Magician Shin Lim Teaches Us a Sleight of Hand Card Trick

- Shin Lim has been blowing our minds with his magic ever since he won "America's Got Talent" not just once (Season 13) but TWICE ("AGT: The Champions")! With that kind of star power in that particular field of entertainment, there was only one place to end up: Las Vegas! Pretty impressive for someone who is entirely self-taught (thanks, TH-cam!). Shin Lim stopped by the Young Hollywood Studio earlier this year to discuss his incredible journey to the top of his game and how a bout of carpal tunnel syndrome forced him to choose between the piano and magic. He also gives us the scoop on his magic specialty, sleight of hand, which is a whole different art form unto itself, especially when performed up close. He demonstrates this with a couple incredible card tricks, which he also explains the secrets behind, and it is very clear that not everyone has the skills to pull off stunts like these!

I like how he doesn’t care if people know how he does his tricks because he’s confident enough in how good he does them that it doesn’t even matter, it still has the wow factor. That’s awesome. Cause it’s funny they were saying that, and you can easily look up how he does this trick and it’s not hard at all, it’s just very simple sleight of hand, but on a really high level of pulling it off so smoothly.

I love it! He’s so cool and honest about it. That is a very easy trick to learn how it’s done, but it takes a lot of practice to pull it off so flawlessly! Love how honest he is, that one too is so cool because it’s so super simple, but has a huge WOW factor to it and seems so impossible. Then you learn how it’s done and your like “oh woah.. that’s it!? It’s so simple”.

Yeah cause she kept making it awkward by asking for a new deck or to learn a trick right after he told her slight of hand isn't something you can just do even if the method is revealed to you it needs a lotta training and skill, this is the worst kind of people to perform magic to, but he held himself pretty well

takes a lot of dedication and years and years of long hours of practicing it over and over again getting faster and better each time you hope, and some never reach that level, that`s why so few can do it consistently over a long period of time, maintaining a high level of excellence, Shin Lim is probably best in the world at cards slight of hand, you know sometimes how he does it, but it`s still so damn fast, clean, precise and seamless his routine

He double lifted and gave her a different card then double lifted again to show the bottom card wasnt hers but the top one was and put it in his mouth. Simple but tricky to get it smooth

Shin is awesome in all his interviews, but sheesh the host needs to prepare for the interview. When someone asks if you have a favorite card, you don't go "I can pick one." Say a card. Then when she picks a card randomly, he asks her again if it's her favorite card, and she says "no, but it's my lucky number." Well, how do you know it's not your favorite card if you didn't have a favorite one when he asked? And who doesn't know how a box of cards is opened up, and yes it matters. And don't ask the magician on camera how they do it. This was so bad it distracted me from what was happening.

yep the key card is the card you the illusionist magician secretly glance at memorized it either on the bottom or in the middle and have spectator put there card they pick on the deck and you cut the deck to put your key card on top of the speactator card so when you search for there card you find your keycard and after your key card will be the spectators card
