      I agree! I make these videos for professionals but it turns out that many high schools use them in their professional/career development classes.

    I’m impressed by how you make your advice so clear and easy to get! Using eye contact and speaking louder is exactly what made me go from average to confident speaker. Following you from Paris, France! 👏 🙏

    I have always struggled with volume. I have been a soft speaker and, consequently, sound less convincing. Thank you for letting me know about the importance of volume. I will be more deliberate and intentional. I have been watching you for many years and you have been a great resource.
    Thanks again, it was a great series!

    I need to speak fluently, so what is your advice?

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question. I don't have an expertise or background in helping people speak English fluently. But I recommend another channel called Accurate English. Lisa is the host and she is outstanding. She specializes in helping professions move from advanced English to fluency.

      @@alexanderlyon as a preacher, I struggle with eye contact my messages because my messages are transcripts. Any tips?

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you're using a transcript, then eye contact will be very difficult. My typical tip is to use an outline with key words only. Otherwise, a word-for-word transcript (or close to it) will lock you in. I have a video on this topic specifically that might help: th-cam.com/video/Pci3VieINY8/w-d-xo.html

      After you speak and finish your talking turn in a group, don't look down. Keep your chin and eyes up and look at the person who speaks next.

    I learn a lot from your videos. However, I feel moderately betrayed by the cuts in your videos. If you can’t communicate it in one take, how will I ever be able to? There’s no second take in real life…

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The cuts are done for a lot of reasons. The most common reason is to give the video variety and keep the energy level up. If you look at my oldest videos, I would talk all the way through in one take with no cuts (because I didn't know how to edit). They are still listed under the "Videos" tab. But adding cuts/editing makes the videos more interesting and keeps people watching longer. There are lots of statistics that show that. People watch my more edited videos longer than they watched my one-take videos. The bottom line is that my main goal is to make a great video. I'm not trying to prove I can talk all the way through a video. I've done that many times in the beginning but they videos didn't come out as good.
