Hey guys this Video is only for the RWS mode of the Hornet, We don't have TWS at this point due to the whole Early Access thing, Once that becomes available I'll make a Video for that too.

It's "bar" not "box". 6B is a 6 bar scan, from each slice, in order, decreasing elevation as you go.
VsubC, Vc, is' velocity - closure or just "closure rate". Combined with that aspect angle, you can see if it is to, or from you, in a moment's glance. on the HUD symbology.
I'm a former Hornet Driver btw.

@@mayurchauhan1 I don't care if you're from Mars, the aircraft isn't what does the shooting down, otherwise, we'd never need to train pilots. You put a well-trained pilot against a pilot that isn't as well trained, and don't put ROE on either pilot that inhibits them from defending themselves, and more often than not that better pilot is going to shock that other guy despite numerous technological advantages. I don't know that this is what happened in the case we're talking about, but I do know that Richthofen said this over 100yrs ago, and he was right: It's the man, not the crate. You train the man, you maintain the aircraft.

@@GrowlingSidewinder Not sure you can help me with a couple of questions regarding the F18.
One is, why is it the top speed is only around 800 knots? No matter what altitude I fly at with a clean loadout I can't seem to get it above that.
Second, is there a way to land at airfields that do not have a TACAN station by tuning into a radio beacon? I see all kinds of airfields on the caucus map with no tacan.

Very well made video. Explains the radar operation quite well and the graphics were a very good addition. Keep it up, good sir! S!
Was fun to see the 7Ms go silly :P
Any particular reason why they would do that? Boresight? datalink? Happens with our ERs in rear aspect shots as well, but I am just wondering if the 7M and Hornet have any special modelling which could explain / affect this behaviour?

hey, glad you enjoyed the video, the aim7s went stupid due to the il78 dumping chaff, which confused the radar tracking on the aim7s. chaff is too small to see in the video itself, but you can see when I fire the missile the plane breaks to the left (banks left) and dumps chaff, this maneuver makes the aim7 track the radar reflective chaff pattern instead of the plane itself.

Growling Sidewinder I'm relatively new to the Hornet and in my case (in ACM), the target's vector kept wobbling when I had it locked (the AIM-7 practice mission, against the MiG-25 and Su-24; both high and low aspect shots). The BVR LOFT shots worked perfect, no misses there... but the ACM shots (2) in a low aspect against the 2 Su-24s said that the missile was LOST (HUD message) soon after launch and missed; I had to take the targets down with Sidewinders. In a high aspect ACM shot against a MiG-25, the missile tracked the target and hit it, despite saying LOST. I checked TacView and the target didn't dump chaff. I was also below the targets in both cases so there's no chance of ground clutter. I had the target size set to small (Su-24) and medium (MiG-25; because I approached from ~130 degrees left).
That's why I was wondering if it's something modelled in the 18's radar. Like we have with other doppler radar in RWS and specific closure rates, especially in a look-down scenario.
Do keep making these vids though. I enjoy your combat vids (don't like the motion blur, but that's a personal taste) and the tutorials as also well done. S!

    Great tutoríal.
Just one question. What does it make an AIM-7 “go stupid”? Was the airplane counter measuring?
    Thanks!

Juan García yes the plane was releasing chaff and that confused the missile into going "stupid"

GS, I learned alot. What determines a desirable TDC from zero? Low threat vs high threat? Just wondering. Thank you for the training.
