    Roman!!! H*LL YEAH!! I agree soooo much about the dealer markups. I was trying to buy a Jeep Gladiator Willys from a Stellantis dealership and they very inappropriately tried to slide a market price adjustment in on the deal and lied and weaseled their way , but would NIT say what it was. I walked out, but spoke with every potential client in the location, in the show room, service, on the lot until I was removed politely by city police service at the request of the dealership!! Hahaha!!! I have trashed them, and all local dealerships playing games. The Stellantis dealership tried to threaten me with slander,,,,,, I laughed and offered to take out a full page in the local newspaper (it’s a couple of grand, but not like in big markets) and they threatened libel as well. I showed them what I would put down and asked them to honestly review my statement,,,,, they did, said it was accurate and hung up. I have not heard from them since.
    I have to guess that their one moment of greed cost them at least 30+ clients!! I met other people that felt similar, but weren’t quite so bold as me, but they steered people away also! That dealership has the largest inventory in the city!!! Hahaha. They recently stopped charging OVER MSRP on most of their products and it started clients coming back,,,,,, I’ll never go back!!

    Thank you Roman, I've been complaining on every car blog site i can for the longest time that someone needs to offer a plugin hybrid Pick Up. As you mentioned and what I agree with it's the best of all world's, for a truck you don't care about the extra weight (if it doesn't hurt payload too much), you get the instant torque help, ability to say go 25-35 miles on a charge could take care alot of daily city driving and then when you go tow long distances you don't care about a charging network and while doing that. I've been really hoping someone comes out with one instead of just only gas or electric only pick ups

    Here's another good scenario you have a bad storm coming power has been out for example even if you fully charged your truck you are told to evacuate so what people do they load as much as their personal items load up the camper and they take off now your range goes down to near 100 150 miles you're stuck in traffic with everybody trying to get out and then you got to stop so often to try to get charged hopefully you make it out of the no powers zone where there is power outage what do you do??? Think about the scenario especially for the coast living people so therefore fully electric is not the wisest idea in many situations like this so that's why I think hybrid powertrain would be the best option when it comes to pickup trucks and towing operations

      I think the goal was to fill a gap vs repeat something they already (sort of) have. If you get a base Tremor, they are not super expensive. They won’t be much more than the Rattler, but have much better content. Kind of like the XLT vs the XL. They can add up soon though.

    The tires on the F-150 Rattler look like they are possibly Toyo A/T 3’s or falken Wildpeak A/T 3W’s. Rattler would be a great truck for those of us that don’t do tons of off roading but gives you the affordable ability to like Roman side hunting or just some light weight off roading.

    5:30 "It follows the Ranger Tremor" A limited TREMOR package was released in 2014 in FX2 and FX4 packages. I believe less than 3000 were released. The package included everything you said about an FX package including 4:10 gears, interior upgrades, and short bed-standard cab only. I own one and it is 1 of 2025 FX4 produced.

  • @peruser155
    @peruser155 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you guys do a real world comparison that includes a standard XL crew 4x4, an "FX4" crew 4x4, a "Rattler" crew 4x4, and a "Tremor" crew 4x4? Make sure the base XL has the $400 rear locker option. No fancy colors, make em all Oxford White (trust me, you make one black, and there will be those that automatically pick that one as the best "offroader" lol). My bet is there won't be any difference. And before anyone says that the "more aggressive" tires would help the others when compared to the XL, I would say this: yes, the tread might be slightly more aggressive than the all seasons on the XL, but the diameter isn't that much bigger (32" on XL versus 33" on all above trims--which equates to only a HALF INCH more sidewall), and all are still P rated (no factory F150 package is available with the tougher LT tires found on true offroad rigs). My point is this: the most basic sub-$40k F150 crewcab with 4x4 and electronic locker is already a very capable vehicle off road; just as capable as the "sticker trims." All of these mediocre "offroad" packages and trims are really only about profit margins. People love catchy stickers and seat stitching. Real world off-the-pavement differences in experiences, however, are minimal at best. I remember when the Raptor was really the only "offroad upgrade" you could get above a "regular" 4x4 F150. That was/is a true upgrade in my opinion: completely different suspension system, 35" tires (now 37"), specific body panels, front lockers, etc. There is a huge difference there! All of these others are just fluff. I wouldn't have a problem with the "fluff" packages, if they were priced fairly. They aren't. Artificial hype has allowed inflated pricing. So I'll just continue with my XL with rear locker and throw on a better set of tires (with dealer credit for the eom tire trade) and run right alongside any of the fluff trims for many thousands of $$$ less, thank you.

Thee local dealership has sold him about a dozen vehicles over the last 15 years or so, and this was his last with them due to their huge markups and lack of transparency on them. He bought his first Ford just 3 weeks ago for a work truck! It is a 2.7 F150 SuperCab XL model with most of the XL options, but it was a brand new 2021 and he got almost $4,000 Canadian off the price!! The market will eventually stabilize and those greedy dealers will notice the clients they lost!!! Heh heh. The Ford dealership I use has been good to deal with all the time I have been dealing with them. During this shortage and when special vehicles like the GT500 show up,,,, he refuses to charge over MSRP. You may end up paying exactly MSRP, but he will include the dealer fees then and throw in a handful of swag,, hats, key chains and some other paraphernalia. He has a huge loyal network of long term repeat buyers. I think in the long run he does better than the greedier dealerships. He was run off his feet until he could catch up on hiring experienced salespeople and the back end staff for doing the PDI and prepping deliveries. He has trucks arriving almost daily now, including Weekends, and it’s hard to keep up and get the ordered and pre-sold vehicles to their owners. He does a lot of the detailing himself as he can’t get enough and also keep enough that aren’t catching this damn COVID!!! He figures another month and just about all his staff will have had it and the problem will stop until another strain shows up!!! Hahaha.

  • @shitloveaduck
    @shitloveaduck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    THE reasons a tire blows out is because it is under inflated or overloaded,,,, period. If you air down, you are generally low enough to cause a very high possibility of having, not one, but multiple blowouts. The sidewalls get hot and the cords in the sidewalls start to fail and the tire blows out. People say a tire is crap because of a blowout, but if you look very closely you will find a puncture in the tire or you have a half ton and are trying to haul 3000 lbs.
    There’s the rare situation where a tire separates, but they are rough until they start losing air and then blowout! In this case the tire is likely crap. Old Uniroyals were bad for this in the 80s and 90s, but eventually Michelin bought the company and Uniroyal has some very decent mid priced tires now.

    I don't like tow haul mode while towing smaller loads. I tow my mower and lawn equipment on a small 5x8 trailer and a load that light doesn't cause a noticeable difference in braking or shifting. The shift profiles in tow mode are not programmed for different weight loads and becomes a bigger hassle than pushing the button when hooking up to larger loads. Ford trucks are made for guys who work their trucks everyday, not the suburbanite weekenders who need the automatic systems to boost their own confidence while towing minimal loads.

    I bet Ford put in the backup beep to be compliant with workplace rules, and even more important, insurance policies, which require it, since so many people use Ford trucks for work. I don't mind it. The low speed hum is more annoying when up in the woods, but it's not bad either.
    I do agree that if you want to tow a relatively heavy trailer long distance and have electric power, the Powerboost Hybrid is so far the best choice. Insane gas range + electricity when you get there. But this, whether Ram or Powerboost, is probably best not hauling more than 6000 lbs, otherwise they swing around too much at freeway speeds in wind or when semis go by. I am really curious how the Lightning or e-Silverado will do with all the battery weight. For just doing local region camping, I think they will be fine. For long distance, I will be zipping by with my GoFast wedge-tent camper on my Lightning!

    I think with trucks they just need to stop at making it a hybrid especially for the ones that tow cuz nobody ain't going to buy a truck that can go a merely a hundred and fifty miles and then they have to sit there and charge it especially when you towing and having the fight to pull through you're not going to be productive versus an ice truck which is you can easily get 300 plus miles on a tank and pull through to a gas station and fill up in a matter of minutes or two... Kind of like the Toyota Prius it is self-sufficient it gets excellent fuel mileage it recharges itself as you drive it therefore you can drive it like a normal vehicle put it the little gas that it takes and you can easily get 500 mi out of a little 10 gallon tank they need to do the same concept with pickup trucks or at least if they do full electric a way to use a on-board generator so you can recharge yourself in emergency just a good idea

    I agree with Roman. Rivian R1T is an adventure vehicle, like a Honda Ridgeline and Hyundai Santa Cruz. None of them are "trucky" enough. I would classify the new Hummer Pickup and the Silverado EV the same exact way. Manufacturers are trying to bend the rules of what a truck should be and do. I think this is purposeful as they know EV's will not tow and haul well with the current infrastructure. Just take a look at the new Toyota Tundra, with no tow hooks and Toyota has stated that you can no longer use their truck to plow snow because it will overheat. Pretty soon we're going to be forced to buy a 3/4 ton to do "truck" stuff. The 1/2 ton segment is turning into a metrosexual targeted joke.

    if you want an electric truck, for towing and work COPY THE RR , make a diesel engine to generate electric power for the electric motor that's why the RR moves the most amount of weight for the least amount of $$$ , in 2022 you can apply the same tech to a 1/2 ton truck , and it would work

    Where are the hybrid diesel trucks??

    • @Libertarian_Neighbor
      @Libertarian_Neighbor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve asked that question. It’s physics. Both diesel engines and batteries are insanely heavy and expensive. You might gain 1-2 MPG for an extra $15k. It’s just not practical.

    • @jamiegrace9662
      @jamiegrace9662 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Libertarian_Neighbor practical left the building long ago in terms of cost. Your gains on mileage in a hybrid diesel might be more impactful because the added torque from the diesel would be less affected by the weight. When your battery runs out a diesel does not care as much as that little gasser.

    Just got a call from the dealer about my V8 Rattler! They said my other is held up because it needs to change to 3.5 EB! Anyone else also get this line? Dealer said they didn't know why. I am guessing Ford does not want to design a dual exhaust for the V8.

    If the Ford Rattler's that end up on dealer lots are UNDER $50,000 I will be amazed. I have a feeling the price will be higher than expected (like what happened with the Ram Back Country) and the "value" aspect will be extremely questionable/subjective. Hope I'm wrong

    Dealers are their own worst enemy. I once overheard a dealer try to charge over $500 for a 4x4 service on a truck with 40kmi to change diff fluid and transfer case fluid. Dealers are ballsy like this because their very existence is protected by law in most states. I'm hoping Tesla and now Ford begin to change the industry and how dealers interact with their customers.

    Offroad doesn't mean horsepower. Idk why Raptor and trx are placed at the top so easily, just because they have hp. Offroad isn't just desert running. It's rocks, desert, trails, mud, sand, etc.. show me a test where Raptor and trx are beating tremors and trds at most of the offroading elements, to be placed at 1st. If so cool. Then, the zr2 isn't built to be a desert runner. It's to be the most versatile offroad truck. Just because it's not supercharged and costs 100k doesn't mean it wouldn't outperform them in most offroad situations. This is like saying the demon challenger is better than the z28. No its not lol it is at a single straight line. That's it.

    Rivian is much practical and twice efficient than super expensive Hummer. That’s why hummer is heavy it has more battery. All electric are great within range if you charge at home. It is great for people who seldom toe. Any version of F150 is useless as work vehicle to haul & tow any serious weight, buy 250 or 350 if you need it for work

    Been saying this for months but if the raptor doesn’t cease to exist then this is it’s replacement….
    I think raptor “R” was the meant for the ranger and what is actually going to come out is the raptor E plug in hybrid.
    Which I’m ok with lol. Would be badass and like the Jeep Wrangler just make it even better then it already was. As long as they pair with current engine.
    Glad to say I’ll have one of the last 23/24 raptors once it’s built but still a hybrid option will be dope.

    Electric trucks are like computers. Each year the computer gets stronger and more capable. Once you buy one it becomes obsolete.
