It was great to meet Haley in the starting pen, made the wait go so much quicker. Well done on the new pb's, it was a very fast course as somehow I completed it in 1:35:30, easily under 1.40. Ian That hill at mile 12 was brutal and I always have a pizza the night before.
Oh wow you absolutely smashed it, congratulations 🔥🙌 Yes if you're legs are going to turn to jelly it's there 😂 That's a couple of mentions for pizza now, maybe we're missing a trick 🍕😋
Good morning Ryan & Haley, I've been waiting to watch this so I could take in the whole video:) Well done on the joint PBs, 1:43 and 1:15! You were lucky with the weather, course looked damp so you got away with that nicely. Talking of pacers, we had a 1:20 pacer at Manchester last Sunday, those guys were flying! Re pre-race meals, I have pasta the night before, I had a home-cooked pasta bake the night before Manchester, think it worked:) I have done Tewkesbury Parkrun, lovely course but it's all grass:( On CHat GPT, I am using that quite a bit of late, I asked it about my Half given my lack of training and it gave me some great tips on gel strategy, particularly in the latter stages:)
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our videos 🤩 sounds like you have some great food prep before hand, it's normally a Chile or some classic tomato pasta at home but it's tough when going away aha, looks like you ran a great half and it was a great little parkrun to try before hand, slowly putting that video together ☺️☺️
@raleyadventures You're welcome, I know you put a lot of work into each one, and you're getting really close to the magic 1000 subscribers now:) Ah yes, the elusive MCRHALF, I finally cracked it:) Tewkesbury, I did that last year, might be a bit muddy at the moment🙄
Whoop whoop. Ring that pb bell, guys. Great run from the both of you. Hayley, you can't beat having people to run with for the whole race. Keeps you honest and competitive. Ryan, see you had a lovely battle with a few Ponty lads in black and white. You will break 1:15 soon. It's about time for another parkrun handicap time race? Lol
Thank you so much, it was great to have such a quality field out there, I did notice them and thought it was your club tbf 😂 they had some very quick runners out there 😅😅 hopefully not too long before I break the elusive 75 😍
@@raleyadventures cool. Our club and their club have a bit of banter out being the true black and white team. As there squares are the wrong way round haha
Congrats on your PBs. That definitely looked like a big race. We don't have many races that big near me. The Las Vegas one used to get that size but it seems to have died out a bit. Also that hill definitely looked like a deal breaker at the end. As far as travel races the night before I try to eat something I've had before. My go to meal tends to be a chain of diners here in the western US. I try to eat enough but not too much.... I've made that mistake before in the past. Your videos keep getting better each time. Well done!
We are so pleased you enjoy out content ☺️🔥 it really was an amazing event to take part in and next year sold out within 12 hrs 🤯🤯😂 sounds like you have great dinners before racing ☺️🙌
That event was exceptional and definitely one to remember and is definitely up there with the likes of London and Brighton marathon, we are so pleased you liked the video ☺️☺️
It was a risky strategy to aim for that much taken off but it was worth a risk considering how big the field was 😅😂 hopefully it's taught me for future races but it's definitely a step in the right direction and luckily I didn't fully die near the end 😅🙌 thank you so much for watching ☺️☺️
Well done on the PBs! 🥳 Nice video 👍 I really enjoyed it too. ❤🏴 Although it was crowded for those of us who started much further back, there were also more supporters / music out by then! 🎉
Sorry to hear you didn't get a PB but it still sounds like you had an amazing time which is the main thing ☺️🙌 thank you so much for watching, it was great for us to relive the moments of the day ☺️
Thank you so much for that kind words, we will be doing a lot of xc races but we've decided not to film any more of them as they are always very hit and miss if we can actually film, sounds like you're a bit interested in it 👀👀
@@raleyadventures - I ran a season of Gloucestershire League cross country when I was 17. I actually came last in one of them even though I wasn’t that slow 😂 I was obviously there to make up the numbers 🙄… I remember some of the races had a ban on runners filming. It’s probably the only type of run event that I’ve heard that happen.
Great video guys, massive congrats on the Pb’s!! I ran this race and enjoyed every minute of it! Unfortunately, my warm up was running to the pens after arriving late 😂 …I always eat pizza the night before a race, always the same one and chocolate after 😂 it seems to work for me.
I heard it got very cramped further back in the start pens because of the specators, hopefully you got over the fence okay aha, we are excited to see your video on this and to see how you ran 😊 Pizza sounds like a lovely meal to have beforehand 😋defo the treats after 🍬🍭
Pizza is always my pre-race go-to the night before. Great running both. Massive congrats on your PB's. Still think you should give Kendal Mint Co gels a go. Prefer them to High5 and SIS.
Looked like a course full of interesting features. Question. How many gels do you take during a 75 minute race? You had four to take with you then mentioned gel stations in your plenary. Are you a chain gel taker? Get to the end of one packet then open another?
😂😂 very good question I would generally take 3 (one 10min before the start, one at 4mile and one at 9) this time I decided to take 4 as I didn't see any negatives of doing so 😂😂 ik it might not be the best strategy but I haven't had any stomach issues so far and with them being high 5 the carb levels are relatively low, I just took the ones at the gel station as it's part of the entry fee 😉😂 in my last marathon I think I had around 8/10 😂😂😅 I would say I'm a chain gel taker in other words 😂
Thank you for watching 🙌 It's definitely tough that's for sure and i'm just glad the lake was nice to look at 🤣 It was very deceptive indeed 😓 how did you do in the race ?😊
Congrats on your incredible PBs both, hugely deserved! Great video, thoroughly enjoyed that 👍🏻😊

Great video, you captured our son who was in a a black running vest, with a blue hoop through the middle.
We are so glad you enjoyed the video 🙌☺️ how did your son do in the end, was he pleased with his time?
He ran a time of 1:14.44, he was pleased, as it was his first half.
