gives me Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the Difference. I humbly turn my will over to him and my Dream Will come true... All I have to do is BELIEVE. You and Amanda, your exuberant energy, imagination, honesty, and desire to do what you love, helping, those who have not, without greed is a gift that mankind needs to learn...God works in mysterious ways. We just need to watch for the signs. You are Gods Gift! To us 🏡 ITH 🏡

      Some people are making outdoor screen in cat walks for their cats. The cat goes through a space on the inside of your house in the window then your pet can enjoy the outside and enter in and out when they get ready!!!!!! You can make the cat walk as long as you want- then add some tree branches or logs to climb up on.

    I wouldn't have 3windows in the living room!! Too many, you could use more wall space to mount those small cabinets like the ones above refrigerators to put folded clothing. You could have double windows just in front of living room!! Put the couch across the end and have small coffee table that could slide under the couch, just enough to hold a drink& book,remote. You could use the heat & air conditioner unit that mounts up high. If you did that then you could have a table for two that folds down. With the couch across the end you could put a loft just for a mattress. Put a bi-fold door for bathroom. Or you could use the loft above the bathroom to lay a twin mattress on if you put the cabinets up high on walls for blankets, sheets, towels, folded clothing, the you wouldn't need the shelve above window. A woman would need a place for shoes & more clothes!! Use one of the drawers in kitchen to put one of those drawer dishwasher!! Those cabinets above would help to have space to store foods. I think the price of $20,000 then would be worth it!! No ugly lime green doors either please!!!

    Suggestion: Extend the loft along the top of the kitchen wall, in the form of a 12 to 14 inch deep shelf. Visually, it will help "frame" the kitchen, while also providing TONS of extra storage space. Small storage cubes and baskets can fit easily into such a space, and look good doing it.

      @Jojo Moa Not for me, thanks. I have serious knee issues. Climbing is difficult and kneeling/crawling is a no-go. I like that this model has only a modest storage loft, and isn't designed with the expectation that there will be any day to day living up there. That's a welcome rarity in tiny homes. Everyone designs bedroom lofts, but not every potential customer is fit to use them.

    It really looks homey, especially with that storage cabinet by the door. You're right, the sofa at the end opens up the room, so much nicer than the side. As you talked about putting the water heaters in the lofts, I wondered why the slope of the roof goes down to the loft end? Wouldn't it give you more useful height if you made that the high end? May have to flip the trailer direction for your aerodynamics, of course.

    What a great video! Loved the 🔥 fireplace at the beginning. You are giving me so many ideas for my home with your new Incred-I-Box. I didn’t think the futon would fit at the end like that! I like to rearrange, so I’d be switching it around every few months. Robb did a great job on that cabinet! I’m so excited for what the new year will bring to your business!

    Hi Amanda and Randy! I LOVE it! I am so glad that Randy has finally decided to have a home of his own. I really like the sofa against the window it makes the room look much bigger. The one thing Randy is missing is ME as part of his home decor ha ha. Question, where does Ace sleep? I'd like to call this Randy's man cave. Really, I am glad that after all these years he has invested in himself. Keep up the good work ITH!

    I love the wood stove idea but I think you'd be better suited for the cubic mini which can be hung on the wall.

    • @chezmoi42
      @chezmoi42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I really agree, this one is pretty bulky. The mini is better scaled for the space, and raising it up on the wall is good. If the electric heats up that fast, though, even in winter, do you really need a wood stove eating up precious space year round? It would be nicer to have a comfy chair, or a storage ottoman with a tray that could serve as a table if you wanted to eat or have coffee on the sofa.

    Randy, love this idea. I have a suggestion for Incred-i-box 2.0. Switch the direction of the trailer tongue to the other end. Switch the roof pitch and make it a bit steeper from the Living room end up toward over the bathroom and put a loft over the bath and part of the kitchen with a 90 degree rotated 2x4 ladder running up to the ceiling across from the countertop and perpendicular to the fridge enclosure. Put a hopper or awning window in one end of the loft and an egress window on the other side. You will have to add a transverse gable running parallel to and over the bed to keep the height under 13 feet 6 inches. Include the gas tankless water heater. I have a partial and preliminary drawing I could send you by email. It is a PDF made using Sketchup. It still has a lot of things to be corrected.

    On the couch/bed location I'd say it depends where you're located. If you had it on some property with privacy I'd leave it by the windows to see the sky and storms at night. Also I think another good option would be those raised bunk style beds with the desk underneath for like college kids or even a futon under the bunk if you didn't want the desk for work/eating/hobbies/tools could clean guns at the desk or sew or many things.

    Makes more sense to have a sliding glass door as the entry and have one or two fewer windows. You could place the couch in front of the sliding glass door if your view is nice.
    Makes more sense to put small framed white or silver (even strong glass) narrow shelves in front of the kitchen windows so you can have more windows in the kitchen.
    if blinds narrow enough and with twist rod to open and close or in-between panes of window, can close blinds and still have narrow open shelves in front of them. The items on those shelves could be all glass or a shiny white or shiny metal to reflect the sunlight.

    Hi, Merry Christmas Randy and Amanda. I like the second design where the futon is between the Windows facing the bathroom, and I would raise the heater to counter level like you mentioned Randy cause underneath you could have a cabinet in shelve for the wood or whatever. I think you have a great idea for those who need a home, to rent for a student, or for grandma. God Bless you and the ITH family

    Someone commented on Murphy bed idea. That's a fantastic 💡. You could eliminate end window and insert Murphy bed unit. When Murphy bed is closed you could have a sofa setup attached to the Murphy bed. You could also have storage above Murphy bed too. Sounds great! 😊 Condolences to both of you on the loss of your loved one. 🫂 🤗 Take care and Happy New Year!

    I like the heater by the door I've seen that in the majority of homes built for Canada and Oregon cold THOWs.
    If it gets too hot or smokey you can open door! I like couch against back wall surrounded by windows. But, if you keep to right you can place a cabinet under window for daily work clothes and paperwork personal items.
    I'm looking forward to a photo of Mama Jones to bless this home. Amanda find him a beautiful frame and location. I'm all teary eyed ,❤️ bless you all.🙏

    Wow, great tiny home! You've done a beautiful job. I love what you did with the outside.
    If I built this tiny home, I would design the kitchen a bit differently. I'd put an apartment size refrigerator where the eating space currently is. The frig you have now is way too low for most people to reach into the bottom part. I'd then reduce the depth and height of the big cabinet on the side of the entry door and add a hinged countertop under the cabinet for eating space and for usable countertop when needed. I think this will open up the kitchen. For me, I would put a kitchen cabinet where you have the kitchen shelf for more storage.
    In the bathroom, I would definitely have you put in a pocket door.
    I love the couch at the end of the room. Looks great! Please make sure you put a slip mat under that rug so the rug doesn't go out from under you!
    I love the fireplace and hope it works out. It seems to work best in the corner by the kitchen. Otherwise, you'd have it mounted over fabric which could be a fire hazard.
    Well, for what it's worth, there's my 2 cents!! If I had land to park it on, I'd sign up today to build one!
    Happy New Year! 🥳

    Love the video, really like the futon in front of the window, but also like you can change it around. Can you put a air conditioner above the kitchen window and do you have to have a stove, can you use a little electrical heater. Great price, would love to have some for me and my kids to live in some day.

    As a newly blind 80 year old lady, the simplicity of this is incredibly appealing. The blind have to have a place for everything and put everything back in its place. Organization and simplicity rule our lives, otherwise, we have chaos, and that is really bad. I love what you have created. I crave this lifestyle.

    Only men put toilets right next to the kitchen. Put the bathroom on one end with the bedroom next to it -- which makes sense! Put the Kitchen on the other side of the bedroom. You want the bedroom and the bathroom next to each other so when you get up during the night or get sick, etc. And I wouldn't want a toilet next to where I'm eating and cooking and fixing food, etc.
