Fully agree. I have bought new headphones as something is off with my current ones. I was VERY surprised when I heard the video on youtube today. On my computer the sound was much more in the background.
Wonderful video. I picked up the most interesting juniper from the nursery last week and didn’t realize it not only has mirroring cascade branches but also mirroring branches going up and then arching back down. After watching your video I’m going to try this air layer method this fall before removing the branches I decide to cut off. I’m already looking forward to next spring.
thank you for the video, I have a young Itoigawa Shimpaku, that I want to plant in my raised bed in September (our spring). Going plant some of my maples also.
Great video but if you want to see aa better zelkova sacrifice branch then you neeed to see Alex Brauntons - it is incredible what he has deceloping in a wooden box! I am definitely goig to try the tourniquet method this october after seeing what you achieved. Did you tighten it enough that you could see it had dug into the cambium?
Hello, I recently bought a Wisteria Geisha and a Wisteria Harlequin. I want to make them into bonsai plants. Could you please tell me how long to keep the wires on?
I can do this, but during winter we have loads of snow, so that will compact the whole plant so it would resemble a sqatting/ creeping juniper 😅. But in pots it's ok under civer. Do you live in The Netherlands, or België?
I always love your videos but I would prefer no music while you are talking. :)

I learned so much from this video. One of the better instructional videos I have seen. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Very happy to hear this!
Great video. I did some juniper cuttings 2 years ago from juniper on my mothers front-garden. They are still small, but they grow healthy.
Beef them, twist them and make a bonsai!
Enjoyed this one, love junipers! ❤
Glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic techniques! thank you Twist and bent :) gonna try this
") I try to get something into each video that is worth knowing!
Good sacrifice branch on that zelkova👍
Really loved your explanation and demonstration! Makes so much sense now!!
Glad it was helpful!
What a great technique!! Thanks for all that information Jelle!! Very sneaky way to create nice trees... Mua hua huaaa!!!
Thank you! Cheers! It just helps speed up the process.

More Plants! Yeah!
Thanks for sharing this great technique
You are so welcome! Now go outside and do the same :)
Very cool Jelle, can't wait to see how it goes! Cheers.
You and me both!
Good stuff Jelle!
Thank you Tony!

Great! They should speed up growth that way!
Cuttings are fun!
Yes they are!
Great video! Never seen airlayers done that way. But what's up with the music? In some places it makes it hard to hear what you are saying.
Sorry about that. Some issues with my laptop and converting things.

Do you have a video in mind where Alex shows his?
@@GrowingBonsai Im still trying to convince him - to be fair, it blew my mind just how good his technique is. A very humble enthusiast!
Great video mate! Thank you for sharing your passion with the world. Can u explain how tightly you torque the wire for the tourniquet?
Quite tight, to the point that is really compressed the bark (bites in)
สวยงามมากๆครับ
ok
What’s the best time for doing an airlayer? Thanks in advance Jelle
Normally, mostly somewhere around mid-spring.
Hello, I recently bought a Wisteria Geisha and a Wisteria Harlequin. I want to make them into bonsai plants. Could you please tell me how long to keep the wires on?
Wisteria is usually flexible quite long. So I would guess you need to unwire and rewire branches multiple times to avoid scarring.
Do you do all your air layering by twisting wire, or do you also cut the bark all the way round on some other trees like Japanese maples.
Nah, the wire is rare for me! Did you see these? th-cam.com/video/z6wi2C4eh_Q/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/8xlNdEq_r6g/w-d-xo.html

he sounds dutch..
@@runs_through_the_forest he might be Dutch but also Belgian, because he might speak vlaams, that is almost the same.
@@kennethstensrud669 i live by the dutch border in vlaanderen and work in holland every now and then.. 😋anyhow have a good one cheers
Neither. In any case.. Use slightly thick copper wire and probably that would help a lot? Snow is a great insulator!
@@kennethstensrud669To a Dutch person Flemmish does not sound the same at all. :) I'm 100% sure Jelle is Dutch.
👍👌🙂
