I don't know how to thank you, sir. This is the first video I watch on your channel but I'll watch the other 4 videos in this series. And I wish to congratulate you soon, when you get 1M subscribers. Your new follower from Egypt.
I’m impressed by how you make your advice so clear and easy to get! Using eye contact and speaking louder is exactly what made me go from average to confident speaker. Following you from Paris, France! 👏 🙏
This is my first video. For some reason you haven't been in my feeds. I will go back and look at all the ones that precede this and look forward to more! Thank you very much.
I have always struggled with volume. I have been a soft speaker and, consequently, sound less convincing. Thank you for letting me know about the importance of volume. I will be more deliberate and intentional. I have been watching you for many years and you have been a great resource. Thanks again, it was a great series!
Hey Alex, Thanks again for another great video resource. My Public Speaking class benefits with supplemental videos and resources, many of which are from your channel. Keep up the great work.
Valuable ! when there's a limit to our personal growth in terms of money at workplace then how go beyond that limit of success ? Do people really care Value and are willing to do anything to keep creative and value providing people in their office..
If you're using a transcript, then eye contact will be very difficult. My typical tip is to use an outline with key words only. Otherwise, a word-for-word transcript (or close to it) will lock you in. I have a video on this topic specifically that might help: th-cam.com/video/Pci3VieINY8/w-d-xo.html
Good question. I don't have an expertise or background in helping people speak English fluently. But I recommend another channel called Accurate English. Lisa is the host and she is outstanding. She specializes in helping professions move from advanced English to fluency.
I learn a lot from your videos. However, I feel moderately betrayed by the cuts in your videos. If you can’t communicate it in one take, how will I ever be able to? There’s no second take in real life…
The cuts are done for a lot of reasons. The most common reason is to give the video variety and keep the energy level up. If you look at my oldest videos, I would talk all the way through in one take with no cuts (because I didn't know how to edit). They are still listed under the "Videos" tab. But adding cuts/editing makes the videos more interesting and keeps people watching longer. There are lots of statistics that show that. People watch my more edited videos longer than they watched my one-take videos. The bottom line is that my main goal is to make a great video. I'm not trying to prove I can talk all the way through a video. I've done that many times in the beginning but they videos didn't come out as good.

Every high school ought to include these videos for every course.
I agree! I make these videos for professionals but it turns out that many high schools use them in their professional/career development classes.
I really needed this. I don't know why am I only finding your channel today. I'll go back to the other videos as well.
Every one is pure gold.

Another excellent video, brother! Have you covered handling Q&A situations in group settings before?
It's a great topic and I work on it with my clients but I haven't figured out how to do a great video with that topic just yet. We'll see.

I don't quite understand what do you mean by "Maintain direct eye contact with whomever speaks next." Please, explain more.
Great content 👍🏼
Glad you think so. Thank you.
@@alexanderlyon as a preacher, I struggle with eye contact my messages because my messages are transcripts. Any tips?

What’s up when ppl yell?
I don't quite understand what do you mean by "Maintain direct eye contact with whomever speaks next." Please, explain in more details.
After you speak and finish your talking turn in a group, don't look down. Keep your chin and eyes up and look at the person who speaks next.
